Has Anyone Heard Of Henry Simpole?

Hey friends!

So... I must confess, I during these last few days in London, I was very very tempted to buy a 1st Gen Vacumatic Oversize.

I saw the pen one of these days, at Portobello, but I had bough already 5 pens in the past 5 weeks... so I was a bit reluctant. In fact I couldn't resist and phoned Henry, because, I was leaving yesterday, and wouldn't be possible to go back to Portobello anymore.

Henry was very nice, and told me we could meet near it's place.

Henry was even nicier, and invited me in!

The place where all magic happens!

I admit I enjoyed it more that any truistic venue I've visited in London!!!

I even got a picture of the master!

What do you say about this?

Yes... I'm a lucky guy!!!

Regards to you all!

Regards to you Coimbrareis!

And thanks for posting the photograph on here, although it does look as though I'm up to 'no good' in my little "inner-sanctum'! :hmm1:

I can'r beleive that coming to see my workshop, was the greatest place that you visited whilst you were in London!

But I'm pleased that you enjoyed seeing where 'the magic' apparently happens!

All the best to you, and I look forward to seeing you again when you next come over to the UK.

PS. Now where did I put my 'Warm Fuzzy' detection kit? One must be protected at all times! You know?

I thought WF's were indigenous to American shores....I'd have thought your cool climes and persistent cloudy skies would be inhospitable to such a varmint....

Up at Portobello, today, amongst others who came to my booth, were a couple from the USA, who "weren't really collectors", but they owned quite a few, which they had found at a pawn brokers back in the USA where they lived!

I handed the lady a subscription form for the Writing Equipment Society, and explained to her that she would find it very useful if she was a 'desky type of person', she smiled, and then she asked me if I would mind if she took a photograph of me in the booth? I told her about the Fountain Pen Network as well, and she said that she would post the photo, on this thread when they got back home!

So, there we are, hopefully another one joins the happy throng!

See Y'awll!!!

I do hope the pub near where Henry stays has still got wi-fi or whatever it is........as we are waiting to hear that the trip was not only pleasurable but safely taken - with the regulatory stop for a cuppa!?

Happy Landing indeed!!! :bunny01:

A triple Happy Birthday for July 4th...

First, to Henry, since this is his thread after all. You're now older than me again. Hope the Cornwall celebration is tops!

Second, to Chris, but it should really be first as she's already celebrating. Did himself cook you breakfast at least?

Thirdly, to the USA... well, what's left of it. Here's hoping for a much needed recuperation.

From a friend to all three,

-Bruno

Thank you all for your kind wishes! HAPPY BIRTHDAY HENRY!!!!

I had a fantastic day - and did have breakfast cooked for me too - porridge with cream!!!

I dreamed that I was given a Kindle by Ray - and when I told him............as he handed me my wrapped present...........his face was a picture!!! The present so well wrapped was a Kindle and cover etc. How spooky is that? Now I have to learn how to work it, buy some books etc.

The day yesterday was busy - we lunched at the pub on Bruny Island - saw a Dolphin play as we waited for the ferry home......stopped at the handmade chocolate shop on the way - and then hours of phone calls from all the family - near and far!

A perfect day!!! :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

Hi!!!

I'm back from Cornwall, and back in rather damp London.

It was a really great trip down to Cornwall. I'm extremely tired [must be my age!] I did a good trading session with a collector friend of mine while I was in the West Country, which was very good.

Portobello was a good one, someone came from Japan to see me, and also a man from South America turned up, and business was 'brisk' as they say.

Having been up very early this morning to get to Heathrow, I am now planning to go back to bed!

As and when I emerge from my slumbers, I will report further.

Can anyone draw a cartoon of Henry slumbering away wearing a scuba-diving suit? London surely got drenched......... four inches of rain in one day!!! :roflmho: Not laughing at the rain, but at the silly picture in my head! Sorry! Normal behaviour will return shortly! :eureka:
