Surprisingly, it is the camera in my iPhone.

Since the holiday season usually involves excess, here's more candy. . .

Amble 63, thanks for posting the pictures, I did enjoy your visit to my stand at Portobello Road.

I did manage to do some work on the Dragonfly designs, but I am still not entirely happy with the drawings so far, I'll get there in the fullness of time though! I was wondering if it might be better to reduce the overall size of the beast, and include some butterflies. The main difficulty is the size and shape of a dragonfly, and it cannot cover any more than one third of the surface of the flat overlay, otherwise the distortion ruins the image, when the overlay is curled.

Perhaps reducing the size of the dragonfly and increasing the size and arc of their waterweed/rushes home would permit the greenery to arc around the pen and permit at least 2 vignettes of your bugs?

Well, I'm just back from Portobello, it was a very slow start, but it did brighten up somewhat when an American came to the stand and after careful consideration, left with a handful of really quite unusual pens, [mostly ball-points I might add!] and a couple who were looking for a present for the father of one of them, and decided on one of the last remaining Jasmin Pens in silver.

So, needless to say, I left there a very happy bunny! I wasn't really expecting it to be anything very special, [it being New Year's Eve!] so it was a pleasant surprise, and a great start to the New Year, They are coming back next week to pick up the Jasmin Pen.

Happy New Year to everybody!!!

With so many craftsmen in the running, I have no idea the chances of Henry's winning. But as gamblers say...can't win if you don't play. Craft & Design Magazine is sponsoring the annual Selected Awards 2012 for British and Irish designer/makers.

Here's the link if you've a notion to vote for our esteemed friend. Good luck Henry....again! thumbup.gif

Alright....2012, new year, new projects, new pens.....puddle.gif

What ho of the Corpole/Simpini collaborative? I heard that someone was just waiting to lay hands on some overlays to which pens may be attached.....Hmmmm? Has the gun been fired, or trigger been pulled? Is there a target in sight? Do whips need to be cracked? huh.gif

New Year's resolutions to the effect of less procrastination and more action should reside on everyone's list this year....Time is getting shorter....wink.gif

Henry,

My apologies for taking so long to post our picture!

On our recent visit to the UK right after the Thanksgiving Holiday, my wife and I visited Henry at his Portobello Road location. What a wonderful experience and truly phenomenal conversation with him.

And Henry, I am so much enjoying the Conway Stewart and Parker fountain pens I purchased from you that day. They are fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and letting me try so many different pens. It was fun!

Well, well! One never knows where Himself will turn up!

Whilst checking out the updates on the Arkansas Pen Club website, lo and behold! New (to me) pics of our beloved lurked amongst the "past shows" highlights. These were taken during the 2011 Arkansas Pen & Watch Show held in Little Rock last year. I knew I saw someone snapping pics, just never saw them on FPN.

I thought I'd relive and share the warm fuzzy moments with you....not much, but here ya go....

I could be wrong, but I think that's Brian Anderson (esterbrook.net) snapping shots of some of Henry's Esties.... puddle.gif

No, Chris, you don't really want to know about the things on the shelves behind us [Hugh and I] in the booth at Portobello! Apart from a thick layer of dust, there are lots of 'things' that I have picked up over the years, and have put there, because there was some space available to put them!

The copper 'thing' in case you are interested, is a kettle, I believe the first patented 'Whistling Kettle', and is destined to sit on the fireplace at my fireplace down at my flat, in Cornwall, if it doesn't get sold soon! The pewter teapot on the shelf just below the kettle, is a 'pneumatic' teapot, which 'pours' the tea when the lid is lifted and then depressed, through the spout, which is curved to point downwards over the tea-cup! Apparently Queen Victoria was 'most amused' by this type of tea-pot! As indeed was I, when I bought it!

It's a shame that I have got such an inane grin on my face when the photograph was taken!

The first four photographs of the Little Rock Pen Show, look as though I have broken in to the exhibition room late at night, to do some under-cover piercing work, while Brian Anderson is taking pictures! It was a lovely show. Sadly I will not be attending this year. :(

Having just 'turned the corner' recovering from a chest infection and a rather nasty cold, I am looking forward to getting back in the saddle, and working on my favourite aspect of my work, the 'overlays'! I have lots of ideas for designs, and I can't wait to get started on them.
