I like Centigonal have read the thread from the beginning. I was surprised Truffle Finder was not outed before as he signed himself Henry instead of Truffle Finder early on in the thread. Well, I have to go in hospital at the end of May to have something 'nasty' removed from my neck. I have decided that if I survive I am buying a Henry Simpole overlay in gold. My only problem is which 1. I love the lady but I also love the fairies. It's keeping me going thinking about it and stopping me dwelling on other things. Thank you Henry.

I wish you a very happy outcome at the end of May, and a speedy recovery too! What a choice of pens to reward yourself with!!! May the decision take you many happy hours - and do ring Henry - he's lovely to talk to! :cloud9:

All were blinded by those pens....yikes.gif

Will be sending good thoughts and prayers your way for a speedy recovery. And you should do as Chris says....do give him a ring. You will enjoy the Truffle as much as the pen selection process. cloud9.gif

Pen Nut,

When I have completed the overlays, then I send them to the Assay Office to be marked, usually they are without the base pens fitted inside the o/lays, but I have on some occassions done them 'on the pens' when the whole process has been completed, [this could only be done using the laser type of Marks!] It was a pleasant surpise when I found out that no harm came to the base pens!

Conway Stewart's Hall Mark is indeed CS.

Incidently, when I did the CS Centenary O/lay pens, there were about 200 in Silver, and 10 in Gold, there were similarly largish numbers made of the Henry Simpole O/lay pen, so it was a great relief when I went over to the laser marking, mainly because to make them 'true' after they had been distorted, each one had to be put onto a steel mandrill, and hit with a leather mallet to re-shape them!

Truffle Finder.

Thanks for that information. I finally get how its done and the laser way of marking must make life a little easier for craftsmen such as yourself and take away the worry about what shape your creations are going to be returned in!

Keep up the great work Mr Truffle

I hope it goes well and you have a speedy recovery.

Hi Effin1 just you get yourself well again after your op: and do get in touch when you are fully recovered and we can have a chat.

I must admit that I thought I would have been found out [i think it was around New Year's Eve!] but nobody knew, or nobody said anything if they did notice!!! I am very impressed with your determination to trawl all the way through this thread from the beginning! It just shows, there's no accounting for taste!

Recovery Vibes coming over right now,OK?

Adding to the recovery vibes, Effin1. Been in for a bit of maintenance myself lately and there's nothing like a good pen to aid in the recovery.

What with several of Henry's in the collection, I'm catching up on bills while I wait to see if inspiration strikes again. :hmm1:

Welcome back Ghost Plane!

Me and the Comfy chair were wondering where you had got to!

I hope that you are getting over your 'maintenance!'

If you ever thought that this thread was a little 'wide of the mark', you ought to pop over to the Pelikan forum, and have a look at 'TEST.......Please Ignore', they really are nuts over there!!! :headsmack:

Yep. I'm one that didn't fall too far from that tree.

Only intermittant as I get a crashing headache as yet trying to spend more than a little time in front of a screen, so expect me when you see me. Sort of like the Cheshire Cat. :meow:

Thank you for your kind thoughts and wishes. You are helping me to keep positive. Had MRI scan yesterday and they stuck a needle in my wrist. Can't write typing hard hope it's gone 2morrow.

Thinking of fairies and roses together. I'm such a girl. I think they would look stunning on my new pen.

IVs and contrast dyes will certainly mess with the typing. But wait 'til they start inserting artificial bits! :yikes:

Roses and Fairies on a pen together will certainly make you smile.........smile so much that it may just join at the back of your head??? :vbg:

Take each day as it comes............ this time of anticipation will be the worst for you - believe me!

Afterwards you will wonder why you worried at all.

Lovely to see GP back - and I'm sending 'shoo-headache' vibes right now! :clap1:

edited to add...............

Oops! Forgot to say thank you to Neal - great update!

I see my fairy pen in its infancy is included - :cloud9:

Effin1. All the very best with your up & coming procedure

Why are MRi scans so terribly noisey? I had one and although it look very high tech the noise was unbelivable. Sounded like someone had a pnematic drill on the top of the machine every few minutes.

Oh and talk about fear of enclosed spaces....... anyway best wishes to you and think about that new Mr Truffle pen when you are fit & well again.

Pen Nut you are right about the noise. They gave me music to listen to but I couldn't hear it over the racket the machine was making. Wrist much better today. Firm date for op 24th May pre op assessment 14th May plus needle aspiration (ouch). Small op tomorrow on my eye. My eyelashes are turning in. Should be good as new when they have finished with me. Still looking forward to getting my HS overlay.
