Has Anyone Heard Of Henry Simpole?

Scene: Peter Sellers, dressed in German helmet, holding a cigarette in an affected manner, rises up from the fake 'plants-set' of the Downtown Burbank Studio. :hmm1:

"Veeeeeerry interesting!!!" :glare:

Einstien, dressed in similar garb, emerges [with an equally affected way of holding his cigarette,] from the fake bushes! "But stupid!!!"

Peter Sellers: "But still, veeeeeeerry interesting!!!" -_-

Einstien: "But also veeeery stupid!"

Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In circa: 1969. "Veeeery intersesting!"

Truffle Finder! Sorry, I just had to do it! I promise I won't do it again, not for a while anyway!!!

[back to the comfy chair, "Oh! Hi Ghost Plane!!!! What are you doing here?" :hmm1:  :P

The naughty chair is looking a bit overloaded. There's only so much naughtiness a fake Arne Jacobsen 3107 can take.

Ah! But this is a very 'special' Comfy Chair!

It was the one that Frazier's Father used to use in the sit-com a few years ago,  you know, the one with the really tasteful upholstery ?!!!!!

It's really Comfy, you know???

Mary Lou, is a very friendly lady who we have known for quite a long time now. She is an avid collector of vintage fountain pens, and has taken to studying the therapeutic value of good quality 'Comfy Chairs'!

So she is conducting her research with the help of Ghost Plane and myself, seeing as we are all occupying the chair for the foreseeable future!

Probably better known for her thesis about the 'Comfy Chair' [published 1983, under the 'Pen-name' of Miss. Understood!] she has progressed to World Class status as 'the' authority on the subject. :hmm1: ;)

But most people that know her just call her Mary Lou!

So, now you know!!!

Just out of interest, 'Pen Nut', were you told about the subliminal initials CS in the cap-overlay? :hmm1:

When I was at an American pen show a few years ago, [shortly after the Great Exhibition Pen had been released] most of the people who I met who owned one, didn't seem to know anything about the hidden initials, apparently nobody had told them! They [Conway Stewart] sold about 70 of them. Which was a pity [that they hadn't mentioned it], particularly as it had taken me a whole week-end to just get the 'drawing' right, so that it was 'subliminal', but not 'obvious' when observed for the first time! The acanthus leaves in the design were 'snitched' from wall-paper designs of the William Morris pattern book! He was one of my first 'design heros' at that stage in my overlay work. :puddle:

Have you actually used the pen? You probably wouldn't want to write a thesis with it, but it is not as unwieldy as it appears to be, although it would be totally unnecessary to have the cap 'posted' when writing with it.

Thanks for posting the picture on here, it is nice that someone has made the effort to post something instead of just visiting this thread!

Truffle Finder.

PS. I hope that you enjoy the pen.

Never heard of the 'subliminal CS' but will certainly take a look. Never inked nor dipped this one and, as you state, despite its appearance it does fit the hand very well and does feel balanced. However I feel posting would push 'too much' into the 'way too much' bracket for me.

Hi Peanut!

Perhaps you would be kind enough to post a second picture here, showing the fairly large letter 'C', and the much larger 'S' on the cap.

That's if you can find them!!!

Highlighted in red. Hope the S is correct. I was getting a migrane towards the end and started to see a letter H & W !!!!

Good morning Pen Nut!

The 'C' is right, but the top swirl of the 'S' needs to be stretched upwards, to almost the top of the overlay. The 'S' in fact is nearly the length of the cap overlay!

Great pictures though. Thanks, for posting them, sorry to hear that you got a Migraine as a result! :(

There's dedication for you!!!

Hi Billydo!!!

Once again , great job on the photography! :hmm1:

How's the 'La Danse' one coming along?

Yes, Esterbex, you've hit the nail right on the head there!

I must apologise Pen Nut, I didn't realise at the time of writing it, but I referred to you as 'Peanut'! I am sorry about that, I won't do it again. BTW, you're not related to Jimmy Carter by any chance are you? :hmm1:

They say that there is always a connection when it comes to Freudian Slips :hmm1:

"Now come on you two, shift up a bit, there must be room for all four of us!!! :doh:On the comfy chair!
