Hi Esterbex!

So you are going to the Raleigh Pen Show!!!

It'll be great to see you there! I will be arriving on Wednesday evening, but I have a couple of appointments which will run into Thursday. I will be coming with a good friend of mine who is an expert on the tracking down and dealing with those 'warm fussies' that have been mentioned here before! Although they are not so prevalent in the Raleigh area, one cannot be too careful. My friend will be coming with his trained 'sniffer dogs' to search out those pesky little suckers, and I'm sure that he would be only too pleased to check your room out for you, please let me know when you arrive!

I will look forward to meeting you again!

It does seem that there will be 'rabbits/bunnies' all over the place - could they be fuzzies?? :bunny01:

:bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

Will there be Honey for Tea.............and time for pens too???

I am indeed attending the Raleigh show, dear Truffle! I look forward to seeing your face as well! Never mind the "sniffer dogs". I have no fear of the "warm fuzzies" and intend to acquire a few in addition to pens while I'm there. I would be more than happy to assist you in capturing some of your own if you've an interest. ;)

BTW....? days remaining until I arrive in NC! Now let's see...how many bunniies have I need of now....15 since countdown...leaves 2 to go! Looks like a Rockettes line! Go bunnies! Go bunnies!

If anybody reading this is going to the Raleigh Pen Show, and are in need of those 'bits' that you may have been looking for for a long time, [i'm thinking of English pen parts that I might have which would help,] then let me know, on this thread.

Bill is quite a character! Nice pictures!

It was a lovely show, Terry Mawhorter, and his two sons are the perfect hosts for a pen show, they go out of their way to help out with any problems you have. They were very helpful to me, the lamp that I had got was not really compatible with the edge of the table that I had, and the clamp broke, making it practically useless, but they came up with a replacement lamp very quickly, and saved the day.

There was quite a lot of interest in the demonstrations I was doing, and people stopped and asked [generally] intelligent questions about how I make my overlaid pens, which was really nice. The TV cameras were on me for a while, which I am becoming quite used to nowadays!!!

Anymore images Esterbex?

PS. No trouble from the 'Warm Fussies', I'm pleased to say!

Hi Wendi !!!! :notworthy1: :notworthy1: :notworthy1:

I certainly have enjoyed your posts very much, and the newsreel of the show from the TV was amazing.........I had never seen Henry in 3-D or even moving before, just photos and his voice on the phone occasionally!

The pens are amazing...........the people are what makes our world go around and around - :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

For once I am stuck for words.............make the most of it - hehehe!

A couple of days ago, I gave a talk to a gentleman's club [named the 41 Club], usually, the basic subject is the 'Potted History of the Fountain Pen.'

For a change, I decided to start the talk with my personal story of how I first got interested in Vintage Fountain Pens, then how I first started to repair them, then selling the 'doubles' that I had acquired, [at Totnes Flea Market!] and the progression to part-time dealer at Antiques Fairs on Sundays, then progressing to American Pen Shows.

By the time I got to telling them about the overlay pens that I make, they were genuinely surprised, when I opened the display case [containing about 10 of my pens] and passed them around, the questions started coming thick and fast. I can only assume that they were so surprised because they hadn't expected the story to go in that direction! I don't think that any of them there knew that I did make pens! One of the gentlemen asked me how long each pen took to make, he was quite taken aback when I told him about the Spirit of Life Pen which took nearly a year to produce!

Before I left, most of them came over to talk to me personally, many business cards were handed out, but they seemed to be so pleased to have heard the personal story [which I suppose is pretty unusual, in the way it has all 'evolved' from just a hobby, into a complete change of life-style] I am thinking that it might be worth using the same format the next time I give a talk to another group of people.

It was a very heartening experience for me. Even more so because they quite obviously seemed to have enjoyed the talk, unless maybe they were used to some very boring speakers!!!
