I'd love to join in here! Relatively new to fountain pens but already addicted to inks. Check my signature please!

I am open to any good shading or scented ink but am looking in particular for:

Sailor Jentle Apricot

Sailor Jentle Grenade

Any Iroshizuku (will offer two samples in trade because I know this is expensive)

Noodler's Lexington Gray

Akkerman Voorhout Violet

De Atramentis Almond Blossom (scented)

De Atramentis Bookworm (scented)

I'm always up for an ink trade!

I have to trade:

  • Waterman Purple
  • "Waterman Florida Blue" (I suspect this bottle is either mislabeled or concentrated; it is much more saturated and lightfast than I would expect of Waterman Bleu Effacable)
  • Diamine Sherwood
  • Sheaffer Turquoise (Slovenian)
  • Noodler's Borealis Black
  • Noodler's Red-Black (diluted a bit with local well water, soft and a touch acidic, to mitigate smudging)
  • Pilot Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku (Peacock)

and while these are my wife's inks, she's said I may make exchanges as long as I notify her in advance of doing so:

  • Noodler's Bad Black Moccasin
  • Noodler's VMail Midway Blue
  • Noodler's Blue
  • Noodler's Widow Maker (a somewhat darkish, highly lightfast red)

I am interested in lightfast inks, particularly dark, middling-to-warm browns, and really well-behaved blue-blacks, such as:

  • Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-Guri
  • Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-kai
  • Pilot Blue-Black
  • Diamine Macassar
  • Sheaffer Red

If you have any other suggestions, by all means PM them to me.

  • Diamine Sherwood would be my choice from your stash.

I also have a new bottle of Sailor Jentle blue black you may be interested in a sample of.

I also have glycerin to swap for some photo flo so I can compare the two products.

Hello folks!

Very new here, and completely new to this, but I have:

- Chesterfield's new antique line (Antique Jade, Antique Slate, Antique Raspberry)

- Diamine Sherwood Green

- Diamine Oxblood

- Noodler's Baystate Blue

And for something a little more interesting:

- KWZ Green #2 Iron Gall, and

- KWZ Blue #5 Iron Gall.

I'd like

-Emerald of Chivor (or other anniversary inks)

-Bungbox (Sapphire or 4B, but probably any color -- I just want to see what the fuss is all about)

-Something that would look nice in a .8 stub nib for a signature on white paper.

-Make an offer -- send a PM!

Thanks!

Kyle

I’ve found that Pilot inks work extremely well in Pilot pens so I’m planning to buy these Iroshizuku inks but I would love to sample them first just to be sure I like them because they are not cheap. If I don't end up getting the samples I will probably just go ahead and buy the bottles. Even if you have used samples or .5ml of the Pilot inks, I'm not picky.

It looks like people may be using this thread again? I'm quoting my old post to show that it's still current, but I have many many new colors as well that I would love to share!

A short list of (some of) what I have available is:

All of the anniversary Diamine inks,

Franklin-Christoph Midnight Emerald, Loden, Black Cherry, Terra Firma, Brown 732,

Mont Blanc Corn Poppy Red, Lavender Purple, Oyster Grey, (and if I really want what you're offering I have LE Pink and LE Tolstoy Blue)

Some of what I'd like to try:

Pelikan Edelstein Mandarin

Mont Blanc Inks

Lamy Inks

Rohrer & Klingner Inks

See Below

Still would appreciate PM's for interested parties.

On 5/1/2015 at 1:56 AM, Miyuki said:

I have 5mL vials. They're a lot like the Goulet Pens ones.

I'm eager for pretty much any ink, but I'm most interested in European inks. Color-wise, I am interested in reds, blues, greens, and blacks. But as said, I'm interested in many things.

I have (and am willing to trade)

Wancher Matcha Green

Wancher Asuka Brown (this writes like a really dark purple/magenta)

Wancher Imari Blue

Wancher Tenmoku Black

Wancher Ebine Violet (this is pretty magenta)

Wancher Chocolate Brown (this one is actually brown)

Noodlers Baystate Concord Grape

Noodlers Golden Brown

Noodlers Red Black

Noodlers Tienanmen

Noodlers Black Swan in Australian Roses

Private Reserve Ebony Blue

Windsor & Newton Calligraphy Ink Blue Black

Ink Sample Exchange Post

I have many unlisted but I'm trying not to spam the thread.

I also am happy to provide new vials for samples too!

@Jeffrey Sher it looks like this user used to be the organizer of the club https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/profile/8343-hj1/ perhaps you could send him a direct message, although his profile says he hasn't been on the site since 2021.

