Has Anyone Heard Of Henry Simpole?

I'm on the wrong computer to insert the close ups of Salman Khattak's beautiful calligraphy, but the English translation of the verse is:

4. O SON OF MAN!

I loved thy creation, hence I created thee. Wherefore, do thou love Me, that I may name thy name and fill thy soul with the spirit of life.

from Baha'u'llah's "Hidden Words"

They are truly glorious! :cloud9: I think we ended up with somewhere near 22 in the end.

Amazing! I stand (OK sit here at the computer) in awe of all involved and of the final result.

DOH! I realized who Truffle Finder is reading the other thread! I am truly gobsmacked (is that the right term?)! I cannot believe the level of artistic craftsmanship.

Nor the artistry of the collaborative effort involved in producing this masterpiece. A labor of love from the germ of the idea to its completion, and it shows.

You have all inspired me to hit the workshop and start tinkering again. I'll never make anything like this, but I might someday make something.

Thanks again.

EDIT to add: Ghost Plane, I can imagine you are on cloud nine! What a ride, huh? The beginning of a new career p'raps?

I :notworthy1: to all y'all.

I may not have been much help, but I DID bump your thread up to the top.

Another one bites the dust.....roflmho.gif

Escribo, your story is mine regarding the gobsmacking effect of the discovery of this artisan's work.

I hope you get to Dallas in September....wink.gif

Hi Vlad Dracule! [strange name!]

Assuming that you live in the UK, I can take pens in for repair, but as Esterbex has said, unless it's something fairly simple that needs doing, I would take your address and send the pen back to you when it has been done, or you could pick it up on the following Saturday at my booth at the Admiral Vernon Arcade.

Once you get to Portobello Road, just ask for the Admiral Vernon, and anyone will tell you where it is, it is the biggest arcade down there, I'm on the ground floor, right at the back of the selling area.

I look forward to seeing you, when you are down for the Olympics!

What days are you here? also is this your usual shop? I.E is this just a workshop type deal or do you also sell pens at this location? What is the actual address or something of the like where i can look up your shops location and see if i can get to it easiall from where i am staying?

Portobello Road is about a 10/15 minute walk from Notting Hill Gate underground station, it is well signposted as you leave the station.

Portobello Antiques Market Arcades are generally only open on Saturdays, the rest of the week, I work from home in my workshop, but I generally do not have visitors there, unless in exceptional circumstances, sorry! I am at the Admiral Vernon Arcade from 9.00am until about 2.00pm.

I'm sorry if you find these circumstances a little quirky, but I'm afraid England tends to be a bit like that! Do the Antiques Markets have 'directories' over in the USA then? :hmm1:

I'm sure that if there is a desire to find P/bello Market, you will get there!!!

I used this address with Google maps https://maps.google.com/maps?q=141+Portobello+Road,+London,+England&hl=en&ll=51.512362,-0.201466&spn=0.008413,0.01929&sll=51.520801,-0.209277&sspn=0.008412,0.01929&hnear=141+Portobello+Rd,+Kensington,+Greater+London,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=16

Admiral Vernon Arcade

141 Portobello Road

London, England

I found that walking down Kensington Park Road (one street to your left as from the underground) rather than on Portobello Road itself, meant being able to avoid the huge numbers of people antique hunting on a Saturday.

You're absolutely right Tenney, that's exactly the route that I take to get there every week! Providing the rain doesn't happen between the station, and Portobello Road, it is a very pleasant 'amble' from one to the other!

Well, I'm back from a fairly good day up at Portobello Road.

First to appear was a gentleman who is becoming a regular visitor to my booth, he came to pick up three pens that needed attention, which I had done for him during the past week. He also Bought a Swan Calligraph Pen, which I think he thoroughly enjoyed trying before he bought it!

The second person to come along, was the Japanese Gentleman who visited me last week, and we talked for quite a while about pens [what else would we talk about!?]

The next person to arrive was a fellow Writing Equipment Member who tried a few pens before buying two, to be added to his collection.

I was offered a few pens to buy, which I did, so I will have plenty to do over this weekend I think!

All in all, it was a good day, and it didn't rain! [At least it didn't rain on me, coming from, or returning to the station!!]

By the way, Bruno, I did show the Corsini/Simpole pens to several people who came to my stand at Portobello, both this week, and last week, and I can tell you that the reaction to them was quite fantastic!

I am quite confident that they will all sell fairly quickly! Comments were that they liked the design of the overlay pattern, but also the construction of the base-pens.

Just thought I would tell you the good news!

Your good days at P'bello seem pretty consistent of late....bunny01.gif

You must have your own personal bubble keeping safe from the rain....hmm1.gif

I do hope the Vampire finds his way to your spot....He can add that to his list of Olympic W.F.'s. blush.gif

My internet connection is fritzy today....something's in the air....blink.gif

Esterbex, Am I right in assuming that WF's are 'Warm Fuzzies'?

Those little suckers are getting everywhere!

I will be prepared, for when he arrives at Portobello, that is of course if he can find the place without the use of a directory!!!

Precisely, Watson! We're having a time with them in my neck of the woods what with all of this cool, wet, foggy weather. wink.gif

I don't recall a July like this in recent history. Not complaining either. Last year trees were already dying, crops were failing and there was no hay for hundreds of square miles for the livestock. Maybe we'll have some fall colour this go around....smile.gif

But a bit further west the drought has worsened....The land looks like the Sahara in some spots....They say corn prices, and consequently anything remotely related will be at a premium shortly. sad.gif

I may have to sell my pens to eat....ohmy.gif

Gave Henry's direction to a writing buddy headed that way for those games in a week or so. Hoping she can make time to find him.

It seems that there will be quite a few people coming to see me during the Olympics festivities, I have been told of two other people who are hoping to come and see me on the Saturdays while the games are on! Should be fun!

It's quite funny really, because most of the dealers up at Portobello, have got PHD's in 'Moaning about why it's not busy!' so it could be quite a revelation, if it turns out to be quite an improvement in business terms!
