GhostPlane- what is the size of the black Conway -Stewart fountain pen that Henry uses to put his overlay on? I sure hope it isnt a skinny pen.

They're not. Bryant's got some of 'em on his website Pentime.net as he's got Henry busy on some prototypes [gawd, how much do I have to save to buy TWO Simpoles in the same year?!] If you don't recognize any of the props he has them next to, email him. He's really good about putting pens next to other pens that ARE in your stable so you can see size comparison.

Some more of Henry's pens to feast your eyes on.

What a selection..............I think I'm suffering from Simpole overload - and I don't want it to stop!!!

As to size of pen body - let me tell you - they are substantial - longer than a 149 but not quite as stout - but in perfect proportion - and I don't post caps on any pens - and in my view these do not need posting.

Did I tell you that both my Simpole and Tendril are now EDs? I think I did - but they feel just great to use for long sessions - and I feel use is what they deserve!

I'm fully intending mine to be a daily user for the rest of my life! And the way I use my IB nibs, I suspect eyedropper will be the way to go.

Seeing #2 gave me an idea how intricate things may get. Keep those pictures coming... still feeding the muse.

So glad that you like them.

I have to admit that I started this thread as a joke of sorts.

I have had great fun and enjoyment from it and I am so glad that many others have done the same.

Sort of run out of pics at the moment, but will certainly be going to see Hwenry again in the near future, so more will be added - any requests? Will get one of me hugging Henry as a proxy for you all - Mrs George won't mind taking the photograph - I have converted her to FPs. (sneaky move)

George

Woops had to edit this post as I have just returned from a very nice dinner with friends at a local Italian restaurant - plenty of good wine hence the need to edit.

Thanks George! Some joke eh???

I would like to know what the design of overlay is on the two white/cream/ivory pens is - would it be musical?

To be honest, I am spoiled for choice, and if given any one of those pens I would be over the moon!

I recognise the CS Simpole at the beginning - and then look at mine sitting right here next to the Tendril - and am in awe of Henry's work again!

Thoroughly enjoying following this topic and shall be very interested to see what the final design will be. It was also a pleasure seeing some of Henry's work at the London Show. There's no doubting they're substantial pens, too large for me, now if only the base pen were Dandy sized, I'd be there in an instant.

The joke's on you. We'll create something so stunning you'll want to get one. Mwuu ha ha ha ha ha, etc.

OK – that came out a little wrong.

That will teach me to imbibe in a little too much Primitivo at dinner and then make a posting.

What I meant to say was that I started this thread in a jokey, tongue in cheek way expecting FPNers to come back and say, “of course we have heard of Henry Simpole”. I was then going to direct him to it say, “So, you think that you need people to know who you are, do you?”

I did not mean to imply that I was playing a joke on the people who had contributed to this thread and I am sorry if I gave that impression.

I am amazed at how this thread has developed and have to admit that it has gone way beyond any expectations that I may have had. I have enjoyed it immensely and I am so glad that I started it and given others enjoyment too.

You could well be right in that I may end up with one of the pens – as I said before, I have ordered no. 2 of the “Forest Pen” for my daughter.

I don't think that the design of the overlay on the ivory pens is musical at all. I think that it is composed of straight lines a bit like the design in the following picture - this is not the design for those particular pens but gives and idea.

That is about the end of the pictures that my wife took. Those that are left are just duplicates.

Henry got in touch with me yesterday and said that he had lots of photograhs of his pens, that were taken by the photographer that did the photographs for his web site, and asked me if I would like to go over to pick them up so that I could scan them and share some on this thread.

What do you think I should do?

Yes, yes, yes of course I will!

Hi George!

Well, you should go and get the photos, and scan them and put them here for us all to see......unless you are very busy, and in that case you could do it tomorrow..........hehehehe!

Thanks for starting this thread - it is indeed going somewhere - and I'm sure I'm not the only one who checks it first when I log on to the site........am I????

Like a really good serialised story - could we go so far as to say soap opera?

Of course, yes, affirmative, merci, gracias - can't wait for more pictures!

George, written versus speaking, especially sans emoticons, strikes again. Meant nothing by the above other than "no good deed goes unpunished" - here you thought you'd ask if we'd ever heard of Henry and we'll get you so addicted with the designs everyone comes up with that you'll never buy another pen except his!

And Henry obviously IS a prince among men. I'm enjoying back channel emails as he's wonderful to talk to.
