While I was in the Post Office yesterday, it suddenly occurred to me that I was in the right place to apply for my Travel Pass, now that I am over the big 60 years old!

So, I picked up a form which I will fill in, in the next few days! It does feel a little bit funny, applying for my 'Bus-Pass'! But I suppose I will get used to it!

Too bad there aren't many more such passes for those who've survived and earned them....Enjoy it! clap1.gif

Congratulations. Seriously.

Too bad that those passes are only for residents and not visitors.

Visitors used to be able to buy day or week passes for unlimited travel. In London they were laid out by zones. Henry, do they still do bus/tube passes that way?

Hi Ghost Plane,

Yes, I think that they do, although there is now a thing called an Oyster Card, which I think may have superceeded the original bus passes! THe Oyster card is a form of 'Swipe-Card' which you place on the ticket machine as you pass through, both in and out, and you get as good a deal as is apparently possible to get!

At least that's what they say!!!

Sounds like an improvement on the old paper tickets that ran thru the machine and had a tendency to get bent or frayed if you did a lot of travel at one go.

Sounds a bit like my overlays!

They get better as I become more experienced in making them! I think!!!

With the London Underground, it's more a case of improved technology! I think!!!

No 'bus passes' here in Oz, although you do get pensioners deductions on most things! I think it changes from State to State.......so don't quote me please.

At around the age of 66 you suddenly become invisible though.........so I wonder if I could get on a bus without being seen??? I have to admit that I've never been on a bus here or in the UK for many a long year.

Overlays have to be fragile, or else we would be using them to open old desks that no longer have a key!!! Be sensible Henry!!! :roflmho:

Back to the knitting chair for me...............and maybe another three hour nap? :cloud9:

Using the Oyster card says that you get the lowest fare per trip, plus it maxes out at the same as a one day pass. I was, however, noting that it would be great if the senior passes were available for non-UK people too. As for OZ, there is an unlimited-use pass (as I recall it's for X days) that makes it super easy and you can just take buses or ferries whenever you wish.

Having sorted out the travel arrangements of the senior members of this thread's followers, I can tell you that I spent a large part of yesterday working on the drawings for a pen cap for one of the next Onoto pens which they want to have ready by the end of the year.

It is still only at the drawing stage, but I am hoping to transfer the design to the silver sometime today, and perhaps start the 'piercing out' tomorrow.

With a bit of luck, I will be able to do the engraving over the weekend, and then I will be sending the 'flat' overlay to Neal for his 'Photographic Magic', and then hopefully he will be able to post images on this thread.

It looks as though it might be a pretty busy weekend! :hmm1:

If I'm not mistaken, that looks like a small bunch of 'Warm Fuzzies', standing there trying to blend into the surrounding area!

As long as I can find my utility belt, I'll get right onto it!

Having recently had the opportunity to handle a colleague's CS enhanced with HS, I can appreciate what those who have this overlay in their collection or on their to get list are besotted with. happyberet.gif

Oh dear! They seem to mutate and thrive on delicious provocative words....So shhhhhhhhh....

Speaking of provocative....How is Madame Sensualité doing these days? I hope she is being given the attentions as such a lady should require and that she is not left languishing listlessly in some pocket of a forgetful lover's memories.....Hmmmm? embarrassed_smile.gif

You may get fat, dear Truffle, with so much on your plate....tongue.gif

Hi Ballboy!

Thank you for the compliments. I have made 4 overlays for Conway Stewart, just out of interest, which one did your friend have?

I don't suppose you were able to take a picture of it?
