Clocks changed already? I don't think ours go back until next weekend....But I woke up 2 hours earlier than desired anyway.

Glad your P'bello day was so good. May they continue to be so.

Happy Sunday! cloud9.gif

A good day eventually Henry....and all that exercise has to be good for you! I would be being scraped into an ambulance if it had been me. :crybaby:

Nice sales, to nice people too..... Gifts are the best pens :cloud9:

Here is still cold and even though our clocks went forward a couple of weeks ago.....I am still on 'real' time. By the time my internal clock gets with the plan it will be time to have an extra hour of sleep....or writing......and or all life will resume. :roflmho:

Long johns are essentials. Everyone in London looks as if they are freezing on the news! What is happening?

I sincerely hope this Frankenstorm in USA squibs out without doing any damage anywhere. :notworthy1:

It certainly sounds as though the East Coast of the USA are preparing for the worst before the storm , let's all think positively about the people living in those areas, and that the damage is less than predicted.

On a lighter note, [the most that I had to worry about this morning was whether I had put the bin out for the refuse operatives!] I managed to get the Onoto Mammoth Plunger-filler overlays 'finished', engraved and polished, so now they will have to be numbered, and Hall-Marked. Then they will have to be put on the caps, ready to be sent to Onoto.

Without realising it at the time, I created a rather more complicated pattern than was strictly necessary, by including the words 'Onoto the Pen' into the design! This meant quite a lot of extra 'finishing' than usual.

I just hope that the people at Onoto appreciate it!!!

Another week begins.

Well, I am pleased to report that the Onoto Cap overlays have gone off to the Assay Office to be Hall-Marked, and numbered.

Hopefully they will be ready by next Monday afternoon, and then I will assemble the caps, with clips, and then dispatch them to the Onoto offices.

So far it's been quite a productive week!

Truffle Finder,

Great news on the progress of the Onoto overlays :clap1: :bunny01:

The storm has done its worst on the coast, and I hope that it now lessens in ferocity and everyone in the path can cope without the horrors already seen. Far too many lives lost, and houses burnt, not to mention all the flooding and power losses.

Stay safe please everyone!

Today, a very good [pen dealer] friend of mine came over to see me.

He wanted some specific nibs for a few of his pens, which were all fully restored, except for the all important nibs. We spent quite a bit of time looking for them, and he then wanted to see my stock of vintage pens, and he left with about half a dozen!

This was an unexpected bonus, as I think that his original intention was to just pick up the few spares that he was after! But he did seem very happy with what he had bought.

Yesterday, while my friend and I were looking through various boxes of pens, I came across a 'Cocoa' Parker 51, just sitting there 'neglected'!

I put it on one side, and after my friend had gone, I tried to fill it, it sort-of worked, but it was a bit 'laboured'. So I took it apart, only to discover that the previous owner must have had a liking of using purple ink! The breather tube was almost completely bunged up with ink residue! :yikes: The feed, nib and collector were caked in a dark 'waxy-gloop'!

Anyway, the sonic cleaner was put to good use, and everything was brought back to a fairly presentable condition, so I reassembled the pen, and it is now in my stock-folder, ready for Saturday's business at Portobello.

I have no idea how long it had sat in the box, but I obviously must have known that it wasn't in a good state of 'health', and perhaps I had a lot of pens waiting to be restored at the time, but the main thing is that it is done now!

Sorry if this 'snippet' of news is a bit mundane, but it just made me happy when I had done it!

You may remember, [sometime last summer] when I was contacted by a 'Princess' [living in London] about buying one of my overlaid pens, for a birthday present for one of her friends.

Well, I had another call from her last night, a message was left on my answer machine, asking if I could call her back today with a view to her getting a couple of my pens, as gifts for two friends of hers.

I can't deny that I am feeling very pleased about meeting her again, I suppose I ought to start practising my 'curtsey' again!

A ver happy Truffle Finder!

She sounds like someone with very good taste! notworthy1.gif

I must say it would be lovely if she gave your pens for Christmas stocking stuffers! bunny01.gif

I am very pleased to report that Portobello has recovered from the lull, which occurs during the summer holiday period, and appears to be back to normal, now that the Olympics are over!!!

Today, I hardly had any time to look at my book to read, while I was there. There were customers pretty well, from the time that I arrived, until I left, at about 2.30pm this afternoon. Some were collectors from UK, but some had come from Alabama USA, and others had come from the Far-East to visit, over here on business, but wanted to come and see me again, since their last visit was two years ago!

Needless to say, it was a very good day, both financially, and also to connect again with Pen-people who I hadn't seen for a while.

In case anyone here is wondering about the Princess, I have got an appointment to see her at her home on Tuesday morning. It should be a good visit!

All this excitement at the beginning of the week! it is too much for people of a certain age!!!

A very good friend of mine who used to work as a London 'black cab' driver for many years, [and has therefore got 'the knowledge'] phoned me this morning to ask me about a pen that he had found over the weekend, and while I had got him on the phone, I asked him which underground station was the nearest to the 'Square' where the 'Princess' lives, of course he was able to tell me straight away, so now I know where I am going tomorrow!

It will be really nice to get dressed up a bit, to make the visit to her residence, a chance to wear something other than the usual jeans and casual attire!

I can honestly say that I am experiencing the Warm Fussies in anticipation of my visit tomorrow!

Truffle Finder.

PS. I think that calls for another kiss...................on the bottom!
