Noodlers Bad Blue Heron

In fact, with the teal overtone especially, it is reminiscent of Waterman Blue-Black when it first goes onto the page.

I'd say it dries to a teal-ish color that's almost a dead ringer for Waterman B-B. BBH doesn't fade the way Waterman B-B does, though.

I love this ink. I use it in a Pilot 78G with a medium nib on Clairefontaine paper. Kind of looks like a darker aqua blue with this combination. I like it a lot. Almost as much as Legal Lapis.

I haven't experienced any nib creep with this ink, but I also have not dipped a FP nib in the ink. The ink is kind of difficult to clean of so I've been filling by syringe.

Thanks for a great review with a very accurate scan. - the latter is very good since this review contributed to my decision to buy it. This is such a lovely, vivid blue.

Looks like other noodler teal like mixes.

I wonder if anybody could do a side-by-side comparison between Bad Blue Heron and Texas Blue Bonnet?

I only have Blue Bonnet here (it's my current favorite blue), but the Heron scan just looks similar enough for me to wonder.

Just got a sample of this from Pear Tree Pens and immediately wrote with it on RHodia tablet, then ran it under running water for a few minutes. Not only did it stay on the page almost unchanged, but there was no bleed-through on the page. Very impressed with the ink and the color. Also virtually odor-free, which is nice for a Noodler's bulletproof ink

I'm so tired of all the FPN types that ask the question...." does it look good on (really) cheap copy paper".Get with the program. You're using a fountain pen for god's sake ! Stop using toilet paper, and get something for your pens and your life. It's bad enough to have to use certain paper due to various constraints ($$). It's quite another to desire it so on daily toilet paper because you like to use that stuff. FTOUOTIFPL...Copy paper 4 printer....writing paper 4 pens...try to remember, please. FYI... there are so many fine papers out there so as to make the purchase less painful. Blue Heron really does it's trick best on Claire....and other fine papers. Additionally, Penman-S... had that red sheen/glo at certain viewing angles and under certain lighting conditions. Only Diamine's Majestic B displays such a quality in a very similar blue.

I use my fountain pens at work and have no control over the quality of paper provided to me, therefore it is VERY imporatant that an ink perform well on low-bid copy paper.

So is Bad Blue Heron a blue-black coloured ink?

You can answer that question for yourself by looking at the first post in the thread. This is a review thread, after all.

That's a bit unfair, especially for people that use the pen at work. Also although it's nice to have good quality paper, where does it end? If you're on a budget and you expect someone to get a nice pen, quality paper, a selection of inks etc. when a $2 gel pen will write smoothly, and with good color even on toilet paper then you're essentially saying that unless you are willing to spend a bit of money forget about fountain pens.

Wow. You must have been having a very bad day.

I've been on a quest to see if I could commit all Seven Deadly Sins in a single day. Finally, it dawned on me I shouldn't try for the One Day Wonder Prize for all seven in one day. It's simply out of any question as you can't commit decent sloth while busily ticking the other six off your crowded "to do" list. -- ViolinWriter

One of my ink uses is grading, and I can't very well require a bunch of college students to submit their work on Rhodia.

I must have gotten a bad batch, this stuff dries up in every pen I've tried it in. Tried adding about 1/3 distilled water and all I succeeded in was making the color lighter! *sigh* A capped fountain pen should not stop writing over night!

I've tried it in: Noodler's piston filler, Noodler's ebonite and a Rotring Surf with identical results.

It really does seem to look a lot like Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo! Can anyone out there put up a scan of both together yet? :)

Nice looking color!
