Just thought I would give you an update. Henry will be sending the flat overlays to Neal for Photography. I gather that it is extremely difficult to accurately draw [and ultimately transfer the pattern from the paper to the silver sheet] the strips which will become a spiral when the whole thing is curled on a steel mandril. Henry has said that it will be "exciting" [after the 'script' engraving has been done] to discover whether the accuracy was good enough to meet-up, to produce a perfect spiral. If it doesn't, the only alternative will be to make another drawing, [literally back to the drawing board!]

Let's hope that it does work first time round. His determination to succeed in these projects, seems to override his disappointment at such set-backs, spurring him on to produce his objective. [With Ghost Plane's approval,of course!!!]

Verse is in progress for delivery to Henry when our long-suffering calligrapher is done. I'm afraid I've tried his patience sorely.

I'm awed that the dream is finally becoming reality. :cloud9:

I shouldn't worry about 'trying Henry's patience sorely', I was at Henry's stand at Portobello Road today, and he was showing the two overlays to various people who were asking about how they were made, and he was explaining how the spiral shape will be formed when the O/lay is curled. Henry was very much in his element and proud to show people how they were made.

I have a confirmed siting from our long-suffering calligrapher. He's confirming dimensions and possibilities with Henry.

Yes, we have an instrument of mass communication here. Acts of creation will break out everywhere and soon there will be random breakouts of inspiration and growing civilized behavior in unexpected places. :roflmho:

From sources close to the creation of the 'Spirit Of Life' pen, I can reveal that despite a slight hiccup in the design, the people concerned are working out the setbacks, and the 'fine-tuning' of the overlay is back on track.

I will keep you posted as and when I hear anything more.

A week or so ago, I told you that George was coming over to explain to me how to 'scan and send', well he did come over on Sunday, and during the instruction process he logged in to FPN using his name, but we forgot to log out, so my last 'posting' on this thread was signed under his name. He is planning to come over to see me again next week, so hopefully we will have corrected the error. I have tried to do this alteration myself, but I have no idea whether it has worked or not. I will know as soon as I have 'sent' this message! Truffle Finder [AKA GWP!]

Hi Guys

Back again briefly - work is a real pressure at the moment.

As Truffle Finder said, I went to see him on Sunday, but what he didn't say was that we both went over to see Henry.

I told Henry that I had been showing TF how to use his scanner and he asked me to do the same for him so that he could scan and attach to emails. Henry told me that he only uses his scanner to enlarge the crossword as he doesn't know how to use it - what a guy!

Anyway, I showed him how to use the scanner as well so hopefully he is up to speed on it now.

Ghost Plane - I saw the overlays for your pen - wow! they are fantastic - the work is so fine - when they are finished, and on the pen, they will be mind blowing. By the way - have you tried Picasa for photo hosting - it is quite good.

While I was with Henry, I finally aquired an HS pen - YAHOO.

An HS Jasmine with 2B stub nib - abolutely gorgeous. This was a limited edition of 50, and Henry only has a few of these left so if anyone out there is thinking of getting one you had better be quick.

As TF said, I am going over to see him next week to give him some instruction on uploading photographs to the FPN, I have also arranged to meet up with Henry soon, once work permits, for lunch.

I am keeping in touch through this thread, but please forgive me for not posting too often, as once I get on the FPN time just runs away with itself and I can't afford that at the moment.

I'll have to sit and look at it awhile before I'll ever be able to decide on an ink color.

I know what you mean - but it was begging me to write with it - the little devil. Can change ink colours later - like to swap around from time to time.

Just you wait and see - you will know what I mean when the time comes.

OK - here you are Carrie - said I would put some pictures of my Jasmine pen up.

Here they are.

Hope you enjoy them - as I have said before the pictures do not do the pens justice - the real thing is so much better.

Pictures are by Mrs GeorgeWP - done a little bit in haste as I nagged her to get them done tonight so that I could get them up on the thread.
