Has Anyone Heard Of Henry Simpole?

Well....I see someone suffers a mild case of foot-in-mouth disease....

Diplomacy seems not your strong suit dear Truffle, as choice of words can get one in deep brown stuff. In any case I should think your "best" client would be the one who took interest in your offerings straight-away and has just about one of everything you've ever made....Anyone matching that description? As far as "favourite", well that is subjective and in open forum should never be admitted to. Anyone with multiple good friends, children, lovers or "clients" should endeavour that each one should feel they are "it". Nothing should be done or said to dispel the perception. That is not "deception" per se, as each one most certainly posseses a quality the others do not and can be said to be "one of" your favourites.

Anyway, I'm sure those that love you, despite your "favouritism", will continue to do so....;)

Glad you enjoyed the Spirit process, Henry. :cloud9: A large part of that was working to keep the spirit of the writings involved in the creation process. Because the Faith the writings come from has a core principle of consultation, it seemed appropriate to continue that in the design process. By showing respect to one another, discussing pros and cons, involving the community, and throwing open the availability to anyone wanting one who could scrape together the funds, it grew to be more than a pen. I hope, in the end, the pen captured a little of the spirit of the Spirit.

It's certainly special to me, but then I was the one moved to make the attempt to begin with. :eureka:

If the step resides in GP's vicinity you might get washed away by the torrential rains....I hope the hatches are battened down and you are high and dry GP!

We have plenty of unused boats over this way should you need escape....our waterways are down a few notches already.crybaby.gif

Praying for your safety and a share of that precious moisture....unsure.gif

If I could, I'd be scooping up a few feet of it and ship it straight to those fires out west.

Hi Henry! My dear man, I'm not really upset - and as GP has said, it is water under the bridge - over the bridge..........around the bridge..........anyone got a bucket???

I have to claim the favourite crown for nagging though...........surely? :roflmho: I can nag for England, Wales, Scotland and Florida!!! Nag, nag, nag............etc!

I have to shuffle off to the kitchen now, so please excuse me - I'm in a pickle making mood......while himself is at golf............. Corn Relish and Piccalili!!! Seems my natural state - being in a pickle!

I relish (pardon the pun!) the way Henry takes all this on the chin though - the sign of a true high-born gentleman!!! :cloud9:

GP may be too inundated with those flood waters to attend to your request....I should think your time-out ended a while back.

And whilst she is attending to buckets, one of my classmates has reported that her city of Colorado Springs in the West is besieged by wildfire smoke and flames.ohmy.gif

She may have to abandon her home. Prayers on all accounts most appreciated. blush.gif

Hi everyone

Henry I am like everyone here interested in fountain pens and admire your work.

I was wondering if you have written any in depth articles on how you create these works of art.

I have read about the talks you have given to groups do you script these or are they spontainous.

Regards

Michael

Hi my63,

No, I have never written a script for the talks that I have given.

The methods that I use for making the overlays is quite clearly 'embedded' in my mind, so there really isn't any need to write anything down before I give one of my talks.

If I remember correctly, on my Web-site, there is is a run-through about how the 'Lady With Lillies' overlaid pen was made, it was the first commissioned piece that I did, but the basic principles are the same, that I do now.

I hope that that is a help.

Well, thank you both very much for your kind words, welcome aboard the thread, we're a fairly pleasant bunch of people on here, we share common interests, and our sense of humour seem to run along roughly the same lines!

So don't be strangers, join in from time to time, you're always welcome.

Few days ago I was in London during a holiday trip and I visited the shop of Henry Simpole in Portobello Road Market. Mr. Simpole is a very kind person and of course I bought one of its beautiful pens (The Myrtle)with an Italic nib. I regret not to have enought money to bought at least one more, but this will be the excuse to return to London again from my country, Argentina. Many thanks Mr. Simpole for make so beautiful fountain pens. I feel very proud to be the happy owner of at least one of them.

Kind regards,

Hector.

What a diverse lot we are!!!

Poor Henry running a real risk of future problems if he remains on that cold 'naughty step' - and Ghost Plane having to bail out with her credit cards!!! I hope all is well with you in Florida!! :notworthy1:

A Myrtle in Argentina...........now there lies the bones of a good story - even one of Agatha Christie's would do! Any offers of something short and enticingly different??? :puddle:

Well, it seems that I have been forgiven for my shortcomings in my choice of words here on this thread!

Now I am looking forward to Portobello tomorrow, which I hope will be as good as it has been for the last three weeks, although I have no reason to assume that it will be, as I haven't had any communications from anyone as yet, indicating that there are people coming to see me, but in a way that makes it quite a pleasant experience, not knowing!

Sunday will be a busy day for me, as I am travelling down to the West Country for the week, so depending on whether I am able to get a signal, there might not be much in the way of news from me while I am down there. But I will try to make contact, over the road at the Tavistock Arms Hotel, where there is a possibility that I might be playing the drums, accompanying a very competent duo who play there on Tuesday evenings! No promises, but we'll see!

Arqui, I'm pleased that the Myrtle is behaving itself, and I look forward to seeing you again, when you are next in London.

Truffle Finder

PS. Rumour has it, that there might be some 'Warm Fuzzies' that I will have to deal with when I get down to the wooly wilds of Cornwall, but I will wait and see! :hmm1:
