Has Anyone Heard Of Henry Simpole?

No no, they emerged after the last uprising of the cybermen after their trade union got into a dispute about having to lift things above shoulder height while conducting their daily duties! It went to arbitration, but a solution could not be reached, so they all had a big 'punch-up' and it was finally resolved, [after I had cleared up the mess, already mentioned here!] and now the Emotrons are in charge of all things of an emotionally charged nature!!!

For our own safety's sake, I think that it would be wise for us to not talk about the industrial disputes on here, too much, as they can be a bit touchy about it, and they might be prompted to call in the Monty Python Team, and we wouldn't want that to happen, would we? Even worse, the Spanish Inquisition might re-appear, and that would surprise everyone quite a lot I should think, because of course,

'NOOOOOOOOOOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!!!!'

Happy Friday everybody,

Truffle Finder.

PS. I'm feeling quite happy this morning, as Onoto have placed an order for another 50 No:1 overlays!

Not the Spanish Inquistion! Is it time to run after Brave Sir Robin as he chickens out and buggers off?

Having got up this morning in good time, [before 7.00am quite early for a Sunday morning!] I first of all got started marking out and then drilling the holes in preparation for me to have some designs to demonstrate my craft at the Little Rock Pen Show next week.

That done, I then got started on some pens which were near to completion, but still were in need of finishing and polishing before being ready for possible sale at the aforementioned pen show! They will have to go up to the Assay Office tomorrow, and given the Express service, so that I can pick them up on Tuesday!

I have also assembled an Acanthus Leaf Pattern International sized Parker Duofold, now all ready for the show!

All in all, quite a busy day.

The very nice lady at the Assay Office has just made my day!

I phoned them to enquire how long their current Early Hall Service is at the moment, and she told me that the things that I am planning to drop off there today will be ready by the same time tomorrow!

I am just so happy, that the three pens that I want Hall Marked will be ready in time for the Little Rock Pen Show!

Yippee!

I've had a bit of a shock this morning!

Whilst packing my cases in preparation for my trip tomorrow, [to Little Rock Pen Show] I realised that I have very few boxes available, to take with me. [Three to be precise!]

So, I telephoned' Just Brothers' in NE London, to see if they could supply me with some more as soon as possible, I was fully expecting to have to go over there to pick them up, but the very nice lady at the company, suggested that she could arrange for a courier to deliver them. So, we then arranged for the payment by credit card, and as I write this, the boxes should be winging their way to me now!

Well, I'm back from the Little Rock pen show, having spent the last [nearly] 24 hours on planes, and in airport lounges making my way back to 'Blighty'!

I can report that it was without a doubt, the most successful pen show that I have ever attended in the USA!

I sold no fewer than 8 of my overlaid pens, one of which was an 18ct gold one!

I had been invited to do a 'trunk sale' at the Vanness's pen store in Little Rock, on the Thursday afternoon, following a brief appearance on their Breakfast TV program in the morning! Quite a busy day really.

The welcome that I received during the course of the show was quite amazing, hearty handshakes, and lots of intelligent questions about how I actually make my overlays, it was really a wonderful experience, 'good old Southern Hospitality'! Everybody seemed so genuinely pleased to see me there, and they all seemed to want me to know that I was a very welcome guest at their show!

Quite a humbling experience.

Truffle Finder. :bunny01:

PS. I can't wait to drop into my bed though! The jet-lag is definitely catching up on me!

PPS. I repeated my desire for steamed lobsters most nights while I was there BTW! One such experience wasn't exactly up to standard though, but generally they were very good! [Not exactly typical 'southern food'], but very welcome to this 'Brit' abroad! :puddle:

It's good those boxes arrived in time, as the Truffle needed each and every one! Here are some pics from the Trunk Show hosted by Vanness Pens on the Thursday before the Arkansas Pen Show....These folks were waiting and ready to acquire their very own works of art. Henry sold 5 pens to some very happy customers during the course of the day....and an additional 3 the next 2 days of the pen show. I heard a couple of visitors tell him they had seen him on the tv blurb done by a local station on the Friday and they were inspired to come visit the show. Star Power in action, I'd say! Enjoy!

Here's what I got to play with and hold onto after the show....3 amazing craftsmen, 2 gorgeous pens between them....The Simpini Blue Baby acquired a new B or BB 18k nib and a clip, and the Shawn Newton was transformed before my very eyes from a gold trimmed fine steel nibber to a silver trimmed beauty sporting a broad italic ground by watch_art himself. The celluloid portions are called a "turtle tracks" design. The seasoned and the newbie....there is hope.bunny01.gif
