Maybe some nice shrubberies? With a path?

I'm not going to lie, one of the funniest moments of my Ren Faire career was sitting in my booth on a rather dull, slow day, chatting with my boss about nothing, when a gentleman and his son (dressed as King Arthur and Patsy respectively, with dead-on detail) came galloping down the street, complete with coconuts.

You realize this thread is completely incomprehensible for those who never experienced Python in all their glory? Sigh...

I am envisioning a really swirly, nearly abstract Art Nouveau design, with the Grand Inquisitor hidden within. That way, if anyone asks, "What's that a picture supposed to be of?" I can say, "The Spanish Inquisition!" BECAAAAAUUUUSE...

**Curtsy** Ladies and gentlemen, it is my very great honor and delight to join the congregation of St. Loony Up-The-Cream-Bun-and-Jam. Incidentally, a high school friend's dad was actually at Cambridge with Messrs. Cleese, Idle, and Chapman. He spoke of it (when he did speak of it, which was rare) as being complete and utter madness.

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! Duh! :lticaptd:

Precisely! It will be an excellent "test" for meeting new people...

Ooh, I found a couple of prints on Spoonflower that will absolutely be making their way into some pen rolls.

"And now for something completely different!!!"

All this talk about Elderberries, Paths and Shrubberies, and if that wasn't enough COCONUTS!!! What is this thread coming to?

See those 'comfy chairs over there?

Well, I don't have to say any more! Do I?

.................................................................

I had a rather tragic situation to cope with over this weekend. I bought a 1930's Watermans Patrician in Onyx Pattern, it's colour was very good for that model of pen, so I was very pleased to have been able to buy it.

Anyway to cut a long story short, when I was 'sorting it out', the section broke when I knocked the nib and feed out! I was quite dumbfounded when it happened, and I just left the 'bits' on the workbench because I didn't want to look at them.

When I came downstairs on Sunday morning, I went back to the scene of the crime, and discovered that the nib had been damaged as well!

Needless to say, I was in a very sad mood yesterday.

Guess we should change the words of that iconic anthem to "Every nib is sacred..."

Here's my Spirit. On the iPad so it's a little awkward to cut & paste but this: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/153415-spirit-of-life-design-by-henry-simpole/page-23

Should get you to the pages long thread that ran for the year it took for the dream to become reality.

I've just been looking through a few of the pages on this thread, and it really does sound quite 'magical' how it started, and how everything was developed in to the end result, it is quite fascinating. And the number of coincidences in that process is remarkable too!

It was definitely the correct name, to call it the Spirit of Life Pen.

And here I was about to make a crack about the pen not being busted, just pining for the fjords... Truffle, is it well and truly finished, like the section is in crumbles, or can it be puzzled back together? Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Shimmershadow!

'Crack' would have been the optimum word that you could have used to describe the situation!

I will have two options with regards to getting the nib fixed, but the section of the pen is "deceased, died, gone to meet it's maker! It's not pinin' for the fiords!!!"

So now I'm making inquiries as to whether I can get the right colour Red Hard Rubber, and get someone to make a replica of it! it might sound difficult, but there must be a way to get round the problem.

It certainly seems it was meant to be, given the improbability of the occurrences and how many people decided they wanted one.
