Has Anyone Heard Of Henry Simpole?

Hi Chris!

No, the opportunity did not arise for me to partake in a lobster meal! I made do with some big scallops sauteed in butter instead!

It seems that it is true about the two things in life that are always present [death, and taxes unless you are Starbucks, Amazon, or Google!!!] I was greeted with a tax demand on my return to London, so I will have to get that sorted out today unless interest gets added on!

Still, beside that, it is good to be back to normality, and I have some good news, while I was down in the West Country, I contacted BT, and have signed up to a Broadband deal for my flat in Cornwall, so in future, I won't have to pop over the road to the hotel to make Internet contact!

Wonders shall never cease!

Just over a week ago, Onoto got in touch, and placed an order for an 18ct gold Number 1 overlaid pen, and because I didn't have one in stock, I placed an order with the caster's, and yesterday it arrived, raw and rather unsightly, but when I hold it in my hand, I can't help but be affected by its 'worth', by virtue of its actual monetary value, as well as it's extraordinary weight!

There's no getting away from it, it is the most beautiful metal to work with; silver is good, but there is nothing quite as nice as solid gold.

I can't wait to start the process of 'finishing' it! :cloud9:

Hi! Y'awll!

Having just returned from my Portobello routine, [quite a good day altogether!] nothing out of the ordinary, but very interesting nevertheless!

For those on this side of the herring pond, who listen to the wireless! I will be answering questions on the subject of handwriting and how much the computer has been affected by it! [i mean how the computer has affected the use of 'handwriting', not the other way round!!! ]

The program goes out at 3.00pm on Tuesday 5th Feb, it's called the Afternoon Show, on BBC London [94.9].

I just hope that I don't make a complete fool of myself! I will be with two or three other people, so with a bit of luck they will be able to give me support if I get into difficulties!

I'll keep you posted!

In a previous life, I used to work in the Hotel and Catering business, and looking back on it, I have become very aware that I suffer from a problem with recognising people's faces, also putting names to those faces! It quite amazes me that I was able to work in the position of Restaurant Manager in various places, and I managed to get round the problem somehow!

Yesterday up at Portobello, I had just this same problem, [i'm quite sure now, that it was the same gentleman who I had seen a few weeks ago, when he was trying various Flexible nibbed pens!] and had sent me a letter, thanking me for my patience in attending to his needs, he also sent me that beautiful picture that he had produced, which Neal kindly posted here!

All the time that he was at my booth yesterday, I was almost sure that he was the same man, but my uncertainty kept me from taking the plunge, and thanking him for sending me the picture!

If, by any chance the person concerned is looking at this thread, then please accept my sincere apologies.

Don't fret so Truffle....I'm sure if it was dear Alex/wispa he took no offense.

I also suffer from the lack of the knack of recognising faces or remembering names. Be they relatives or acquaintances of many years, I often times draw a blank. I wish I could attribute the malady to age, but alas, I've suffered with it all my life, much to my own embarrassment.

If I should develop Alzheimer's or the like, no one will know the difference...roflmho.gif

Hope it goes perfectly Henry, and you get your fair share of airtime!!!

It has to be coincidence, but on the day when they have positively identified King Richard 3rd having dug him up from under a car park in Leicestershire! I discovered a very similar overlay that I must have done at about the same time as the orphan, [or 'homeless' pen].

I have decided to finish it, [i found it in my small bag, that I store the flat overlays before finishing them] so now there are two of them, both are slightly different, but are similar! If you know what I mean!!!

For the benefit of the antipodeans amongst us, I will report back here, regarding the wireless program, when I get back home!

I'll be leaving fairly shortly, and stopping off at Hatton Garden, to get the Foxy Lady silver soldered, and then on to Broadcasting House.

Having just got back home, I must say, that I was very pleased with the way the program went. At least I didn't walk out of the studio thinking:- When I was asked about that, I should have said 'that!'

I thought that it was very kind of Jo Good, to ask me where people could find me, right at the end of the program, so I mentioned the Admiral Vernon at Portobello Road, on a Saturday, but whether anybody picked up on that, remains to be seen! We live in hope!

All in all, I was pleased to have been invited. And as we were saying our goodbyes, the Jewish Scribe [benarroch] said that he 'would' see me again, because he would like to buy one of my pens, perhaps he will come up to Portobello................ but, I've just thought, it will be the sabbath!!! Oh! Well!

My usual alarm time is 7:00 am, which here in Kalifornia is 3:00 pm in London. I tuned my iPod radio app to BBC just in time to spend the hour listening to Jo, Henry and the others. It was a nice discussion, but why, Henry, did she never mention your surname? It was only "Henry Pen" or properly "Henry the Pen Man".

I think you should sell a pen to Jo so when she gets her next contract renewal she won't need to sign with a Bic biro.

I missed it.....even though Ray got our computer in the bedroom to stream that station....I was snoring!

I have just tried to listen to it on my iPad but it doesn't suit BBC gizmos apparently! :crybaby:

I will go down to my PC and see if it works there! Nil Desperandum!!!
