I never ever thought I'd say "too many pens Henry!" but that was the case!!! I said good-night and went to bed thinking of all his beautiful pens.......lots that are not for sale until he wants to retire - and my mind wouldn't stop thinking of the Onoto.....so he let me have it - (read nearly steal it!) and one of these balmy afternoons I hope to write a letter or postcard.....I have the stamps!!!

What a wonderful time Ray and I have had......and when Henry and I were engrossed over a table-full of pens Ray took himself off to play on computers - happy bunnies all around!

Oh! Go on Chris, look them out and post them on here..............Please?

You were telling me how easy it was for you to do it!!!

I don't have any photos taken from our last meal at the hotel, but a certain Londoner got a friendly waiter to take some with his camera.....didn't you Henry??? Were you wearing the pink jacket that night? Ray has some and is emailing one to me - so watch this space!!! :yikes:

Hi Chris!

BTW, your parcel is in the post, and it should be with you before midday tomorrow!

That photo was taken on our birthday! Thursday, because I remember that I wanted to ring the changes [jacket colour-wise!] and that is why the pink one was used!

It was a lovely dinner, mussels in white wine and cream and followed with cod, pan-fried with asparagus, creamed potatoes, and cabbage, and then 'sticky toffee pudding'!!! My favourite!

Lovely!

Thank you Henry! The package did arrive an was signed for by mine host whilst his wife and I were out shopping!!!! Thank you for the repaired pen - and I take it the end of the lever box is supposed to pop up when the lever is lifted????

The pen for the doc looks good......I will enjoy telling him some time that I have it -

Interesting pictures and thread  thanks for sharing

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Yesterday afternoon, I successfully removed and replaced the lever-box on the 'Seal Pen', for Chris.who at this moment in time is winging her way back towards the Antipodean region of the world! I will be sending the pen off by post today.

Tomorrow, being Saturday, I will be back at Portobello, and hopefully it will be as good a day as indeed it was last week, which kicked off with somebody buying an Acanthus Leaf Pattern Parker Duofold Pen.

There haven't been any indications regarding who might turn up tomorrow, but I am always hopeful that things will be 'interesting'! There is no telling what pens might turn up to buy.

In the almost total absence of anybody else 'posting' anything on this thread, I will tell you that yesterday at Portobello, was [quite unusually for the summer months] quite a good day.

I kicked off with the purchase of an oversized Whal Eversharpe Deco Band, gold medal, black and pearl pen, being sold to a gentleman from Barcelona, [i think that it was a birthday present from his wife!]

I remembered to take my camera with me, and asked a couple of Chinese pen collectors to take a few pictures, so as and when I send Neal the memory-chip, hopefully they should appear here shortly!

Frantically packing to go pitch my latest merger of pen and ink to literary agents and publishers. The Spirit is staying home as we've been warned of rampant theft in the hotel. Wish me luck! Selling books = buying more pens. :puddle:

Hi Y'all!

A funny thing happened a couple of months ago. I'll tell you about it, see what you think!

Sitting at home minding my own business, the postman arrived with a small package, [from Belgium I later found out] and in it were two vintage fountain pens, one was a Swan in jade green, the other was a Valentine black and chocolate pattern, both in excellent condition. Stuck to the inside of the lid of the box were two thin strips of card, with apparently the name of the sender, and also an address in Belgium, as well as an E-mail address. There was nothing else in the box, and I have also looked through the wrapping paper........ nothing there either!

So, I sent an E-mail to the address shown, asking what they would like me to do with the pens, the answer came back as:- "I don't know what you are talking about!"

So, the two 'orphaned pens' have been sitting here, waiting for someone to claim them, and I keep thinking that pretty soon some rather angry person is going to get in touch, and ask me what is going on!!!

Thankfully, vintage pens don't need feeding!

Have you carefully checked inside the barrels / caps in case there are hidden messages within? It sounds a bit cloak and dagger!

It occurred to me today, that it might be a good idea to get in touch with the "Frequently Discussed Forum", to see if the owner of the two pens might see a reference to them on that thread [i suspect that it might be frequented by a larger number of 'Pen People!']

We'll see what happens!
