There were definitely spirits at the meet up, but no one spilled any

Folks were surprised how light the pen is compared to things like the Monteverde stylus or some of the pewter pens.

The Spirit is lighter than it looks. But it is still quite substantial. My hand is too ditty to handle it for any length of time. crybaby.gif

My 6-foot sisters would have no problem though....cool.gif

I was pleased to hear on the wireless this morning that not only that Hurricane Isaac has decided to turn West, and not hit Florida, but that the hunt for the escaped Lion in the village of St.Osyth, near Clacton-On-Sea, has been called off! A great relief to everyone on both sides of the herring pond, I'm sure! [Perhaps not so much for the people in New Orleans though,] but I bet Ghost Plane is relieved!

I wonder what the week has in store for us?

No relief here....the storm looms in the Gulf and we have no idea which way it will finally turn. Widespread flashfloods and wind damage if nothing else will result no matter. And Southern California has suffered several hundred small (largest so far 5.3) earthquakes, they call them "swarms", in the last few days. Busy season for the coast lines over here. Fortunately the middle of the country is quiet at the moment....mellow.gif

I had an extraordinary experience yesterday, Conway Stewart had received an inquiry about a silver overlay 'dinkie' pen which apparently had been dug-up on a beach somewhere. :yikes:

The nice people at Conway Stewart had forwarded on the photographs on to me, and I had the pleasure of telling the lucky person who found it, as much as I could about it.

After I have posted this message, I will be posting the said photographs on to Chris, and hopefully she will be able to post them on here shortly

Thanks Chris!

The extraordinary thing is that it was apparently 'dug-up' about 3 feet down on a beach somewhere in Holland!

As you can see from the nib, it is in fact a 'Le Tigre' type of Conway Stewart Dinkie pen, [i think that it looks to me like an overlaid No:540], probably from the early 1920's, it is quite incredible that it has survived in such wonderful condition really!

I hope that you will enjoy seeing the pictures.

The 'link' is:- that I posted about it on the Conway Stewart Forum!!!

To get there, you have to click on 'Forums,' then scroll down till you get to where it says:- Conway Stewart Forum!!! and low and behold............ there it is, unless maybe it has sunk down the page somewhere!!! But I guess you know how to cope with that!!!

Just because a storm is centered over New Orleans doesn't mean it isn't sucking mess across from the east side of things. Today is our first day without severe weather. Yesterday it rained so hard that the bottom of the downspout got blown off by the sheer volume of water coming off the roof. :yikes:

Hoping Esterbex isn't under water over there.

I wish there was an umbrella emoticon!!!!!! eureka.gifI'm praying that water falls where it is needed, and not on one place just because it is there!Hold tight, esterbex and GP, and if push comes to shove, we have a couple of guest rooms here! bunny01.gif bunny01.gif bunny01.gif

We were spared the harsher parts of the storm...a little wind, a steady rain, much welcomed, is all we are experiencing here on the fringe. There have been a few casualties east and south in Louisiana and Mississippi, but not as many as there could have been thanks to earlier warnings and preparation. :clap1:

My poor web and tv satellite connections have been a bit spotty, but that's ok.

Now back to pens! Whatcha workin' on Truffle?

Whattamy a'workin' on?

Well lemme see now! :hmm1:

I got me a nib, and a base pen, anna whole lotta siiver, and gold, and I had bin' thinkin' to put me together an overlay pen, with the theme of 'Eros and Psyche' [wouldya believe that?]

Some 'incurable romantic' has gotten it into her head that they are the two most 'significant lovers' that she wants on the pen.

So, I guess I'll have to put aside my original idea of makin' myself another ingenious 'Warm Fuzzy' trap, and just get on with it!

There are a whole lot of pictures to choose from, so that's what I'll be doing over this weekend.

Eros and Psyche? Still sounds like a W.F. trap construction to me....I hope there will be some pics along the way! puddle.gif rolleyes.gif