CANNOT FIND A LINK to pen club israel. what is eth website please
    • Penguincollector 15 Apr 22:48
@bhavini, I really like the Sailor Hocoro dip pen. It’s inexpensive, easy to clean, and if you get one with a nib that has a feed, you can get quite a few lines of writing before you have to dip again. I have a fude nib, which I use for swatching and line variation while writing.

lamarax, thank you for a well-informed response! I've been worried that FountainPenHospital in NYC would suffer...
    • bhavini 15 Apr 18:28
What's a relatively cheap tool for a newbie to use to try out new inks, without inking up a pen? I've a bunch of ink samples on their way but I just want to play around with them before I decide on which ones I want to buy more of for writing. I've never used anything except a fountain pen to write with ink before.
    • Penguincollector 15 Apr 17:03
Hello @Jeffrey Sher, pen club information can be found in the Pen Clubs, Meetings, and Events sub forum. If you use Google site search you can find information specific to Israel.

Shalom just joined . I have been collection fountain pens for many years. I believe there is a club in Israel that meets monthly. please let me have details. .

It's gonna end where 1929 left us: a world war, shambles, and 'growth by rebuilding'. That's the conservative view of cycling history --and the big plan. Even if our generations perish.
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:49
Of course trade wars are much, more important than the prices of consumer products. The true intention is to weaken the dollar, so that the Chinese start selling their US held debt. But the dollar being the defacto world reserve currency, it doesn't lose value that easily. So the idea is to target trade through artificially raising prices. Problem is, inflation will skyrocket. Good luck with that.
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:33
      Guess who loses
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:30
In Europe, the only (truly) American produced brand is Esterbrook AFAIK. Tariffs will make Esterbrook products compete on the same level as some high-end European brands (let's say Aurora), while clearly the product is manufactured to compete on a much lower price level.
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:24
So let's say you want to buy a Montblanc or whatever. You pay the current tariff on top of the usual price, unless your local distributor is willing to absorb (some) of the difference
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:20
Tariffs are paid by the importer, not the exporter.
    • TheQuillDeal 10 Apr 2:44
Can anyone explain how the tariff war will affect fountain pen prices??

    • FineFinerFinest 24 Oct 8:52
No replies required to my complaints about the Pelikan. A friend came to the rescue with some very magnification equipment - with the images thrown to a latge high res screen. Technology is a wonderful thing. Thanks to Mercian for the reply. I had been using the same paper & ink for sometime when the "singing" started. I have a theory but no proof that nibs get damaged when capping the pen. 👍

@FineFinerFinest: sometimes nib-'singing' can be lessened - or even cured - by changing the ink that one is putting through the pen, or the paper that one is using. N.b. *sometimes*. Good luck

I'm not expecting any replies to my question about the singing Pelikan nib. It seems, from reading the background, that I am not alone. It's a nice pen. It's such a pity Pelikan can't make decent nibs. I have occasionally met users who tell me how wonderful their Pelikan nib is. I've spent enough money to know that not everyone has this experience. I've worked on nibs occasionally over forty years with great success. This one has me beaten. I won't be buying any more Pelikan pens. 👎

I've had a Pelikan M805 for a couple of years now and cannot get the nib to write without singing. I've worked on dozens of nibs with great success. Ny suggestion about what's going wrong? 😑

Hello all - New here. My Art studies have spilled me into the ft pen world where I am happily submerged and floating! I'm looking to repair some cheap pens that are starving for ink yet filled, and eventually get new nibs; and development of repair skills (an even longer learning curve than my art studies - lol). Every hobby needs a hobby, eh ...

Perhaps it's like saying Beetlejuice 3 times to get that person to appear, though with @Sailor Kenshin you only have to say it twice?

@Seney724. The pen was recently disassembled and cleaned, but the nib and feed were not properly inserted into the holder. I'm in Maryland.
    • Diablo 26 Aug 21:32
@Seney724. The nib section needs to be adjusted properly.

    • OldFatDog 26 July 19:41
I have several Parker Roller Ball & Fiber Tip refills in the original packaging. Where and how do I sell them? The couple that I've opened the ink still flowed when put to paper. Also if a pen would take the foller ball refill then it should take the fiber tip as well? Anyway it's been awhile and I'm want to take my message collection beyond the few pieces that I have... Meaning I don't have a Parker these refills will fit in 🙄
    • RegDiggins 23 July 12:40
Recently was lucky enough to buy a pristine example of the CF crocodile ball with the gold plating. Then of course I faced the same problem we all have over the years ,of trying to find e refill. Fortunately I discovered one here in the U.K. I wonder if there are other sources which exist in other countries, by the way they were not cheap pen
