I can just see readers on this thread [of a certain age!] mouthing the words while reading this!

Somewhere I got the impression the glass was already green....but I'm inclined to agree with GP, glass bottles are one thing, pens another....the translucence is key to it's allure and cobalt and dark green certainly set off silver as well as any black. :)

Paint It Black so you can sing along in-key.... ;)

Hmmm....the "upgrade" seems to have taken a couple of steps backward....can't get the videos to embed in the message.... @wim ?

I went to look at the Stones playing Paint it Black, then I got 'waylaid' and went on to watch Eric Clapton, then part of the Cream Concert at the Albert Hall 2005, [which I was lucky enough to get a ticket to see!]

There's another half an hour gone from my life!

I remember dancing to this in the Bahamas when I was little. Some flower child types in love beads came up to my folks & challenged them to "be cool" - so they were & did! There was my mil spec dad with the sidewalls haircut & Mom in her linen sheath dress & beaded sandals boogieing on down & me following along in my Mary Janes with the ruffled white socks just like the grown ups. I would've been around 5. Still remembered the awed, "Far out, man" and "Groovy!" that accompanied this display by the "old folks." They would've been in their middle 40s. Mom went on to show teens half her age she could limbo with the Rastas (& lower!) and I went to sleep in the back of somebody's Beetle at a bonfire on the beach after a fab meal of fried conch fritters.

Now that's a righteously warm fuzzy GP! I can just see it!

One of the customers who came to see me on Saturday, explained that he had bought a Mont Blanc 149, from me at the London Pen Show, with a very broad Oblique nib, and had discovered that it was in fact too broad for everyday writing, and he wondered whether it would be possible to exchange it for a slightly less broad nibbed pen.

He stayed with me for about an hour, during which time we 'talked pens' of course, and I ended up showing him my prized possession at the moment, [the little Doll's House Pen], he was amazed to see it, and decided to take a few photographs of it. He told me that he did frequent FPN from time to time, and I'm hoping that he might see this thread, and perhaps post a picture or two on this thread!

You never know, he might see this, and put them here!

Well Henry,

I did see this post! It was lovely to see you again on Saturday in London. Thank you once again for swapping the 149. I've been 'road-testing' the new one today! I really enjoyed seeing some of your pens; especially the Duofold Snr set in jade and the RHR Duofold Snr 'short'. I have never seen one of these before and have never come across them before in my research on Duofolds. As you say, I don't believe there's much, if anything about them in David Shepherd's excellent book.

Of course, it was a real surprise to see your boxed Waterman's ‘Queen Mary’s doll house’ pen. The workmanship is absolutely exquisite. How they managed to get a working safety pen that small I shall never know. As you said, I just had to get a photo of it. As you remember you pulled out a lovely Waterman's Lady Patricia in my favourite colour; turquoise. (Which of course we're communicating about elsewhere!) And then, blow me down, you pull out the real deal; a Patrician in turquoise from your own collection. A real beauty. How I'd love one like this. So we put them all together for a size comparison and took a photo.

Anyway, I have the image as requested. However, this is my first post and it's a bit of a learning curve for me. I've tried putting the pic on both Flickr and Picasa, clicked on 'image', and entered the URL. However, FPN won't allow the photo to be posted from either source! P
erhaps some other members can give me some advice on the best way to post images here on FPN. Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome, Drew! You'll need a few more posts before the board rules turn you loose. It's a safety measure to keep out spammers. In the mean time, have a look at the board rules (bottom left corner on my browser) & enjoy.

Drooling over all mentioned! :puddle: Welcome person of good taste! :)

In the mean time, you can either email the pic to Henry who can then forward it to one of us to post in your stead, or link us to your flickr page and we can peek at it there. B)

Hi Ghost Plane & esterbex,

Thanks for your kind welcome to FPN. I've been a member for some time now, but I haven't posted until now. Too busy soaking up information like a sponge.

Here are the URL's for the image on:

Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/113782368@N06/11824999293/

Picasa: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-d4bV2-p70j0/Usxv_gHz6KI/AAAAAAAAABI/TeHHuI-BCOQ/w637-h461-no/Waterman%2527s+%25E2%2580%2598Queen+Mary%25E2%2580%2599s+doll+house%25E2%2580%2599+pen.JPG

I hope you're not too disappointed. It's not a very good photo; taken with a compact, so it's direct flash. However, it will give you an idea of the size of this amazing pen. I'm just staggered that the folks at Waterman's were able to produce a fully functioning Safety Pen this small. It's a perfect miniature of a 42; or a 12S in pre-1917 'old money'. I have a sweet little 12½VS with gold-filled overlay and I thought that was small. However, this takes things to another level.

I'll also email the photo to Truffle Finder. If the links don't work, he can email it to one of you to post for me.

I had a good browse through the FPN Guidelines as you suggested. Ghost Plane, can you give me some clues as to when I may be able to post photos? I'm going to start posting more from now on I expect, which already included the possibility of posting pics. as you can see. I may even try a little blogging too. I read somebody's blog lately, which they said they said up in a diversionary effort to prevent them from spending the monthly mortgage money on pens ebay!!! I can relate to that. :yikes:

Before the recent shift in servers & software, it was running 30 posts over 30 days. I think our admin is tweaking that, so have a glance in members helping members as I think he recently answered a post with more detailed answers & advice. On a tablet at the moment, so I can't do a multi window hunt to find the link for you.

Oh My Word!!! What a great trio of Waterman pens!!

I would walk from Land's End to London for the Patrician - and to Exeter for the Lady P.!!!

Henry - you have amazing pens....really lovely pens......and then you make them too!

I'm taking time out from 'dusting' all my teddy bears with Ray's air compressor, placing each in a pillow case before packing them all into four big plastic chests and two huge suitcases! Oh, my aching back!

Glad to see everyone here - and a new fan too - welcome DrewKnight! You live in a beautiful part of the UK!!

Hugs,

Chris - on the road soon!!!!!!

Each day is the start of the rest of your life!

Make it count!!!

It looks as though I will be attending the Little Rock Pen Show at the end of February.

I was very flattered to hear that my name was brought up by some members of the Pen Collecting community at their recent meeting, and asking if I would be coming this year. It was a great show last year, with the additional event at the Vanness shop in Little Rock, the day before the show had started, was a great success.

Very friendly people, and a great place to visit.
