Has Anyone Heard Of Henry Simpole?

If only his pens were south of $500, I'd snap one up immediately!

Fountain pens are like weapons. They just make your pocket bleed so much.

I'm sure you would! And I'm sure that you wouldn't be the only one!

It's a shame that nobody has recorded the program, and then we could see it on here!

Still, it was nice to see a pen, featured on TV.

On your side of the pond you may be able to catch a replay online whenever they finally post it...appears they are a week behind just yet...it should be Episode 28 whenever it comes round online. B)

Hi Guys,

The episode hasn't been added to the 4-on-demand website yet. But I believe it is available through 4od/catch-up via cable tv services such as Sky and Virgin Media. Take a look.

Thanks for the mention, Henry! Hope all is well? We've not chatted for a while. Any plans to visit to the Goldsmiths' Fair?

Oh, for those interested, my next collection features pen models starting at under £1000 and cufflinks under £200, including VAT. They aren't overlays but very much inspired by my hands-on goldsmithing roots and unique random yet (seeming) repeating patterns formed in nature. All completely hand made by me in my Birmingham studio-workshop and limited to 250 pieces. Also they will be available with a choice of 18ct gold or polished titanium nibs! Nice, slick packaging as always.

I'll be launching the collection at the Goldsmiths' Fair (Foster Lane) near St Paul's cathedral in central London. Dates are 23rd - 29th September 2013. If you'd like a first look at the collection, or are perhaps interested in placing an order, or just want to come and say 'hi' and look at my work close up, it would be nice to see you there. Info about the event on my stockists page.

PS - A quick couple of images of me creating the new collection inner barrels from silver (925) tube. (Lathe turning then silver soldering collars)

Whilst we're on the subject of tv....let me slip this in....another reason to envy the Brits.... :roller1:

Maybe we'll see some rampant pen usage....

Why can't it be broadcast simultaneously across the pond? :gaah:

A strange thing happened to me just before the weekend, I had notification from my web-site that someone had left an entry in the 'guestbook' so I went to have a look, only to discover that it was a man who I had worked with way back in 1974/5, at Woburn Abbey, in Bedfordshire. He was at that time the head waiter, and I had become Assistant manager at that time.

I quickly sent him an E-mail, [he now lives in Crete, Greece.] and asked for his phone number, and I received his response this morning [along with the phone number] and I have just come off the phone, having waffled on for nearly an hour, about old times, and what he and I are doing now, it was quite an experience!

PS. My advice to anyone who is sitting there thinking:-" I wonder what he/she is doing now?" Google them and see if they are 'reachable'! He did, and I was!

My brother just popped into your shop a few days back and he was impressed! Said he couldn't take his eyes off your silver pieces. So, perhaps Christmas time discounts will make some of your prices finally drop below 500$ and I can get 1 or perhaps 2?!

Thank you for your consideration of this wonderful idea. ;)

Mr Chan!

If I'm correct in assuming that your brother 'just dropped in to 'my' shop' a few days ago', I'm sorry, but I have no intention of doing any 'Christmas Discounts', on my overlaid pens! Sorry if that is a disappointment, but one of my designs is available [the acanthus leaf pattern] for £450. That, I'm afraid is the most modestly priced pen that I do.

Perhaps you could pass that news on to your brother!

Ah well can't blame a man for trying eh? Yeah he did pop by and was suitably impressed by your silver overlaid pens as I am by the virtue of photos alone. I'll go look at the acanthus leaf pattern. I shall still remain on a lookout for Christmas discounts in case you decide to change your mind ;D

I must say, I have been kept quite busy recently, getting pens ready for the London Pen Show, and it seems that some people are sending me pens that they would like me to do; so that they can pick them up at the show! So, it looks as though I might be quite busy between now and 'it'!!!

'View from the loft', it will be great to actually meet you there, but do introduce yourself, it would be nice to put a face to the name!!!

Mr Chan, sorry, no discounts, but it would be good to meet you, if you're going to be there! :)

"Roll on the 6th October!"

Looking forward to meeting the creator of these wonderful works of art that are such beautiful pens - but please hide any pens with stub or italic nibs from me. I find them so hard to resist ...
