This system is very nice, but I found out that I'm willing to share inks that almost everybody has... No point in doing that, so I removed my listing. wink.gif On the other hand I now have over 50 bottles of ink and I really can do without the inspiration of all these other inks... happy.gif

There doesn't seem to be much action in trading, perhaps because of the above? I'm not sure how far back in time to go to ask someone for a trade (I mean some posts are well over a year old).

I am thinking about buying a bottle of "unusual" ink just to have something to trade!

Well, something unusual definitely helps wink.gif but it is not necessary; plus, what is usual for you may be unusual for someone else. Some posts being well over a year old is not a problem: I traded inks with a fellow FPN member whose original post is dated September 2004; consider also that some of us periodically update their list (like I just did).

Bye.

Well youse folk have more inks than I knew existed

hahahahaha

I'm real new to the ink world...tho I'm 54....

I'm looking for all/any types of color.

I particularly want to try reds and browns...

pink and buttercup are not ruled out either.

I don't have much/any experience with the various makers.

Ink I have:

Waterman Florida Blue

Waterman Green

Swisher Maroon...I really like this...

Noodler's Black

Cross Blue and Blue/black cartridges

Stuff I have to trade:

Well..lots of cool stuff but not much in FPdom...

I have vials: Scintillation 20ml, 16ml vials, amber 4 or 5ml. (I use these for water purification kits. I put iodine granules in. alaso great for watch springbar storage.)

I'm into preparedness..so I have whistles. NOT toys, tho I give em out to kids and parents...LOUD and small.

Brunton Compass...YEP! for direction. Glow in the dark. Nice for zippers and keychains

Paracord lanyards...zipperpulls, key fobs, monkey fist

US stamps..postage...

Watch straps.....NATO, leather, rubber

I hope I can drum some colors up.

Tom

Added: I just thought of this pendom item...Moleskine pocket memo books.

Here's my humble list of inks and what they look like on my end of the web. I think I have the blues and blacks fairly under control.

Interested in branching out to other colors (greens, browns....alright, perhaps other shades of blue and black too).

Hi all,

I am new to ink trading but wanted to offer vial of Mont Blanc Blue/Black, Sepia (Brown) and Racing Green which I might refer to as Green/Black.

I am interested in acquiring any of the following:

-- Noodlers Polar Blue, Blue, Navajoe Turquoise, Purple, Polar Black

-- Diamine Umber (Green)

-- Private Reserve Purple Mojo, Chocolat, Ultra Black

If you are interested send me a PM.

I would also consider trading 1/2 bottle of any MB ink above for a 1/2 bottle of any of the Noodlers I listed above. That might make it easier to share and enjoy.

I'm new to the ink exchange, but I think it's a great idea! There are so many great sounding inks out there, and I only have so much desk space to store bottles of ink! :roller1:

I have :

PR Hot Bubble Gum

PR Tanzanite

PR American Blue

PR Shoreline Gold

PR Burgundy Mist

PR Blue Suede

Parker Quink Washable Blue

Noodler's Luxury Blue

I am interested in :

Deep purples and Greens

Dark Browns

Prefer PR, because (in my very limited experience) Noodler's seems to cause issues in my vanishing point pens.

Contact me by PM if you're interested!

None of us can have as many virtues as the fountain-pen, or half its cussedness; but we can try.

Hello all~

I'm joining the ink exchange program in response to the feedback I received regarding one of my custom mixed colors, Russian Aubergine (the discussion is in the FPN Phoenician Regal Purple topic). The color is a deep purple-black that varies to a dusty plum/raisin color, depending on the pen and paper used. You can see samples of the ink here: Russian Aubergine (the actual ink has a stronger red undertone than is shown in the photos...at least on my monitor!)

So, I have:

Russian Aubergine (waterproof purple-black, Noodler's mix)

Noodler's Bulletproof Black

Noodler's El Lawrence

Noodler's Pushkin

Noodler's Rachmaninov

Noodler's Dostoevsky

Noodler's Golden Brown

Noodler's Kiowa Pecan

Noodler's Walnut

Noodler's Firefly (Hilighter)

Noodler's Sunrise (Hilighter)

Namiki Black (also in cartridges if you prefer them to a vial)

and I would like to trade for:

ANY Noodler's waterproof inks (except Bulletproof Black, I have plenty of that!) I'd especially like to try some of the brighter blues, and the unusual "foreign" colors. If you don't have any Noodler's Waterproofs to trade and still want to sample Russian Aubergine, I'll consider other stuff--a couple of postage stamps, interesting paper, what-have-you...I'm pretty easygoing. PM me and let me know what you have!

Current favorite pen: Montblanc 144 Meisterstuck purchased at Art Brown in 1984. After decades, every part has been replaced except the nib. Still a gorgeous writing instrument, rock-solid reliable, gives me hours of pleasure to use.

