Good morning!

Thank you Neal for doing the honours once again with the wonderful photography!

A few months ago, Alistair [COE Onoto] sent me a cap for the new Mammoth Onoto pen which they are hoping will be available later this year. He asked me to think about an overlay for the cap, and this is what I came up with!

As you can see, the main subject of the o/lay is 'Onoto the Pen', but it is actually quite difficult trying to depict 'handwriting' on to silver sheet without it looking like a child's handwriting, but I am pleased with the result here!

The next stage of the procedure will be to curl the overlay, and solder the seam, and put the 'sprues' onto it, then it will be sent off to the 'casters'.

I'm not absolutely sure, but I think that 100 pieces will be done. Judging by the success of the first Onoto 'Plunger-filler', I suspect that they will be taken up quite quickly.

These are the prototypes compliments of david@onoto.com (and Neal?). I think GP suggested a demonstrator with a Simpole overlay....puddle.gif

I might be wrong here! But I suspect that it would be an idea to get in touch with Onoto fairly soon, if any of you want one of these pens, I have only been asked to produce 30 overlays!

It could well be, that they will be making more, certainly if the first ones sell quickly, but if you are thinking in terms of getting one before Christmas, then I would order one now!

See yer!!!

Well you'd most definitely have to get in touch with David or Alistair because they haven't debuted the model just yet. I guess a pre-order would have to be made. ;)

Hi dreg!I hope no clip. I much prefer Henry's pens without them, but I don't have to take them to work.

BTW, I have had several encouraging emails from Alistair at Onoto, so it's looking good!

My newest arrival is the Corsini-Simpole overlay in orange ebonite. It is a piston filler with a vintage Conklin XF flex nib. I've had it for about a week now; I just inked it a couple of days ago and have been enjoying that lovely vintage nib ever since. Everyone here already knows Henry's work is great, so I'll focus on Bruno's. The shape and the design of the pen itself is a perfect canvas for the vintage-inspired overlay. Fit and finish are top-notch. The piston filler is efficient and holds a lot of ink. I chose it over the button filler as I find piston fillers easier to clean in order to switch ink colors. I ordered the pen through Bruno and he was wonderful to work with--he patiently answered all of my questions, sent me photos of the different materials, kept me up-to-date on the progress of the pen. It was a long wait, as I saw photos of a prototype last year and immediately sent off an e-mail, but the wait was totally worth it!

This is a quick cell phone snap (sorry!) of my budding Corsini and Simpole accumulation:

From left to right: Corsini-PENguin pen (Pelikan 3B cursive italic nib), Corsini-Simpole pen (vintage Conklin XF flex nib), Onoto plunger filler (broad nib), Jasmin pen (IF nib), Dragon pen (IB nib), Chatterley Chatsworth in green (IB nib), Chatterley Chatsworth in white (IB nib).

And bunny01.gifclap1.gif cloud9.gif !!!

ETA: I don't think of that as a "budding" collection!

Yes, perhaps "budding" was the wrong word choice. I should have said "growing out of control," ha ha! In all seriousness, I am most satisfied with this little group of pens. I think this will be "it" for quite a while.

Chris - they sure do look nice without clips. While a clip is really nice for carrying I think this one would stay in a case most of the time anyway. My big worry is always about caps rolling off a desk while I'm working/writing. Mark Twain was right in his assessment of Conklin's Crescent fillers and the value in pens that just won't roll off a desk. :)

That's the good thing about pen rests....(a chopstick holder works a treat! ;) )

In just over a month, the heart of Texas will be graced with another "star".... bunny01.gifbunny01.gifbunny01.gif

I wonder if DFW will increase their security? unsure.gif

I heard Onoto will be displaying an item or two of interest.... (Mam-something or other....) via my favourite pen peeps @ Vanness Pens. puddle.gif

And I do hope the Truffle will have those Corpoles or Simpinis on offer.... I want to fondle the piston-filler. embarrassed_smile.gif
