Has Anyone Heard Of Henry Simpole?

Can anyone draw a cartoon of Henry slumbering away wearing a scuba-diving suit? London surely got drenched......... four inches of rain in one day!!! :roflmho: Not laughing at the rain, but at the silly picture in my head! Sorry! Normal behaviour will return shortly! :eureka:

Well I don't know about my drawing abilities, but I may be able to provide something more realistic. Upon returning from Little Rock from visiting with my favourite daughter,

I happened upon a special request in my e-inbox....It seems someone here has been trying to learn to post pics on a thread and almost had the hang of it but for a small

glitch....their computer OS is not compatible with FPN's software and would not complete the task.... gaah.gif

Having had the same issue myself on occasion, and feeling much empathy and most compassionate towards such a tale of woe, I will now post on behalf. But I'm beginning to think that I may need an increase in wages or some sort of bonus for my efforts....one can dream.... So without further ado....Some highlights from Portobello.....

Did you know the Truffle was famous in Japan? This fellow made a special effort to come see Henry on behalf of a friend who could not come himself....Chiro-san on behalf of Kondo!

Where were we before camera phones?

"Smile for the little birdy...."

One of The Pen Man's stall neighbours....Pasha

More neighbours who seem to share the Truffle's penchant for drama....Kumar and George

And one of His Nibs' best mates....Tim

I'm sure they'd be happy to double your salary: 2 * 0 = 0!

Thank you very much Esterbex!!!

Great job!

I'm sure that we can sort something out with regards to the remuneration! BTW, how are the Warm-Fussies? Not giving you any trouble I hope!

I must say that George, Kumar and Pasha and Tim all seem to be a happy band of 'the usual suspects'!!! I suppose we are really!

In my 'In-box' this morning, there was an inquiry about the possibility of making an overlay for a Danitrio Pen [or something like that!] but I haven't got a clue what that pen is, so I will have to ask for a photograph, before I can work out whether that would be possible or not, but we'll see!

Hey-Hoo!!! Back to work I suppose! :P

No worries. Some things you just do for love....

The warm fuzzies are running rampant in these parts of late. No one on this side seems concerned about getting rid of the little suckers....priorities these days! I'll have to find an exterminator at some point I suppose....In the mean time, I'll just try to keep calm amd carry on. ;)

And I found another pic from the email I didn't post....Henry and a friend at what seems to be a fair/market....No details, though....I'm sure HCS can fill that in....Liking the hairy face, BTW. drool.gif

A shame the Truffle slumbers whilst this query has been posed....sleep.gif I'm sure he will answer himself in a few hours.

The place pictured above is in the Admiral Vernon Arcade in Portobello Market on Portobello Road in London.

He does indeed work on pens taken in, though his work "shop" is located in his home. I guess "while you wait" depends on what needs to be done.wink.gif

If you're interested in meeting up with him on a day other than the Saturdays he occupies the stall in the market, you'd do well to contact him by email.

He will probably give you his phone number as well.

Enjoy the Olympics you lucky thing! And get pics if and when you meet Henry. vbg.gif

Hi Vlad Dracule! [strange name!]

Assuming that you live in the UK, I can take pens in for repair, but as Esterbex has said, unless it's something fairly simple that needs doing, I would take your address and send the pen back to you when it has been done, or you could pick it up on the following Saturday at my booth at the Admiral Vernon Arcade.

Once you get to Portobello Road, just ask for the Admiral Vernon, and anyone will tell you where it is, it is the biggest arcade down there, I'm on the ground floor, right at the back of the selling area.

I look forward to seeing you, when you are down for the Olympics!

What!!! You mean you might be coming over here?

That would be super! Do let me know when you're planning to make it, and I'll get the reception organised! Fanfares, big band, everything!

I'll even save my last ROLO for you when you get here!

Excellent, break out the fine china and your best champagne!

Unfortunately i do not live in the UK im located state-side. The only work i would really be interested in is just some flow adjustments if any of my pens have the need at that point

Well, the good thing there is that pens are not particularly heavy or bulky, so bring any that I might be able to help you with, and I'll see what I can do to help you.

It would probably be a good idea if you were to ring me before I see you at Portobello, in case there are tools that I should bring to assist with anything, like a crow-bar! [Just joking!]

I look forward to seeing you.

If you leave a message on my web-site, I will return by E-mail, my telephone number. OK?

This is a very looong thread.

Did GP's pen ever get made? Is it the barberpole-design-looking one at Mr. Simpoles site? There's some kind of script on the spiral, but I can't tell what it is. I'm assuming this is the pen, as that design would be ideal for a right-to-left written language.

If it got made, can someone point me to a larger pic of it?

Thanks

I may not have been much help, but I DID bump your thread up to the top.

If you 'search' for The Spirit of Life Pen, by Henry Simpole you will find that there is a very long thread there too!

It will take you quite a while to look through it, but there are certainly many, many pictures showing how it 'evolved', it was a long journey, but a very worthwhile experience!

Perhaps when you find the thread, you could respond to how you feel about it, and bump it up once more!!!

I'm sorry Escribo, I've just tried to 'Search' for it, but apparently I'm doing something wrong!!!

Perhaps someone here can locate it!

Ah, so it is the one I thought! Thanks.

Even more beautiful than I imagined it might end up being from wading through the first 15 or so pages of this thread.

I'd congratulate all involved in making this treasure, but that would pale in comparison to your owning and using these pens on a daily basis.

I may not have been much help, but I DID bump your thread up to the top.
