Has Anyone Heard Of Henry Simpole?

Onoto Pen Company has finally added the latest overlaid pen in their luxurious line-up to their website, the Magna Plunger-filler. The photos were so lovely, taken by our resident genius Neil Laver, that I've nicked them. I hope he doesn't mind,embarrassed_smile.gif

OK....sorry if I can't seem to control myself....but I feel like a new grandmom with a new grandkid and I can't stop snapping or showing photos of it....a veritable clichè. Indulge me please.

Chocolates with a lovely blue baby topping...I couldn't resist.

That blue makes such a huge difference. It truly makes it a different pen. Yeah, yeah, I know that blue *is* different than black -- but it looks so completely different. Great job!

I've spent he last few days working on the Onoto overlays [fifty barrels, and fifty caps] and I'm nearly at the last 10 or 12 cap overlays doing the 'finishing'.

When I have done them, I will get started on the overlays for the Clouds House pens, which I am hoping will be ready by the middle of April.

In the meantime, I am struggling with the design proposals for the Abu Dhabi Performing Arts Building! Hey hoo!!!

Having braved the snow that has been falling during the night, [and is still falling, but thankfully it is not laying!] I had to book a taxi from Wanstead to Liverpool Street, as the Central tube line was closed for essential engineering work, all day!

Anyway, having got there in good time, I was visited by a lovely Israeli young lady who has seen my stand several times before, and she bought two vintage pens from me.She very kindly gave me a present, [after we had completed the purchase] of a tube of hand cream made from [presumably an 'ingredient' from the dead sea!] the last time she came to see me, it was 'foot cream'! It was nice to feel appreciated though, it was very kind of her!

My next customer was an artist friend of mine from South America, who told me all about the Los Angeles Pen Show, which he had been to, then he started looking at my overlaid pens, and then decided to buy one of them, it was a 'one-off' design of the lady with the feather head-dress, in the Art Deco Style. it is a lovely design, I think.

All inn all, it was a good day!

It was most definitely worth the effort and aggravation of getting there, I'd say. Your artist friend has very good taste. That lady was one of my favourites. A very good day indeed, Truffle. cloud9.gif

Given that the weather in this part of the world is unseasonably cold, I wouldn't blame him if he had gone into hibernation.

Maybe he's busy finishing his Onoto project?

Post Script

Now that is far more plausible.

Sadly, he is not here in Tasmania........ :crybaby:

I think Postscript may be correct!

We have a houseful of female visitors - our eldest daughter, two of her friends - one with her wonderful ten month old baby girl.....so it is a week when the internet and letter writing has taken a back seat........but after Easter I will resume normal life again....visitors depart Friday - and Easter will be time to catch up on rest and sanity!!!! :roflmho:

Hope everyone is OK here!

I feel quite flattered that people are wondering about what I have been doing!

I am pleased to tell, that I have completed the Onoto overlays, and they are now due to be sent off to the Assay Office to be Hall-Marked, and numbered!

I have also been working on the Clouds House pen overlays, and have made arrangements for two sets to be sent off to the West Country so that the base-pens can be made up. As soon as I get them back here, one will be sent to Neal, for photography, and hopefully he will be posting some images on here. I must say, I am particularly pleased with the way they have turned out!

As and when these two projects have been put to bed, I will be replenishing my depleted stocks of the overlaid pens that I sold while I was in Little Rock!

Hopefully, I will be popping in here from time to time.

Thanks for posting these pictures on here Esterbex!

It's only my personal opinion, but I feel that anything that detracts from the visual aspect of the overlay, dilutes from the purpose of the overlay, but I suppose that beauty is in the eye of the beholder! We are being told all the time, that people demand 'choice', and I suppose I should stand back from their choice!

Choose away!

I think resin with a busy pattern would clash with the overlay and look unpleasant. However, I do like overlays on colourful resin with a simple pattern. Examples I've seen an like include the above pictured pen, the Chatsworth in Classic Green resin, or even something as simple as the ivory patterned resin (celluloid?) on the White Dragon pens.