Current favorite ink: Colorverse Supernovs

Current favorite paper: Romeo notepads

Hi there! Just joined. Are the forums no longer active?
    • Mercian 19 Apr 20:51
@bhavini If I were you I would not buy a dip-pen. They don't replicate the flow characteristics of fountain pens, and they will work well with some inks that will clog fountain pens. Instead of a dip-pen, I would buy a relatively-inexpensive pen that is easy to clean. E.g. a Parker Frontier and a converter for it. Its nib/feed-unit can be unscrewed from the pen, so cleaning it is very very easy.
    • finzi 18 Apr 21:44
@bhavini I ordered a Sailor Hocoro today, to use for testing. I’ll let you know what it’s like. You can get different nib sizes for it, so maybe more versatile than a glass dip pen.
    • Claes 17 Apr 8:19
      @bhavini A glass nibbed pen

@Jeffrey Sher it looks like this user used to be the organizer of the club https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/profile/8343-hj1/ perhaps you could send him a direct message, although his profile says he hasn't been on the site since 2021.

CANNOT FIND A LINK to pen club israel. what is eth website please
    • Penguincollector 15 Apr 22:48
@bhavini, I really like the Sailor Hocoro dip pen. It’s inexpensive, easy to clean, and if you get one with a nib that has a feed, you can get quite a few lines of writing before you have to dip again. I have a fude nib, which I use for swatching and line variation while writing.

lamarax, thank you for a well-informed response! I've been worried that FountainPenHospital in NYC would suffer...
    • bhavini 15 Apr 18:28
What's a relatively cheap tool for a newbie to use to try out new inks, without inking up a pen? I've a bunch of ink samples on their way but I just want to play around with them before I decide on which ones I want to buy more of for writing. I've never used anything except a fountain pen to write with ink before.
    • Penguincollector 15 Apr 17:03
Hello @Jeffrey Sher, pen club information can be found in the Pen Clubs, Meetings, and Events sub forum. If you use Google site search you can find information specific to Israel.
    • Jeffrey Sher 14 Apr 8:25
Shalom just joined . I have been collection fountain pens for many years. I believe there is a club in Israel that meets monthly. please let me have details. .
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:58
It's gonna end where 1929 left us: a world war, shambles, and 'growth by rebuilding'. That's the conservative view of cycling history --and the big plan. Even if our generations perish.
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:49
Of course trade wars are much, more important than the prices of consumer products. The true intention is to weaken the dollar, so that the Chinese start selling their US held debt. But the dollar being the defacto world reserve currency, it doesn't lose value that easily. So the idea is to target trade through artificially raising prices. Problem is, inflation will skyrocket. Good luck with that.
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:33
      Guess who loses
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:30
In Europe, the only (truly) American produced brand is Esterbrook AFAIK. Tariffs will make Esterbrook products compete on the same level as some high-end European brands (let's say Aurora), while clearly the product is manufactured to compete on a much lower price level.
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:24
So let's say you want to buy a Montblanc or whatever. You pay the current tariff on top of the usual price, unless your local distributor is willing to absorb (some) of the difference
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:20
Tariffs are paid by the importer, not the exporter.
    • TheQuillDeal 10 Apr 2:44
Can anyone explain how the tariff war will affect fountain pen prices??

    • lamarax 2 Mar 20:38
Oh well. In case of failure you can always wring the paper to have a nice -albeit somewhat stale- cup of coffee back.
    • T.D. Rabbit 2 Mar 10:20
@Astronymus I could use cornstarch... Or i could distill it and make it very concentrated.
    • T.D. Rabbit 2 Mar 10:20
@lamarax That's what I used! (In reply to black coffee).. But the milk might not be good at all for paper.

    • lamarax 17 Feb 18:05
Cappuccino should work. Frothy milk also helps to lubricate the nib. But it has to be made by a barista.

No replies required to my complaints about the Pelikan. A friend came to the rescue with some very magnification equipment - with the images thrown to a latge high res screen. Technology is a wonderful thing. Thanks to Mercian for the reply. I had been using the same paper & ink for sometime when the "singing" started. I have a theory but no proof that nibs get damaged when capping the pen. 👍
    • Mercian 22 Oct 22:28
@FineFinerFinest: sometimes nib-'singing' can be lessened - or even cured - by changing the ink that one is putting through the pen, or the paper that one is using. N.b. *sometimes*. Good luck

I'm not expecting any replies to my question about the singing Pelikan nib. It seems, from reading the background, that I am not alone. It's a nice pen. It's such a pity Pelikan can't make decent nibs. I have occasionally met users who tell me how wonderful their Pelikan nib is. I've spent enough money to know that not everyone has this experience. I've worked on nibs occasionally over forty years with great success. This one has me beaten. I won't be buying any more Pelikan pens. 👎

I've had a Pelikan M805 for a couple of years now and cannot get the nib to write without singing. I've worked on dozens of nibs with great success. Ny suggestion about what's going wrong? 😑

Perhaps it's like saying Beetlejuice 3 times to get that person to appear, though with @Sailor Kenshin you only have to say it twice?

I have several Parker Roller Ball & Fiber Tip refills in the original packaging. Where and how do I sell them? The couple that I've opened the ink still flowed when put to paper. Also if a pen would take the foller ball refill then it should take the fiber tip as well? Anyway it's been awhile and I'm want to take my message collection beyond the few pieces that I have... Meaning I don't have a Parker these refills will fit in 🙄
