I must say her cap overlay is stunning as well!

Thanks for the photography Neal!

As usual, an excellent job!

I have sent another overlay to you, which hopefully should arrive by post today, I did it over the weekend. It was a case of pure 'inspiration' really, I was given a business card by someone up at Portobello, and in one corner of the card was a delicate triangular shaped decoration, as soon as I saw it, I just 'knew' that I had to copy the pattern, but how could I use a triangular shape in a rectangular sheet of silver? The obvious thing was to draw the triangle in the top left hand corner, and then invert it and draw it again in the bottom right hand corner of the silver oblong shape, and leave the space between the two long sides of each of the two triangles blank [as a cartouche perhaps?]

Anyway, I would be pleased to hear what people think about it.

Thanks once again Neal, that looks great, as usual!

I think that the diagonal stripe needs to have some decoration, [either engraved, or pierced] done at each end to shorten the blank space, leaving a smaller area in the middle to use as a cartouche.

Anyway.................... comments please!

Viola? I like that, Neal! Delicate and lovely!

I agree...something to shorten the span is a good idea, Truffle....engraving perhaps so as not to distract from the current filigree?

This is quite different from anything else you've done save the Spirit. Bravo! http://emynow.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/clapping-happy-smiley-emoticon.gif?w=545

Arkansas is excited! As seen on Facebook via the Arkansas Pen Club:

2014 Arkansas Pen Show February 28 & March 1

For pen lovers, there aren’t many happier places than a pen show. Being surround by thousands of vintage and new fountain pens is an adrenaline rush that only pen lovers know. You either “get it” or you don’t. Every table you visit will have pens that will make you think, “I have got to have that!” Finding a potential “keeper,” you dip it and put it to paper. Maybe it is THE pen that so perfectly fits your hands and is so perfectly matched to the way you write you feel a tingle that moves from your hand to your shoulder. Pen shows are excellent (if not the only) place to find the missing link that will complete a collection. However, you need not be an experienced collector! Pens of all prices are available and all of us are happy to answer questions. Our show is a small laid back affair, which gives you an opportunity to talk with our vendors and other collectors. Want to know about Parker pens? Sit and talk with Joel Hamilton for a while. Sheaffers? Sheryl Tyree is a living encyclopedia of Sheaffer. Maybe you are looking for a beautiful, one of a kind pen. The amazing Henry Simpole will be here from London, England with the most unbelievable overlays. You can watch him work, drool over his creations and talk to one of the nicest pen collectors/artists you’ll ever meet. This may be your only chance to see Henry in America this year! Here is an example of his work:

Wish I had some spare cash. I'd be indulging in a companion for the Spirit.

Yes, Esterbex, I 'can' feel the 'leurve'!!!

Neal very kindly returned the latest overlay back to me last week, and I have already 'pierced out' some decorations at each end of the diagonal stripe, creating a more practical sized 'cartouche', for someone's name or initials. I'm really quite pleased with it!

Last week, I received another parcel, this time from Conway Stewart, containing five C/S 100's [in black] with a filigree cap-band on each one. These were ordered by a gentleman who I first met at the London Pen Show back in October, who had ordered 20 of them as a variation to a series of 100's that he had commissioned Conway Stewart to produce. [He granted permission for me to have 5 of the finished pens BTW!!!]

I took one of them up to Portobello with me yesterday, and an Israeli gentleman [who had bought one of my overlaid pens before] saw it, and promptly bought it! It was quite a surprise to me, but it was a very pleasant culmination to an already successful day! I resisted the temptation however, of booking a chauffeur driven limousine, to return home, but I still felt elated, in the 'tube' journey home! :P

Well, I suppose I ought to be getting all my tools, and equipment ready and packed, before I depart on Wednesday morning, for the journey to Little Rock. I hope that there will not be any of the hassles of previous visits, with the dreaded 'Warm Fussies', in any of the hotel rooms!!! :yikes: Pesky little suckers!

I've been told that the weather over there is 'cool' to say the least, so it looks as though I will be sporting my Harris Tweed sports jacket for my visit, should keep me nice and warm!

Hi, I'm back!

I'm jet-lagged!!!

It was a wonderful Pen Show, in Little Rock!

I bought well, [super vintage pens, most of which will probably find their way into my 'pension-scheme' folder!] But some will be in my selling stock next Saturday.

I sold quite a few of my overlaid pens, which was very satisfying!

And now my bed is looking very appealing right now!

Pictures or it never happened

GP you are so right. Unfortunately all that I took are sequestered on the chip in Henry's camera which I forgot to confiscate before his departure. :(

So we will have to wait upon the kindness of friends to release them and send them for posting here. Fortunately I wasn't the only one snapping so here are what I've found so far. The Truffle's work was well-received, I'll say.
