Has Anyone Heard Of Henry Simpole?

I distinctly recall hearing shutters stealthily clicking in close proximity on occasion with persons holding cameras and thinly disguised looks of innocence on their visages. So my attempts to avoid capture may have been unsuccessful. We'll see what pops up.

As for the WF's, an unfamiliar variety attempted attack, but were laid waste upon by unseen forces and were dispatched before they could take hold and cause any damage. So I survived unscathed, despite my champion's absence.

Your photos are wonderful 'Esterbex', but the one of you is by far the best!!! I am sending huge hugs through it - just for you!! :cloud9:

Sounds like everyone enjoyed themselves..........even though Henry wasn't there :crybaby:

The photos I took would have been better if I'd had a real camera instead of a tablet computer. Hard to beat a professional digital SLR like Jon's.

As for the 'smile', I'd say it was more in response to comments being made as the pic was being snapped. :roflmho: But I did my share to promote the economy. Yes ma'am I did.

ETA: :cloud9: Hugging you back, Chris!

It's a bit of a shame that there will always be a time-lapse, between talking about a new design of an overlay for a pen, or in this case, a series of pens, [Fairies], and getting them done, and then getting them sent off to Neal for the photography, then showing them on this thread, but having finished 5 of the series, I will send then to him today, and so hopefully he will be posting them on here in the fullness of time!

In the meantime there are still a few of the tracing-paper designs that he [hopefully] will be showing here shortly.

Now I'm off to look at the 'Meetings and Events Forum', and hopefully see some more photographs of familiar faces who were at the Little Rock Pen Show! I really do wish I'd been there!

I've got a few minutes to go before I have to leave to get to Portobello.

It looks as though it might be a fairly busy day again, I have had two phone calls asking me if I will be there as usual, so it all bodes well!

I am also seeing someone who wants to sell their Limited Edition Mont Blanc fountain Pen.

I'll report back when I have returned home later, after I have got myself a mug of tea!

Here's some more shots of Henry's initial sketch/traced designs, some of which never made the production stage. I'm sure he will comment further once he has seen the images on here.

Happy Easter everyone.

Neal.

I must say, that some of these images are pretty good, even if that does sound a bit conceited to say it myself, but bearing in mind that most of them were done about three years ago, it is almost as though I have just seen them for the first time, and I have to say that whilst I hadn't made them all into full overlays, I might well do so now!

A number of them were 'snitched' from a couple of books about advertising posters from the Edwardian era, which would [i suppose] explain why some of the ladies are looking so lovely and inviting! [some of the best ones were advertising silk stockings!]

A lot of them appear to be by my favourite artist, Alphonse Mucha, of course. :notworthy1:

I have the house to myself for the long Easter weekend, so maybe I will dig some of these images out, and start with re-newed vigour, and we'll see what results!

Have a very happy Easter.

These are lovely Henry...............and thanks Neal for posting them!

I like quite a few of them..........in the top pair of pics, in the right hand one, the centre pic of the middle line. I also love the floral drawing........like Bluebells or Lily of the Valley at the very left of the second set down.

Bring on the Fairies please!!!! :cloud9:

Happy Easter everyone!

I would chose the last pic and woman #3 counting from left to right. More of a Pre-Raphaelite air with the longer hair than the bobbed hair on the others. I like her "flow"

I've just spent most of the morning, and so far this afternoon, drawing and piercing out the rather 'risquee' lady, [far right of the second frame of pictures that Neal posted]. I had to make her smaller than appears in the actual image, because I want her to be seen clearly when it is curled and mounted on the pen, from one angle, without the need to turn the pen around.

I just wish I knew how to post pictures on here, I would love to show you on here.

But I'm afraid that will have to wait until I can send Neal the original article!

I'm really happy with it! :cloud9:

Hello again!

It's nearly 4.00am, and I can't sleep, so I've made a mug of tea, and if I don't start feeling tired pretty soon, I will be tempted to finish the 'piercing out' of the overlay that I spent most of yesterday working on, there actually isn't a great deal to do, it is just the surrounding patterns to do, all the complicated parts have already been done. :embarrassed_smile

Good night all!!!

Hi there!

Despite my having a broken night's sleep last night, I was up fairly early this morning, and went off to a small local church hall Antiques Fair, it was advertised as starting at 8.00am but when I got there, there were not many stall holders actually there, leave alone having 'set-up' their stalls! Anyway, I had a look at the books stall, but unfortunately there weren't any of any interest to me, so I got chatting to one of the stall-holders who I was fairly familiar with, we chewed the fat for a little while, during which time the fair started to look as though they were ready to trade!

I looked around for fountain pens, but didn't see a single example, so I went round a second time, slower this time, and then I noticed a glass stemmed dip pen, with layers of coloured sands from Allum Bay inside the glass stem/body, the lady then approached, and said that she also had a pencil to go with it,[i was so keen to 'buy' something] that I gave her the amount she asked for the two pieces. On the third tour of the hall, I spied a boxed Conway Stewart Fountain Pen [No:759] with matching propelling pencil, in near 'Mint' condition! I was so pleased to have found something else amongst such a spartan display, that I again gave the amount that was asked for it!

It all seemed like it had certainly been worth getting up early, to go there even though I had not had much sleep last night.

See Y'awll!

To take our minds off the abortive attempt by N. Korea to send a rocket into space, [and in the process nearly provoking the Japanese and Chinese Governments retaliating!] I thought I would let you know that I am waiting for the Fed-X delivery man to drop off the overlays to me today for 'finishing', [basically, cleaning and polishing.] These are the overlays that are for the 'joint ops' pen project that are being done by myself and Bruno Corsini. His 'Holiness' is making the base-pens in red hard rubber, and I have been doing the overlays!

Everything seems to be going fine, but for the difference between Bruno's definition of 'finishing', and mine! [Only joking Bruno!!!] :headsmack: :P

When I've 'finished' them to the best of my ability, they will be returned to the 'Land of the Free', and things no doubt will start rolling off the production line at the Bruno Corsini Corporation's factory!

We'll no doubt keep you 'posted' on progress.
