This 'Fairies' thing has really got me going!

I am pleased to tell you that I have done the first one of the series, using Morning Glory as the backdrop.

Judging from the drawings that I have to choose from, it looks as though there will be about 8 or 9 different fairies, and the one that I am working on today is a different size from yesterday's one, so some of them will be similar to the Myrtle Pen, while the others will be more like the standard sized 'Henry' Pens!

I'm really excited about this project, I'm quite surprised how it has enthused me!!!

See y'awll!

Hi Ghost Plane,

I'm surprised that there are any Fairies left down your way, haven't they all been gobbled up by the alligators!!! ?

Nice to have you back here again.

The Fae were here first and the gators know to leave them alone. Otherwise they're turned into shoes, belts, and pen cases. :bunny01:

Just received my Onoto Heritage yesterday. Turns out that Henry Simpole's quite a talented guy :P

Too many pens; too little writing.

Thanks for he compliment Mongrelnomad!

So, what do you think about the pen? And the overlay?

PS, Any chance of posting a few photographs, of the pen, and perhaps some writing samples here?

The pen really surprised me. It is astonishingly well built, shaming pens double and even triple its price. The overlay is gorgeous - I think what surprised me the most (having never seen your work before) was the three-dimensionality of it. I expected it to be flat and lifeless, but the silver itself has surprising depth, and the hand embelishments (like shading on a page) really bring it to life. Overall,

I'll post some writing samples and photos later but, Truffle Finder, should you happen upon Mr. Simpole on your journeys, please send him my most hearty thanks ;)

There are 'Twelve Step Programs' for that, you know!

Another really great day yesterday at Portobello, I seem to be 'on a roll, this last month.

I bought fairly well also, but I am really missing not being at the Little Rock Pen Show, this weekend, there are some 'Warm Fussies' over there I'm sure!!!

Hey Hoo! Back to the Fairies!!!

As promised, photos of the Heritage and of course, Henry's work:

(Forgive the shots - the problem with photographing black is you need to dial in one stop of exposure compensation. Not possible on the iPhone.)

So!± It's 'First of the Month' Hugs all round then!!!

PS. Oxonian, have you tried this yet?

Take the cap off the pen.

Unscrew the section from the front of the pen.

Unscrew the blind cap at the back of the pen, and whilst holding the barrel fairly close to your ear, pull the plunger right out, and just listen to the 'whissssssh' noise as the plunger goes down to the back of the barrel!!!!

Then [still holding the pen near to your ear], push the plunger back, and hear the POP, as the plunger breaks the seal!!!!!

Isn't It wonderful to listen to!!!

A sort os 'audio-scripto', experience! I have frequently demonstrated it to people up at Portobello, [they probably think I'm a bit mad, but politely show their appreciation of what I'm trying to demonstrate!] Either that, or they are just humouring me, and hoping that I won't become violent, if they don't co-operate!!! :eureka:

Not sure if John's tried it (you'll have to ask him), but I'll be sure to do so during the next filling session. As if it couldn't already be more fetishistic!

Hi Ghost Plane,

I'll tell you what! It really is an 'extraordinary' sound, it demonstrates the absolute accuracy of the machining on the inside of the barrel!

I can tell you, it is a sound....... 'to behold'!!!

Trust me, if you'd ever heard that noise, you would be impressed!!!

That sound is what made that pen the number one item on my 'wish list'. The vacuum is incredibly powerful! rolleyes.gif

Having gotten a few pics uploaded from cameras and tablets, I thought I'd share pics of folks who sent special greetings and regrets to The Truffle for his absence in Little Rock last weekend....

Warm Fussies!!! Indeed!

Thank you for posting those photos on here, I just feel very envious, not being at the Little Rock Pen Show, such lovely people!

The trouble with being the camera owner/user, you don't get in any of the shots! That would have been nice!

I trust that you didn't suffer the 'Warm Fussies' while you were there Esterbex!
