I bought a Turquoise Watermans Patrician [1930's era] whilst I was at the London Pen Show, this year. It had one of the very frequent problems with that model of Waterman pen, the lever box was missing, presumably it had been broken and then discarded. Strangely enough, the clip is still very well 'in place' and not at all 'wobbly'!

As most vintage fountain pen collectors are probably aware, all but the 'Moss Agate' plastics are likely to become discoloured, including the Turquoise, but probably less so than the other colours.

I'm very pleased with my efforts today, because, I have replaced the lever box, and have restored the beautiful lustre of the plastic of both the cap, and the barrel, and all the hard rubber fittings are now back to the original 'black' colour.

I feel so happy, I could crush a grape!!! :) :D  :excl:

Good night!

PS. We appear to have gone through the 88,000 mark, and we didn't even loose a wing mirror!

Jim Marshall, Sarj and Jas Minhas, David Nishimura... and Henry Simpole... the only faces I recognized.

I was at the London show 10 years ago, but not been back since. How I miss it!

Hmmmm.....sounds like we may need to make a group trip....You, me, GP should have pubbed a book or two, Chris may be already in place....by next year's show time....http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/hand-gestures/deep-thinking-smiley-emoticon.gif

Ghost Plane, for your information, the SOL Pen is a smidge under 19 cms long, the Dragon pen is a smidge under 18 cms!

Just thought I'd let you know!

Sigh... Still trolling for contracts. Given it can take up to two years from signing to the first royalty check (assuming traditional publisher) it'll be awhile before I can add a baby gator to the collection. Sniff!

Well then you'll have to commission a special bespoke just for the book-signings! :bunny01:

Hi!

Yesterday at Portobello was understandably quiet so near to last week's London Pen Show, but it was nice to see a couple who visited my stand and they spent quite a long time looking at, and discussing vintage fountain pen collecting.

Thankfully the rain ceased before I got up to go, and stayed away for the rest of the day, so I really appreciated that mercy!

Hey Ho, I'm now working on another Dunhill Namiki Pen, which has a rather serious crack in the mouth of the cap, the crack, BTW goes nearly right round the cap mouth!!! Quite a job! :) :excl:

Probably the view of the river from that log cabin somewhere in God's country!

I have completed the repair of the Dunhill Namiki Pen!

It was quite a job, there will not be time enough to send the pen off to Neal to photograph the result, so I'm afraid you will have to use your imagination!

I'm quite elated about it, and I sincerely hope that the owner of the pen will be, too! When he comes to pick it up at Portobello on Saturday, perhaps I will ask him if he is familiar with the FPN, and maybe he might be persuaded to post pictures of the pen on here!

Well done Henry! three fixed Dunhill Namiki pens in a matter of months - how many of them are still out there in the wild?

Hugs!

Tomorrow, at Portobello, I will be seeing two people who will be picking up their pens which I have worked on, one is the person who is the proud owner of the Dunhill Namiki, the other person is going to collect a Mont Blanc with a full gold overlay, which was not so successful.

I am hoping that the Dunhill owner might be persuaded to post a few pictures of the pen, on this thread! :) :excl:

We'll see!

Well, quite a constructive Sunday, I managed to get all the vintage pens done that I bought on Saturday, repaired and looking good! I find that I tend to want to do 'my' pens before I get enthusiastic about the customer's pens, so that is what I will be getting on with today.

Happy Monday!
