Things have been pretty busy here on the home front, what with the fitting of a walk-in shower [for her ladyship!] and carpets being laid tomorrow hopefully!

So today, after doing the big weekly shop, I will be continuing the good workings, of the Onoto overlays, [the second stage of the finishing].

It's all a bit tedious, but sometimes I find that it can become quite therapeutic, [i find that I tend to go into 'autopilot mode'] and the next thing is that they are done!

I must say, though, that it will be nice when they are all done, because there are a few commissioned pieces which are waiting patiently in the wings to be worked on!

It is nice to be busy though!

It is indeed a small world we have also been having a new bathroom fitted it started off as minor upgrade and has ended up as a full plaster off refit :headsmack:

Last day today hopefully hope yours looks as good.

I'm just about to go off to Portobello, and I just hope that it turns out to be better than the last two weeks!

Well at least today looks to be better weather wise than it was yesterday, Henry.

The webcams around your area seem to show the weather to be overcast and a tad wet. The usual. roflmho.gif

Hope it didn't affect P'bello turnout. blush.gif

Hi there 'View from the loft', and Esterbex!

The weather was lovely this morning, when I left home to go up to Portobello Road, but as the day progressed, it became overcast, and by the time I was leaving, it was spitting with rain, the street was almost as busy as usual on a Saturday, but there weren't so many pen people about today, as is usual.

Two people who came [one of whom I knew quite well] to see me, spent quite a bit of time talking, [about pens obviously!] and near to the end of my day, a couple of gentlemen came in, to ask me about disposing of a collection of pens, I gave them as much advice as I could at the time, and they left it that they would contact me again in the near future.

Altogether it was quite a productive day really!

Abbey Road Live (this one has sound)

Trafalgar Square Live

Tower Bridge Live

Heathrow Subscription Cam (£1/month, no, I don't but you may want to)

Radisson Blu on Leicester Square (4 different cameras to choose from)

Just search for "Live webcams" and choose the areas you're interested in. Some links are dead, some are traffic cams that change every minute, not all stream fluidly, but you can get a feel for what the weather's like anywhere in the world.

I left the Abbey Rd and Tower Bridge streams up on the computer....

The Abbey Rd stream is hilarious watching the pedestrians re-inact the Beatles album cover

and about get run over doing so.

I saw the lights come on the Bridge as dusk set in....how beautiful...like being there.

I think I'll leave them up and see what shows in the morning's light.

The web is wonderful.....vbg.gif

Guess who just found a William Morris cap and barrel overlay [still flat, not yet curled] under a whole lot of other 'stuff' deep on my workbench?

MEEEEEE!!!

So, I spent some time this morning curling them both, and I got them silver soldered this afternoon, and they are now on their way down to Devon, to hopefully be united with the base pen, to fit inside them both!

I would say that that was a good productive day's work.

I can only assume that they must have been put there following one of my trips to American Pen Shows, where I had used them to demonstrate the 'piercing' out process.

I tell you what.....that workbench and places nearby need a good thorough cleaning/combing-through just to see what inventory of a useful nature is hiding.....Untold fortunes could be waiting to be discovered, I've no doubt.....:roflmho:

ETA: I volunteer for that job.

Esterbex, you may be pleased to know, that having 'discovered' those stray overlays lurking on the workbench, I have planned a 'safari' to explore the 'lower regions' of the said area!

I have so far recruited three able bodied men who are prepared to face the possible dangers of such an expedition! They are all trained in hunting for fountain pens in extraordinary places such as flea-markets, junk shops and the like, so there shouldn't be any danger of unnecessary casualties!

It was quite a fortunate find, earlier today, it being a William Morris pattern overlay, as I sold three of that design recently when I attended the Little Rock Pen Show at the beginning of March.

Thank you anyway for your very kind offer to help!

How many men does it take to....Oh....that would be an off-colour joke which may be against FPN guidelines. lticaptd.gif

Happy exploration to you all....Do keep us abreast of any significant finds you may un-earth....and that is in the literal sense....rolleyes.gif

I suggest you catalog and calculate the monetary value for your own benefit.....a veritable gold mine no doubt....enough for a

mortgage pay-off I'd wager...wink.gif

Henry: can I be the one to do a thorough search of your safe please??? :puddle: Methinks the retirement fund found will do for a handful of people!!! :notworthy1:

Good find - the extra William Morris!!! Hold up your hand in Little Rock if you don't have this model yet!!!

Things start percolating in about 3 hours from now....dawn breaks, runners, delivery trucks. Lots of pedestrian traffic on that Abbey Rd. The lights are on the Tower Bridge now....

ETA: The Tower Bridge has the odd loud advert from time to time....startled me more than once.roflmho.gif
