She and Henry should produce some amazing pen work!!!

That sort of thing is big amongst gun collectors over here.

Hmmm...somewhere in the back of my mind is the recollection that Conway Stewart contracted with a a metal artist whose primary occupation up to that point had been the same...gun-engraving....yes....Argent Blue did a MetalWrite pen or two with them and has since taken off on their own in the pen-making biz. I can't wait to see what her artistry looks like!

CS did three limited edition pens (Windsor, Balmoral and Sandringham) with three different UK gun engravers. Gorgeous pens, but sadly well beyond my budget.

She certainly does beautiful engraving!

"Exemplary" I'd say!

I wish Katia would come on here, and introduce herself, but maybe she is just shy!

My latest news, is that I bought a pen that I have wanted practically ever since I've been collecting Vintage Fountain Pens. It is a boxed Watermans Doll's House Pen!!!! And if a cherry was needed to top it, it is the Safety Pen Model!!!!!! :) :D  :excl:

How about that bunch of bananas?

When I can bear to part with it, I will be sending it to Neal for him to photograph the little darling! Then you will be able to see it on here.

I am such a happy bunny, you've no idea!!!

"Warm fussies" doesn't even come close to how I'm feeling about it.

Hello, hello!!!

I am Katia, the hand engraver.

Yes, Henry has let me know about this thread when I called him, but I started reading it from the start. I am not sure I will finish it before the end of next year though. Surely it should be included in the Guiness Book for the longest thread on the internet! Such an informative one as well, no wonder it is so popular.

What can I say? Well, I am extremely excited by what is happening. I just cannot wait to meet Henry. What an incredibly generous man, so willing to share his knowledge.

A lady says she wants me take my first overlay pen for her! I never expected things to happen so quickly at all.

Also, thanks very much for the kind words about my work. It is lovely to see it is appreciated. As gun engravers, we usually give the guns back to the gunmakers and never hear any reactions from the customers we engraved it for, so it makes a lovely change.

Well, I need to go and finish some engraving now, but I will make sure to post the evolution of my first pen.

Bye!

:notworthy1: Welcome Katia Filipovic! I am in awe and look forward to seeing this adventure to its completion.

Maybe I will join the gun-toters and purchase a piece for you to engrave as well. B)

Welcome Katia!

I loved your website and the story and photos........and like many others can't wait to see what you and Henry produce!

I'm not into guns (any more) but have a golfer for a husband! Maybe Wendi could learn golf if she doesn't get herself a gun....... :lticaptd:

Hmmm, Mrs Chalmers....You might have something there. :eureka: My neighbour just happens to be a golf pro who makes custom clubs for his clients....I suppose I could club an assailant with a putter as easily as put one through him....but I'd ruin the club. Something to ruminate on, hmm? ;)

A hole in one of a different sort?

:lticaptd: Awww GP! Self-defense by one means or another...."Stand your ground" as they say in the Sunshine State....and with a beautiful weapon in either case. Though I think I might have a pen or two that could serve the purpose in close quarters..... ;)

Katia, I can certainly appreciate how gratifying it must seem to you, to be appreciated by the potential clients directly, as opposed to just handing over a piece that you have worked on to the gunmakers, and then 'nothing'!

'Pen-people' are generally much more open to let others know how they feel about things, [in this case directly] and hopefully you might change your work over to pens more than the 'gun-related work', I'm quite sure that people will recognise that you are obviously a master of your craft, and hopefully will respond accordingly.

Do keep in touch, and let us know how you are getting on with your first pen overlay, I for one can't wait!

I don't know about changing over to pens more, even though they're supposed to be mightier than other weapons of choice.....there are a whole lot more guns to engrave than pens. But this may open up directions previously unthought of.

As for expression of feelings....the choice of weapons speaks for itself. :P
