Noodlers Shah's Rose

As with all my reviews I try to be consistent in color. However with the number of variables involved in matching a color to everyone's monitor, what you see on yours might not be the actual color, but it should be a fairly close representation.

This and all my other ink reviews are available at my site: Pens and Ink

Thank you for the review - I have PR Arabian Rose at the moment but this looks pinker based on the scan and I think I like it! Is the rumour of its demise true or can I keep my finger off the 'buy' button?

BTW

I've just been across to your site - excellent - I'll be going back regularly, but no RSS feed? Any chance that will happen then I can add it to my reader?

Waterproof? Or water resistant??? Very interesting color. Love Seguaro Wine but very poor resistance to water. This might be a winner if it's reistant to rain or the occassional waterdrop

Thanks for the comments on the site. Not exactly sure how to do an RSS feed, I'll have to look into it. It has to be updated with these two ink reviews. As well I have another section planned I need to start work on.

As for the rumour, I'm not really sure. I literally just read it somewhere and I can't remember where, but I was in the market for some new inks so I figured I'd pick it up.

Not sure on water resistance or proofness. I don't believe this is in those categories though. I can try some tests and see what happens though and report back!

I bought some Shah's Rose in a sample size from Pear Tree and have it loaded in my white Prera. The ink pretty much washed away when I put the page under running water, but the rose color is just so lovely that I kept it on my list.

I purchased a bottle of Shah's Rose and I'm not entranced with the color. I'm not sure what I expected but as penguinmaster said, it's kind of a reddish pink ... maybe with a little violet hue.

I'm finding that, for accent and variety, I like the Noodler's red/orange colors like Habanero and their deep reds, like Tienanmen but not the lavenders or pinks. That's good because I'm trying to whittle down my ink inventory to about six bottles.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
