Effin1. Lets keep the aspiration of a gold overlaid HS pen alive following your op. Please keep the forum informed as to your progress and, of course, choice of pen. If you would like to view my Grand Exhibition at anytime then please let me know. Its erm not really lady like although Fatima Whitbread maybe able to carry it off !

IVs and contrast dyes will certainly mess with the typing. But wait 'til they start inserting artificial bits! :yikes:

I've got a few of those artificial bits.... Though only small ones.

I expect Ghost Plane will be dissagreeing about big pens not being lady like!

I saw a Grand Exhibition at the Pen Show at Lytham. It made my eyes water. I have a YOL Viceroy Grand Victorian and it makes my wrist hurt after about 1/2 page. I've got a standard as well in barley but I find that a bit too slight. 1 inbetween would be perfect. Hopefully my HS overlay. I will let you know my progress - taking the I Pad in with me so I can check in to FPN

Henry - MRI scans are done by the magic of huge magnets - so the noise you hear is the magnets doing their work........MRI means Magnetic *something* Image. I had one in London in 1987 and luckily had Suzanne to sit at the end of the tray where I was laid - she was a nurse then, and they let her do this because of that..........I had music too, and am also frightened about having my face covered and being enclosed in small spaces, and as I was having a head MRI and then a neck and upper spine following that one, I had to come out of the thing after half an hour and be fixed into a different head restraint and then put back in the machine...................I used my meditation skills to save me from panic, and took my mind back to the Great Barrier Reef, to Green Island, where we used to spend a lot of time with the kids...........and have fun watching the feeding of fish from the safely of the underwater observatory........and I told myself the noise of the scanner was just the noise of an outboard motor on a boat. Suzanne held onto my foot the whole time - and I just did it! My scan was late because the man in there before me kept hitting his panic button - so I told myself I could do better than a man!!!!

Back to pens please..................and good luck to GP and Effin1. If I can do it, anyone can!

Each day is the start of the rest of your life!

Make it count!!!

Or sit in the CHAIR?

The naughty chair? Or his imperial throne? Or are they one and the same?

I might have you know that I have my own personal Comfy Chair in my booth up at Portobello Road! And I have just got back from sitting in it all day today!

The results for the day's efforts, [all that sitting around in the comfy chair is quite loathsome you know?] :( were limited to the amount that I took in terms of the repairs that I had done during the week, but anyway, I enjoyed the day, overall it was a good day.

Mr Truffle, if you get tired of the pen world maybe you could start drawing tattoo templates?

For those of you who might be interested, the most difficult part of making that last design [La Danse- Mucha] was the piercing out of the graduated holes set in the crescent shape above the lady!

It's a very strange phenomenon , how something so seemingly simple as circles cut into the sheet metal could present such difficulties, but I can assure you, that I spent about the same amount of time cutting them and altering their sizes as required, as I did cutting the rest of the pattern out!

In fact, if you look very carefully, you will see that I changed the crescent from the drawing so that it ended up well clear of the lady's hair, thinking that it would make my life simpler! In fact the hair would have disguised any mistakes in the sizes of the graduations of the holes! :hmm1:

Still, I'm very pleased with it.

I hope you agree.

PS.Mr. Pen Nut, I have actually used 'tattoo' designs for a few of my pen designs, but I don't think that I will be considering getting out of the pen business, any time soon.

For the benefit of the 'guests' who visit this thread from time to time, I would like to draw your attention to a thread on a different Forum, it goes under the heading of Jean Esterbrook. [it is 'pinned', near the top of the forum.]

A very good friend of mine is coming over from USA, to visit the UK for a week, and amongst other things, we wll be trying to find the location of the small hamlet where the Esterbrooks lived before they moved to the USA permanently. I am hoping that I will be able to get a few descent photographs of the house, if I do, then they will be posted here, or on the other thread!
