Week 5 of hacking cough.

Scoffed at first, but the olive leaf and wild indigo spray really DOES calm a throat raw from hack, kawf, gag, snort, wheeze :gaah:

Ghost Plane, glad to see that you are OK! Just keep up with the meds!

I'm off down to the West Country, very shortly, but unfortunately there don't appear to be any Antiques Fairs on until I get down to Tavistock! So it will probably be an uninterrupted journey!

Probably not a bad thing.

Hi,

I joined this network less than an hour ago, and already knew of Henry Simpole's reputation. Sadly, I missed the London show a few weeks ago, but would have liked the opportunity to meet him. His overlay work is extraordinary!

I'M BACK FROM THE WEST COUNTRY, HAVING HAD AN AWFUL JOURNEY IN THE CAR COMING BACK !!! I seem to have pushed the wrong button, making everything capital letters!

My attempts at getting a signal for my lap-top, failed, and when I got back home, I tried to register on FPN, [yet again!]

As usual, it took me several times to try and do it, and as usual I failed several times, but eventually managed to get on this thread, but I now have a 'Password' which looks more like some obscure nation's national debt! I've written it down [for next time,] but I would have liked to have started again from scratch [like a new person would!] but when I tried to do that it said that there was already a 'Username' called Truffle Finder!

It's all to complicated for me I'm afraid! So, it looks as though it's the bottom of the garden for me tonight, and eating worms!

Truffle Finder. :puddle:

Thank you for this thread. Being very new to fountain pens, I was unaware there was anyone out there with such incredible artisanship with fountain pens. Your work is incredibly beautiful. You are the Faberge of fountain pens. Great to have seen your work, even if only on pictures. Your work is breathtakingly beautiful!

Thank you so much for your comments about my work.

I say 'work', but actually, I would be doing the overlays as a hobby, if it wasn't my chosen occupation, which puts me in the very nice position of doing what I enjoy doing, at the same time, my 'work'! :W2FPN:

Have you actually ploughed right through this thread, from the beginning? If you have, then you deserve a medal!

It's a shame that we didn't meet up at the Dallas Pen Show about a month or so ago, it would have been nice to have met you there, perhaps next time, unless you come over here!

Well, if you continue to enjoy looking at this thread, don't be a stranger, post something from time to time, we're a pretty friendly crowd, with a good sense of humour [i think anyway!!!]

See y'awll!

I did read the entire thread as I was in awe of your work. I hope to one day see your work in person at a show. I'm sure it would be well worth the travel. Keep up the great work!

Yes, I would be into them. I currently drive a 2012 Inferno Orange Camaro SS/RS though. I am also into DE shaving with old vintage Gillette razors, (My current favorite is a Gillette Single Ring that is over a hundred years old and gives me the closest shave ever.).

Hey! Something is going wrong here, on my PC the page count is only 25!!! :ninja: Has a pen page prankster popped past my PC and stolen 25 pages? :gaah:

Welcome to the crazy but ever so enjoyable world of the HCS Club! InfernoOrangeSS.... :W2FPN:

You must buy the largest overlay pen available to be in the draw for the Christmas Eve raffle..........prize is a bottle of old ink of course :roflmho: and before I get jumped on from a great height, this is a joke, OK? :ltcapd:

Normal service will resume soon I hope, but in the meantime - just forget my page counter....maybe they have been divided between my PC and my iPad? :bonk:

Each day is the start of the rest of your life!

Hi y'awll!!!

Yesterday started off really cold and a bit wet! Particularly so because I forgot to don my 'long-johns' before I left for the Underground station. [Don't get me wrong, the 'long-johns' have nothing to do with the 'wet' conditions yesterday, just the cold!]

I got to the station, to be met by a notice informing me that it was closed due to 'planned engineering works', so I set off again across town to the other station; this involves a huge flight of steps up to 'station-level', and then another obstacle by way of a footbridge before you get onto the right platform for London-bound trains, so, having puffed and wheezed my way to the crossing part of the bridge, I watched with a little resignation as a train pulled in, waited for a couple of minutes, and then pulled away again! Not wishing to experience a heart attack, I watched as it went on its way! :crybaby:

Strangely enough, I got to Portobello in fairly good time, despite the logistical problems, and I set up the booth as usual.

Within a fairly short time, an American lady from Texas came along to buy a pen for her father, who has been collecting FP's for a long time, having looked at quite a few, she decided to go for a Conway Stewart candy stripe patterned pen, and she seemed very pleased to take an application form for the Writing Equipment Society for her father. :eureka:

Next up was a 'mother and son' couple, who also wanted a fountain pen for the father of their family, they both came from Israel, and despite my pointing them towards some typically English makes of pens, they settled on a gold-filled Sheaffer, but they both seemed very pleased with their purchase, and they seemed very happy to take a WES form with them! :hmm1:

I may have mentioned this before, that there are a few general antiques dealers, who bring Fountain Pens to me when they get them, and yesterday I was offered a Parker 51, and a Parker Vacumatic Maxima in bronze striped pattern, so that was good.

About an hour before the time that I usually think about packing up, a couple came along, and enquired about Mont Blanc pens, which was quite fortunate, as I have a huge stock of them at the moment! Judging by the conversation between them both, I suspect that the lady was buying 'him' a present for his birthday, anyway, they ended up buying a triple set in a MB black leather pouch, and they left my booth very happy!!!

A very good day I think!

Having just re-read that last posting that I did, [i was checking that I hadn't made any errors! 'Really!'] I think that it must be the longest one that I have ever done on the FPN, with possibly the exception of the Jean Esterbrook thread that I did a few years ago.

The clocks went back an hour last night, and I woke up an hour earlier than usual, so I can't claim that I was overtaken entirely by pure inspiration!
