Best Ink For A Montblanc?

msamammela

Recommended Posts

I just received two Montblanc pens as gifts (my friends and family know me well!). The first is the Meisterstuk and the second is the Greta Garbo.

I've never had a Montblanc before am wondering what everyone's favorite inks are to use in their Montblancs.

Thanks!

I'm going to go with Montblanc ink. I prefer Blue-Black, British Racing Green and Bordeaux. You'll likely get a wide variety of repsonses to this question.

Mont BLanc. I like royal blue, racing green, and violet.

I use EXACTLY the same! British Racing Green in my Copernicus and Blue-Black/Bordeaux in my 149s.

I'd start with MB royale blue. It's a standard ink in the sense that it's not very heavy flowing or "dry".

And it's a very attractive ink appropriate for business and pleasure.

FWIW, I'm using Waterman Blue-Black in my newly acquired 149's. Works well... :)

Any ink that is not made by MontBlanc! I would recommend Aurora Black, Waterman inks, Parker inks, and Visconti inks. Aurora Black is in my opinion the best performing ink made today. Aurora Blue is a little dryer.

Aurora Optima Burgundy Celluloid

MontBlanc 149

MontBlanc Starwalker Cool Blue

MontBlanc 144

It's all about experimenting. Take two 149's, put in the same ink and they both function differently. So you can't know until you try out a batch of diff inks.Take one of my Montegrappas for example: dry as a bone with Noodlers Burgundy, wet with Noodlers Purple and Aurora Blue.??????????

Thanks

I use J. Herbin, MB and Pelikan inks in all my piston fill FP's, including my MB's. These three brands give me a very good variety of colors, and all of them perform excellently.

Introduce me to your 'friends & family' and we'll discuss! ;)

Seriously, whatever you like that you feel flows well & writes well in your particular pen. Naturally avoid all "India" & "drawing" type inks. Start off will some well known brands - J. Herbin, Private Reserve, Noodlers, etc. and experiment - that's half the fun!

I use MB, Diamine, Herbin, Waterman and Iroshizuku inks with success in the nine MBs I have on the go at the moment. Enjoy your new pens.

Sure! I mean why would you want to use an ink that was formulated to use with MB pens?

Ignoring previous posts - so this is what I do/use.

I used Montblanc ink in my Meisterstück and Faulkener.

Recently I also started using DeAtramentis in my Faulkner.

Baiscally, any brand with a decent reputation will do the job :)

I haven't put Diamine in my Motblancs yet, not sure I will as that contain a lot of "colour" - maybe I will one day.

Ideally you can also searh forums like these :)

I've filled my Faulkn with DeAtramentis because I knew people on a German fouuntainpen forum hve done so before.

Most inks will also have somthing like "ink for fountainpens" written on the box.

Experiment and use the ink that appeals to you in terms of color, wetness, etc. Personally I like Herbin and MB inks. But I came to this conclusion after trying Parker, Waterman, Aurora, etc. Have fun!

Those are some friends. What next a Bently GT Speed?

I use a fountain pen because one ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and, if it were possible, to write a few reasonable words with a fountain pen.
