Ink Sample Exchange - United States

Guest Denis Richard

Recommended Posts

My collection is rather limited compared to that of others. I have the following:

Bottled Ink:

Quink: Blue-black, and green

Noodlers: Sequoia

Private Reserve: Blue suede, spearmint, dc supershow blue, and tanzanite

Pelikan: Turquoise

Aurora: Blue

Doctor: Red, Blue, Blue-Black, Black

Mont-Blanc: Black and Blue-black.

In addition I have a delightful very dark green (with a faint tinge of blue) that I mixed myself.

Cartridges:

Parker Quink Blue and blue-black

Sheaffer blue-black

Cross blue black

Assorted generic international short cartridges.

I would like to try colors I don't have especially browns, reds, purples, etc.

Many thanks.

Honestly, though, I'm open to just about anything that's not on my "owns" list. At this point, I'm a bit Noodler's-heavy and would like to branch out to some other brands of inks (but there are also so many more Noodler's that look fantastic!) I welcome recommendations from others. Blue is my favorite color, but I particularly love jewel toned colors (blues, browns, burgundies, violets, and deep greens). Not especially interested in blacks unless someone wants to convince me there's this great black I have to try!

Thanks for looking,

Jeff

I submitted a post on 8 November indicating that I had inks to trade. Unfortunately, at the moment I'm unable to participate so please ignore my previous post. If anyone can tell me how to get my first post taken off this board, I'd appreciate it.

Many thanks and happy trading.

Cartridges I have:

My Levenger cartridges are dual ended Parker/large International sized. Be aware they're slimmer than a normal Parker cartridge or a large Waterman cartridge. These do work in my Waterman Kultur, but your mileage my vary because I understand Waterman carts are at least slightly different from International. I have:

Levenger Amythest

Levenger Cardinal Red

Levenger Cocoa

Levenger Gemstone Green

Bottled ink I have:

Parker Quink Blue-Black

Private Reserve Arabian Rose

Private Reserve DC Supershow Blue

Private Reserve Grey Flannel

Private Reserve Midnight Blues (NOT the fast dry version)

Bottled ink I'd like to try:

Both FPN inks

Noodlers - Various Bulletproof Inks (most notably Old Manhattan Black and Legal Lapis)

Private Reserve - Sonic Blue, Chocolat, Black Cherry

Visconti - Blue, Sepia

Caran d'Ache - Storm, Grand Canyon, Sunset

Conway Stewart - Dark Green

J. Herbin - Terre de Feu, Gris Nuage

Omas - Sepia, Grey

Sailor - Red-Brown, Grey, Brown

Rohrer and Klingner - Alt Bordeaux, Verdigris, Sepia, Leipziger Schwarz

Stipula - Sepia, Deep Blue, Dark Red

Waterman - Havana Brown

(Note that I don't have vials just yet, so bottle ink trades probably cannot happen until 2008 -- if it's 2008 when you're reading, assume I'm all set)

Since the long term editing feature seems to have gone the ways of the Dodo :crybaby: , Here's a list of my current collection of 138 bottled inks:

My Big Fat Ink Collection

Sorry to send you to my blog, but a sad lack of self-control means that I'll adding to the list soon.

The short list of inks I's like to sample is here:

Inky Wish List

However, I'd be interested in almost any ink I haven't already tried. So if you have an ink that isn't in my current collection or in my sample list (see link below), PM me and perhaps we can do a trade.

Samples I've already traded for

Thanks,

Kate

I mistakenly bought a 6 pack of short blue/black Cross fountain pen cartridges last night. I thought it might work in a pen that only takes the short international cartridges. But after a lot of cursing and blue/black fingers, I realized that it won't work. I bought these hoping that the ink would be slightly more water resistant than the PR Lake Placid Blue that I'm using right now, unfortunately, I won't be able to find out.

I would be willing to trade the remaining 5 for any other colors in the short international cartridges. Send me a PM if you'd like to trade.

I've updated (04-11-07) - Red indicates an ink added as of this date.

Private Reserve: DC Blue, Tanzanite, Black Magic Blue

Herbin: Amber,

Diamine: Claret, Prussian Blue, Sepia, Umber, Woodland Green

Aurora: Black

Waterman: Violet (NOS - with that lovely camphor smell), Havana

Noodlers: Saguaro Wine, Squeteague,WP Black, FPN Brown, Apache Sunset

Here are the inks I'm interested in but if you have something else let that you might want to suggest, just let me know.

PR: Sonic Blue,

Diamine inks: Any but Prussian Blue, Indigo, Claret, Emerald, Umber or Woodland Green.

Caran D'Ache: Storm

Also - since i'm actually saturated (NPI) with inks, I'm open to trading for paper samples such as a couple of sheets of Clairefontaine, Rhodia, etc. I'll trade for postage as well. That is, an unused US 60c stamp for a sample of ink. or two 37c. it's typically 60c to send one vial.

for future reference - NPI= No Pun Intended

Hi KCat,

I noticed that the posts in this thread are old. Would you still be interested in trading ink for postage? Postage may be more now. I'd be happy to send whatever you need. Also, your list of inks available may have changed. Just let me know. I'm new to fountain pens and have only two bottled inks so far: Aurora black and Waterman Havana brown. Thanks!

