Chris, thanks for posting the photos of the stunning Chatsworth. Wow seems to sum it up quite accurately. What a beautiful pen.

Just one question though, where's our topic starter vanished to?

I absolutely in love with the one that has ants in its overlay. There was a picture of it earlier in the thread. What would be a price for that pen?

I have no idea what the price for The Ants pen would be - but Henry does have price guides for commissioned pens

on his site - www.henrysimpole.com ............

Glad to hear it's nothing more mundane than work, I was worried he might be ill or something.

One of my favourite Chatsworth designs is the one on the pearl white resin. For me, I suppose it is the purity of the white resin and the purity of the silver that attracts me to that particular design :) Bryant only ordered 10 of each finish (Classic Green, Graphite and Pearl White), and I believe he has a handful left before every pen is sold.

It would be great if Henry can participate in the Washington DC Show 2010. So many people congratulated him on his overlay work and were extremely happy to see Henry work on the overlays during the show in 2008. Just in case you didn't attend, here are some pictures of Henry in action.

I went to the 2009 D.C. show and had a blast. I was not planning on attending in 2010 (it is a long drive!), but I may make plans to do so if it turns out that Henry will be participating. It would be very much worth the drive just to meet him and watch him work!

It is definitely worth the drive/flight to meet Henry. He is full of passion for fountain pens and the designs he creates.

In addition to bringing over many overlays (some of which were prototypes and one-offs) Henry also brought along with him quite a large selection of vintage pens.

If Henry can make it to DC in 2010, I am sure there will be plenty of announcements ahead of time so plans and preparations can be made in advance.

The beauty of Henry is that he likes to talk to people who are interested in vintage pens and of course, how he creates his overlays :)

Kind regards,

Mary

I've just come back from Henry's place, and although he was very pleased to hear that people are looking forward to him going to the Washington Pen Show he is not sure whether he will be going. Anyway I am sorry to be the bringer of disappointing news, but he is just 'not sure' yet!

Henry.

Progress at last! Got what I wanted from the Persian Diversion [he's over the flu and looks wonderful, but then I'm biased  ]. Will scan in and send to both Henry and our calligrapher. What will then happen, God willing, is that the language will change from a linear form like English, to a beautiful non-linear picture composed of the letters.

Please be patient with us. It took the P.D. sitting with a pen and paper and doodling to show me how Arabic and Farsi letters can bend and flex and the vowels float around. They can form the most incredible pictures!

I have a dream, but getting it out of my head into a picture form for Henry to work his magic... :gaah: :bonk:

Speaking of happy, I've sent the verse on to the calligrapher, so we're making progress on the dream pen.

Anyone have the dates? For Henry I might try making the trek, budget and real life allowing. :notworthy1:

Tentatively August 12-15. (I think.)

I will definitely attend if Henry will be there. It would be worth the trip just to meet him and see how his overlays are created. Otherwise I will be saving my money for a real holiday. Or maybe another one of Henry's beautiful pens.

Thanks. That's a month after my main writer's convention. Might have to see which of my Maryland friends I could stay with. :hmm1: Or I could put the money toward another pen...
