Thanks for the selection of images of Ladybugs Esterbex!

They are really quite 'sociable' little bugs aren't they? I see that three of them are being 'very' sociable in one of the pictures!

Off to the drawing board!

Social is right on the button Henry! However, should this design get to any stage past dreams I would prefer 'non-bonking' Ladybirds!

Thank you Wendi!!! I did google and send a couple of pics to Henry via email......... and Bruno is correct..........there are scads of pics when you google!!!

Their job in life is essential.........they eat greenfly and other destructive critters - so to see them in your garden is a real blessing and part of Eco-Gardening! I like all the photos and pictures so far - but can see that it may be not the right subject for silversmithing!!!

I will wait to hear from you, when you have recovered from the holidays and life returns to normal here and there and everywhere! :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

It's funny, talking about these 'bug-hugging' critters, with a view to depicting them on an overlay pen, has awakened a feeling that I have had for a long time about having a dragonfly in the design of one of my pens, the trouble is that 'try as I might' [and I have tried quite a few times!] I have always found that it isn't the right shape to successfully depict it on the 'curled' surface of an overlay, it looks wonderful while it is flat, but when it has been curled, the distortion ruins the effect! Such a shame that so beautiful a creature is so unattainable in my segment of art-style.

But I will keep trying, I think that it might be possible, but the entire outline of the dragonfly would have to fit into only one third of the 'circumference' of the overlay, so that it could be seen in it's entirety without the need to turn the pen to appreciate what it was! It's a funny old world isn't it!!!?

See Y'awll!

Some lovely designs there Wendi! Would a new computer be making life more fun right now???

My choice in the Dragon Fly selection is the 'Lotus Dragonfly' - it looks like just one unbroken line used to draw it.

Ahhhh, dear Chris! Thou knowest me too well! wink.gif

The "Lotus" is one of my faves as well. Henry's technique will ultimately determine how his vision will materialize. I'm just throwing fodder his way and having loads of fun most certainly. tongue.gif

Tattoo art can be quite lovely and esthetically pleasing it seems. Amazing what a few well-placed lines can do.

While I am staying over the Christmas period at my sister's place this year, I will be trying to 'capture' the dragonfly on paper, and while I'm at it I will incorporate a few lady-bugs in the designs! That might just kill two birds with one stone!

I must say, that some of the dragonfly images that Esterbex posted are very good, some are really quite simple, but they depict the beauty of the creature so well.

This Christmas, my cooking skills are being called upon, to be in charge of the Turkey, and having watched the instructions by Raymond Blanc the other night on TV, I'm pleased to say that his method of preparing the bird by removing the legs, and cooking them separately is precisely how I have been doing it for most of my cooking career!

A little early to say it, but 'Merry Christmas' everybody! :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

Room for a little one at that table Henry???? :puddle:

I look forward to the results of your Christmas designing..........very much! :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

Dear Wendi........... I'm glad we sing from the same page......... my years of quilting have given me the wherewithal to spot a good line now and then. I used to design my own quilting - and draw it freehand onto the quilt for the fun part of quilting! Note to self..............must get back to it soon!

Christmas puts me in an introspective mood....I'm reminded once again of how truly blessed I am....One of those unseen blessings was the existence of this thread.

Thank you to all who had a hand in its creation and it's continued life. FPN has been really good to me. Who'd have thought that an interest in a tool could change one's life?

Happy holidays to all, regardless of persuasion. May God bless us, every one! :)

Dragonflies - now that would be something. I love dragonflies. Please do persevere on that design.

I had the pleasure of meeting Henry at the Portobello Market a week ago Saturday and he was kind enough to show me several of his pens. I even got to hold a couple of them - lighter than I expected, given the size. Listening to Henry explain how he creates them, I was truly in awe of his craftsmanship. Lovely to meet you, Henry, and what a thrill to see your pens in person.
