Best Ink For A Montblanc?

I heard somewhere that Lamy and MB have same ink contents (not sure the truth of it, though). That sounds like a rip-off to me.

Anyway, there isn't any best ink for a certain pen brand. There IS a best ink for a certain paper/nib combo.

And I stay away from iron galls if I can. I can't remember to clean my pen out after every two fills, and iron gall ink ups pen upkeep by tenfold.

The best ink for your pen is the ink you like the best.

Mb blue black. Have always liked this old school iron gall, the cool grey blue, its permanence. Always have a couple 149s filled with it. I don't flush more frequently than any other ink, probably because i am continuously using and refilling, and never had a problem over the years.

I have heard there can be warranty issues if you use non-MB ink. It might be worth calling MB.

I have certainly had some issues with there pens and service recently. I have only used there ink. I hate the black. The green is great.

+1 on this: "Anyway, there isn't any best ink for a certain pen brand. There IS a best ink for a certain paper/nib combo."

I've used Montblanc Midnight Blue (which has an iron gall component) in a number of pens with no problems. Just flush with water before each refill. I even get the impression that this acidic MB ink has actually cleaned and improved the flow in at least one pen.

Just be carefull using it (or any iron gall ink) in pens like the 144 (or Pelikan Souverän) that has metal trim close to the nib..... iron gall is acidic and there is potential for metal corrosion.

The Meisterstück collection are professional writing instruments, not just status symbols as some would have you believe. The latest Montblanc inks are IMO a definite improvement over the older ones and will not harm your pens but you owe it to yourself to experiment and discover which inks you prefer....
