Has Anyone Heard Of Henry Simpole?

Wishing you a speedy recovery from that one. For me, walking was the only form of excercise possible for several weeks - and do remember no lifting anything heavier than a mug of tea, and definitely no lifting while bending or twisting for some time to come.

Do take the painkillers as prescribed - they are most effective when taken that way, and not as a matter of desperation.

Thank you 'View from the loft' for your kind words of wisdom.

I feel quite nurtured by people on here!

I'm not planning to do anything too strenuous just at the moment, so I will be taking the meds: as per the instructions, and thankfully, I am feeling quite sleepy most of the time, so it doesn't take any persuasion to drop off to sleep when I go to bed at night.

Hopefully, I will be well enough to do Portobello next Saturday, but we'll see!

Hi Henry

I have had similar surgery in the past and much as you are planning I returned to work far to early and caused myself no end of problems.

Standing and chatting to customers may feel very easy but you could really do yourself further injury.

I also wish you a speedy recovery

Take care

Michael

Thank you Michael for those words of wisdom. Some of us would do well to heed them....not naming any names....but

a certain silversmith comes to mind....  :excl:

Ok, OK, OK, OK!

I get the message! Everyone is sending messages to me telling me not to rush the healing process. No straining etc:

I must say, it is very comforting to know that everyone is so concerned about my welfare.

I slept very well last night, and as Huckleberry Hound used to say, when asked:- "Does it hurt?"

"Only when I laugh!"

So, I'm trying hard not to listen to funny jokes! I'm also taking plenty of Vitamin C tablets to aid healing! And the Paracetamol are still being taken on a regular basis.

So, it will probably be just some light pen repair jobs today!

I'll let you know of my progress.

Good, glad you are listening. You will not be fit for Portobello this weekend, and unlikely for next weekend. I returned to light (desk piloting duties) after two weeks (admittedly they took my gall bladder out at the same time but trust me, the hernia repair was the bigger issue) and realised that traveling to and from central London and short four hour shifts was too much to do more than three times that first week.

If you do too much you will set yourself back. I was forbidden to walk more than 5 minutes for the first 3 days, no more than 15 minutes for the remainder of the week and build up gradually to 30 minutes over the next week.

No driving for 2 weeks, no bike riding or running for 4 weeks.

Mind you, it was nice to have an excuse to get the children to help out more around the house without having to nag.

Once the doctor clears putting anything on the incision, coconut oil does wonders to keep scars supple & flat. Quite nice to cook with as well, so "waste not want not."

Something purty I spotted at the Ohio Pen Show on Saturday....I'd heard it was there and finally found it....The Conway Stewart Henry Simpole "prototype" in purple and pink irridescent acrylic.

It looks better in person...couldn't get the light or the flash to cooperate. $900 USD and it's yours....The Argent Blue vendor got it from CS at the DC show back in the Summer...

No, I had better not comment too much about that pen, I do think that black is best, but only because I feel that it tends to draw the eye away from the overlay! Some might say that that is a bit conceited of me to say it, but I do think that I'm right!

My personal trainer is coming over today, to guide me through my new exercise regime, you know 'sit-ups', and 'pumping iron' that sort of thing! So I had better get ready!!!

Just kidding!

I decided to cancel the personal trainer, and walked down the High Street, all the way to the bank, then to the Post Office, then bought some strawberries for tonight's supper, and then back home. Not forgetting to call in on the two Charity Shops on the way back home, no Fountain Pens sadly, but then there never are!

I didn't know that you suffered from heresy Ghost Plane!

But I don't quite see the connection with that and the 'Red Pens!'

Or is that some form of phsyco-symatic reaction to the heresy?

Is there actually a cure for it, or is it something that you just have to live with, [as best you can!]? Or do you compensate for it by buying any Red Hard Rubber pens that you can lay your hands on?

I'm sure that others on here would like to know all about it from you!

Go on Ghost Plane, share with the group.................... please? Pretty please!!!?

Truffle Finder. ;) :lticaptd: :) :D :excl:

PS. Now did I take my last lot of meds: or not? I can't remember!!!

Red one? There's a red one?

Yes, there was red, orange/brown and blue hard rubber in the Corsini/Simpole but that red Jasmine is Neal's one-off...lucky duck!
