Has Anyone Heard Of Henry Simpole?

Oh! [For a moment there I thought I had 'mouched' in to someone else's conversation!] the last remaining Conklin has a med: Conklin nib [flexible], I've tried it, it is lovely, but I don't think it would be suitable for you, you like xxbroad don't you?But that shouldn't be too big a problem, someone like Mottashaw would probably have a broad Conklin nib, or could 're-tip' to a Br-Italic or whatever you want.

Interesting to hear about the Conklins, they really do seem well suited to the overlays in a quirky sort of way. I think they appeal to me because I like pens that have a traditional filling mechanism, of my modern pens I love the ones that have levers. Only one Conklin left? Stop it, I can't think about two of these pens :roflmho: As it is my poor car is giving every indication that its gearbox is not much longer for this world, I need to think about more practical expenses :crybaby:

Carrie you need this Conklin. As I once postponed getting new tires to buy a Visconti, I completely sympathize.

Stop it, now! I've got enough saving to do for this Anglo-saxon pen. Will just have to be content with looking at some very pretty pictures :)

Any news on the design for your pen?

Still tinkering with the calligraphy. The verse divides into 3 parts after the opening salutation, so it's finding a pattern that looks pretty when it wraps around a pen barrel, as opposed to on paper only.

I'm also playing with an alternate design I found that might make a 2nd pen down the road.

All Henry needs now is for someone to find a hoard of great Conklin Crescent fillers, and for Ghost Plane and Carrie to come up with definite designs..........he'll need one hundred arms all working at once!!! :clap1:

Plotting mine to wrap a Churchill :cloud9:

Of course - I should have been more specific! Conklins for the Conklin lovers, and Churchills for the lovers of big pens! :headsmack:

I saw Henry yesterday afternoon, and guess what? He has decided to use and carry around the Conklin overlaid pen, for the time being anyway. This thread seems to have sparked his interest in it!

Just thought I would tell you. Still no sign of George? Anyone any ideas? I reckon he's 'Jet-Setting' around in foreign parts! But what do I know?

P.S. Looks like it's the worms at the bottom of the garden again!

The making of a masterpiece... here's how one of Henry's bespoke commission's comes to life.

Henry's magnificent Ants Pen, from a rough hand sketch, then roughly to scale, a detailed sketched plan on tracing paper before coming to life on sheet silver.

and here's the finished result..

What a design!

I don't see any photos, either. Why can Carrie see them? Does she have special moderator superpowers?

Here we go, 2nd posting... let's hope the FPN gremlins leave the images alone this time.

Funny, I could see the photos until mid-afternoon and then they vanished on me too. Thanks for re-posting, Neal. Interesting to see the design sheets alongside the flat silver and finished pen.