Unfortunately I don't have any shops close by to sample these inks, I have the three Noodlers eternal inks, Hunter green, firefox red, and luxury blue, if you would like samples.

See this thread for all the details, but it's pretty straightforward:

PM Dillo with how many you would like and your address. He'll pm you back with the cost ($0.10 each) + postage. You PayPal him the $. He sends you the vials (although he is traveling for the next two weeks). You sample the inky goodness through trades with other FPNers.

No replies required to my complaints about the Pelikan. A friend came to the rescue with some very magnification equipment - with the images thrown to a latge high res screen. Technology is a wonderful thing. Thanks to Mercian for the reply. I had been using the same paper & ink for sometime when the "singing" started. I have a theory but no proof that nibs get damaged when capping the pen. 👍
    • Mercian 22 Oct 22:28
@FineFinerFinest: sometimes nib-'singing' can be lessened - or even cured - by changing the ink that one is putting through the pen, or the paper that one is using. N.b. *sometimes*. Good luck

I'm not expecting any replies to my question about the singing Pelikan nib. It seems, from reading the background, that I am not alone. It's a nice pen. It's such a pity Pelikan can't make decent nibs. I have occasionally met users who tell me how wonderful their Pelikan nib is. I've spent enough money to know that not everyone has this experience. I've worked on nibs occasionally over forty years with great success. This one has me beaten. I won't be buying any more Pelikan pens. 👎
    • FineFinerFinest 21 Oct 4:27
I've had a Pelikan M805 for a couple of years now and cannot get the nib to write without singing. I've worked on dozens of nibs with great success. Ny suggestion about what's going wrong? 😑

I'm looking to repair some cheap pens that are starving for ink yet filled, and eventually get new nibs; and development of repair skills (an even longer learning curve than my art studies - lol). Every hobby needs a hobby, eh ...

    • JungleJim 1 Sept 1:55
Perhaps it's like saying Beetlejuice 3 times to get that person to appear, though with @Sailor Kenshin you only have to say it twice?

    • Diablo 26 Aug 21:32
@Seney724. The nib section needs to be adjusted properly.

Hello! Is there a thread anywhere 'round here where one can post self-composed poetry? If not, would it be alright if I made one? I searched on google, but to no avail...
    • OldFatDog 26 July 19:41
I have several Parker Roller Ball & Fiber Tip refills in the original packaging. Where and how do I sell them? The couple that I've opened the ink still flowed when put to paper. Also if a pen would take the foller ball refill then it should take the fiber tip as well? Anyway it's been awhile and I'm want to take my message collection beyond the few pieces that I have... Meaning I don't have a Parker these refills will fit in 🙄
    • RegDiggins 23 July 12:40
Recently was lucky enough to buy a pristine example of the CF crocodile ball with the gold plating. Then of course I faced the same problem we all have over the years ,of trying to find e refill. Fortunately I discovered one here in the U.K. I wonder if there are other sources which exist in other countries, by the way they were not cheap pen

I have a Conway Stewart Trafalgar set. It was previously owned by actor Russell Crowe and includes a letter from him. Can anyone help me with assessing its value?
    • Sailor Kenshin 15 July 17:41
There must be a couple of places here to share artworks.
    • T.D. Rabbit 15 July 12:45
Hullo! I really like making ink doodles, and I'd like to share a few. Anywhere on the site I can do so? Thanks in advance!

    • Bill Wood 2 July 14:24
Just checking on a classified section and where we are with that. Many thanks. Bill
    • PAKMAN 29 June 1:57
@inky1 The software for the classified stopped working with the forum. So no we don't have a sales section anymore at FPN
    • inky1 28 June 16:49
I am not sure which is the classifieds section

    • dave c 25 June 19:01
Hi. Anybody ever heard about a Royal Puck Pen. Very small but good looking.
    • Eppie_Matts 23 June 19:25
Thanks! I've just ordered some #6's to experiment with.
    • Al-fresco 21 June 12:11
@Eppie_Matts Shouldn't be a problem - I've just put a Bock #6 Titanium into a La Grande Bellezza section. Went straight in without any problem.
    • Curiousone11 21 June 4:35
Any recommendations on anyone who specializes in original pen patents?
    • Eppie_Matts 20 June 1:32
Hi all - I'm new to experimenting with pens and nibs. Can I put a bock 6 on a Pineider? Thanks!

Hi, I'm new to this forum and was wondering where is the best place to sell a Montblanc ballpoint pen? Are ballpoints allowed here? It's a beautiful pen that deserves a great listing. Thanks.
    • ChrisUrbane 9 June 3:16
I havent logged in here for a while. I have moved and when I try to change my location on my profile, when I go to save it, it sais 'page not found' and that I do not have authority to change that.

I just noticed that the oppsing team of the game I watched last night had a player named Biro in their lineup. He must be part of Marsell the oily magician’s cadre
