Has Anyone Heard Of Henry Simpole?

Hi to everyone again! Today is the day I write to Soki and Henry - not at the same address - which is a shame - think of what could happen if that were the case?????????????????

My meds have made my handwriting terribly shakey - but as the days pass (sounds like 'Days of our Lives') the shake lessens. :clap1:

I hear poor Santa had a hernia after visiting Soki.............is that right???

GP - I hope you can get your Persian Division to pass on the secrets soon - I can't wait to see what this pen will be like!!!! :yikes:

Huge fluffy hugs to those open to hugs - to anyone who isn't - pucker up - you got one anyway!!! :bunny01::bunny01::bunny01:

Hi Chris,

Welcome back!!! We've missed you :bawl:

Can't wait to receive your snail and catch up on the news. Hey, I think I could be at the same address as Henry......if he invites me for a sleepover :D

Emmm, yes I think Santa had to use a trailer for my Christmas  But he made the rounds all over the world, so I'm happy!

Big hugs,

Soki xxx

Just in case there are people out there who haven't seen my latest Henry Simpole pens........Ta-Da!!! :notworthy1: One Chatsworth Artists example, and the other is another Artist's example of a "CS" in the overlay on the cap - which happens to be my initials of course!!! Enjoy!! :bunny01:

Here are the two new ones.........which are in use and filled as EDs immediately - so I guess they are staying :puddle:

Hi Soki!

The pen to the right of the gold Tendril is the Simpole - my very first pen from Henry.

I was really pleased to hear that Chris is on the mend, and has even got well enough to convert her recently acquired overlay pens to 'eye-droppers', she obviously IS on the mend!

I was with Henry yesterday, and he told me he has got a ticket to see Eric Clapton perform at Woking [of all places!] he has been a fan of Eric since the early sixties, and he is looking forward to seeing in the New Year in to the sounds of the 'master'.

Happy New Year to everyone who has contributed to this thread.

Thanks Truffle..........can I add you to the Henry Simpole Fan Club???

Fancy that lucky old so-and-so getting to an Eric Clapton 'do'........he really does have the luck of the Irish!

What a way to see the New Year in........and this one out! He deserves it - heck, we all deserve it -

Way to go Henry:bunny01: - have a boogie for me please!:blush::meow:

Now all I want is for it to snow HERE!!!!

While i ma hoping to put some money away towards the purchase of one of Henry's pens, I find myself also wanting to buy a Fender Stratocaster guitar. Found one locally which is a great deal, and I am torn, on which to buy. The Simpole pen, or an American Fender Strat. The Strat is a black one, exactly like the one Clapton plays.

Not a good dilemma to be faced with, eh? :):)

Hi Wolverine,

I was lucky enough to go with Henry to the Cream Concert [May 2005] and I hate to say this, but when we got there [Albert Hall] his 'music minder' was tuning up a line of about 6 or 7 Fender Strats, in various different colours!!! It was a great show.I don't know what I would do,the guitar or the pen, how many Fender Strats have you got at the moment? Come to think of it, how many Henry Simpole pens do you have? Only you can decide what to do. Henry has about 20 different 'Vintage Guitars' hanging around the walls of his lounge at his home, did you know that he used to restore guitars in a previous life? To quote Michael Caine, "Not a lot of people know that"

Does anyone know who does similar work to Henry? His skills seem quite specific, in producing silver overlay for a complete pen. I would like to know if there are similar artisans at work in other parts of the world.

A man's real possession is his memory. In nothing else is he rich, in nothing else is he poor.

Truffle Finder- a few years back, before my life was messed up this cancer thing, I had a black America Standard Strat, and a PRS CU-22, played through a 1965 Fender Twin Reverb amp. I have sold both guitars since, and have only 2 acoustic guitars now.

On further thought, maybe I ought to buy a couple of harmonicas for $22.95( US $) each, and play the Blues on them, and save money otherwise slated for the Strat and leave it in the Henry Simpole fund!! :):)

Inching toward progress. I was able to see the Persian Diversion last night. He's keeping the dream pen in mind. Now it's a matter of snatching time together* to sit and find what we need this end. Then I'll be able to turn Henry loose :notworthy1:

*given our schedules and his travels, this requires tactical planning rivalling the docking of a shuttle to the space station! :headsmack:

Hi Ghost Plane! Maybe a pen of two halves is what will come out of this...........I love the 'docking a space shuttle' comparison!!!

Wolverine - I hope you enjoy whatever you decide to get - if you got the pen first then you could write down all the riffs on the harmonicas for posterity!!! Twenty guitars - is that obsessive??? Henry seems to be the ageless being we all want to be - because I heard he doesn't just hang them on his wall - he plays a pretty good classical tune too!

Pepin - I don't know of anyone who can do all the things we hear of Henry - but they must be out there - is 2010 the year of The Craftsperson, the Artisan, the Maestro???

What we do need is to send Michael Caine out to find all these people and skills "that a lot of people don't know"!!

As I type it is but seven minutes to midnight in England, Scotland and Wales.........not to mention Ireland too - so

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy New Year to all my fellow Henry Simpole fans!!!!!!!!

Last night I dreamt that I was playing a black American Strat (like Eric Clapton), and I was writing down the riffs I was playing on the guitar with a Simpole overlay pen!!!! :):)

I sure hope that this dream comes true in 2010, and I can buy both one of Henry's pens (or maybe 2 if I am lucky :) ), and a black American Standard Stratocaster.

So - you merry band of Simpole fans.............how many of you with pens by Henry have taken the huge step and converted (or should that be de-converted.....or 'un-converted') your pen and made it an ED filler? This is one easy step...........remove the CS converter and put it somewhere safe for when you need it in the future - hehehe! and fill the barrel via an eyedropper with your favourite ink. Also note that this is a great way to play with inks, mixing them is so easy with an ED pen! :clap1:

The only thing you have to do before filling the barrel is to make darned sure that the end cap on the barrel is screwed shut nice and tight! or you will have a little leak............but fear not brave pen owner - I have four of Henry's pens and they are ALL EDs and loving being so. With IM and IB nibs they write such a sweet juicy line - it makes my heart sing!:cloud9:

Hi Wolverine, apparently Eric Clapton was playing his 'powder blue Stat on New Years Eve, just thought I would keep you up to date! Have you made your decision yet?

P.S. When is George going to post some more pictures on this thread?

HAPPY NEW DECADE TO ALL OF YOU

And a general 'blessing' with the thoughts behind our special pen.

I've been following the thread, but haven't contributed for ages--not that anyone really cares. Like Chris, I've been struck by a lung bug, not the nasty one she had, but one of my special ones that re-emerge under stress and tiredness, and which leaves me tired and stressed by all the things I can't get done.

Anyway, I hope I'm still on the 'list' for one of these pens. Great work, Ghost Plane and the Persian Diversion!

As for the amazing work of Henry Simpole. What can one say? Except strong self-talk: you do not need those pens. one will be enough. etc etc.

Thanks for all the photos that have been posted showing how Henry works. They are a delight.
