Oh, I'm not worried... It was just a perfect opening to shift the head of the queue over here :-)

No idea where or when, but I do hope to see you sometime next year. Do you know yet what USA shows you are thinking of attending?

"Mundane 142"? Not if it's a vintage 14c nib with piston (or is it just the 144 that changed to C/C?).

Wow... lots of 149's and 146's too. Don't some people across the water like M's and B's?

Foresooth Sire, the great and mighty annointed one hath spoken, from an undiscovered land! [Chris Chalmers, I believe she is known by!]

She hast partaken of the great feastings of the season, and hast cast her good cheer to the fountain pen lovers around the world!!! We are certainly blessed people!

May all good cheer be partaken by all!

I think I ought to have a little lie down in a darkened room now!

I'm hoping Arkansas is still on the agenda...Hara-Kiri may ensue otherwise....unsure.gif

Sorry Tenney! I got a little carried away with my Olde Englishe posting! And missed your inquiry about the USA Pen Shows that I will be going to, the only one I am planning to attend is the Little Rock, Arkansas one in March.

Hari-Kiri, is optional BTW!!! It's considered rather 'Last season' nowadays! [Not to say 'messy'!] :headsmack:

I'm hoping to be 'demonstrating', at this year's show.

'My craft!' not Hari-Kiri!!!

Waiting on the ISP to arrive and effect repairs, so no commentary on the <burp> festivities here until I'm sure the service will stay up that long.

Ah. I was hoping for the LA show since it's closer to me and much easier to get to.

Recently, I have taken to listening to the wireless [Radio 4] as I go off to sleep at night.

During the course of the night, this program turns into the 'World Service', [Good old Auntie Beeb!] and last night while 'turning over' in my sleep, I 'caught' a news flash about the storm conditions which have been sweeping through Arkansas and going North East! The information ended with a comment about the unexpected snowfall in Little Rock on Christmas Day this year! The last time this occurred was 86 years ago apparently!!!

Not earth-shattering news exactly, but worth quoting on here I thought, seeing as we have one person from that locality who frequents this thread! I hope things are alright Esterbex! Did you make a snowman?

Seasons greetings everyone, hope it's been a festive time for all. Here's the images of Henry's design for Clouds House, he will no doubt add plenty of commentary as required.... Henry! Over to you....

Thanks Neal! And Merry Christmas!

I am particularly pleased with the way I have executed the design of this overlay, mainly because of the shading at the points of the leaves where they curl over on themselves, which is meant to show 'depth', [or 3D effect].

As and when I can part with my latest creations, I will be sending them off to Neal for the 'update' on this project.

It's funny, seeing these pictures of the drawings here on the thread, with the words:- 'In Confidence' printed on the paper! This must have happened when I grabbed a blank sheet of paper to use as a backing for the two pieces of tracing paper, so that they would show up better on the photostat printer!

Speaking of the 3D effect, I like the high relief engraved detail and texture you add to all your overlays - on the Clouds House pen, for example, the veins in leaves and the lines were stems cross. I think your overlays are by far the nicest overlays being made currently. Actually your overlays are nicer than most vintage overlays too, only the high end vintage overlays rival your work.

Well thank you very much indeed Raging Dragon, for your comments about my work.

I'm definitely in agreement with you when it comes to the majority of the vintage overlaid pens, I quite early on in my working with metal discovered how seemingly 'slapdash' the work appeared to have been done, there were one or two exceptions, Aitkin and Lambert for example, and of course Heath O/lays were usually very good, but the reason was because they were being paid by the number of O/lays that could be produced in a work shift!

I am fortunate in that I do not get paid by the number of pens that I can make in a month, [some of my pens have taken me 3 months to make!]

Wait until you see the flat overlays after Neal has posted pictures on here! I think that they are the best acanthus leaves that I have done, so far anyway!

Thank you Neal!!!

Henry!! These are amazing, outstanding, beautiful....... :puddle: :puddle: :puddle:

What is the pen in the photos? :cloud9:

I have to add my comments on Henry's overlays here, I used my Simpini/Corpole yesterday, when writing to someone we all love dearly, and that overlay is too very lovely, dare I say perfect in its simple but sublime lines!!! I love all of Henry's overlays though..... and could be called a Simpole Floozie! :notworthy1:

They look to be the Number 7 and possibly The Orphan/Homeless pens?

But the maker and/or the photographer would have to say for sure....

On anther note entirely...Is anyone else here enamoured of the BBC show

Last Tango in Halifax? I have become obsessed having watched each episode at

least twice.....Wonder if it will be released here....too bad they don't write anything by hand

in this series....everything is "email"....but the storyline is brilliant! wub.gif

I think that the two pens in the pictures are 'The number 7', and a 'William Morris', which coincidentally has acanthus leaves as the decoration, nicely done, but with a little more 'Je ne sais quoi!'

Neal was telling me last night on the phone, that the 'In Confidence' was put on the sheet of paper by him, using the little wooden rubber stamp which is in the first picture! And there I was, thinking that I had just grabbed a blank sheet of paper, and hadn't noticed it on there! So, I'm not as daft as I thought!

Yes that's right, the Number Seven and a William Morris formed the decoration to accompany the sketched designs.

"In Confidence".... that's just artistic licence! :roflmho:

Have a good day everyone....

Neal.
