Can I have a 'bikkie' as well Ghost Plane. Just finished all my repairs and only need to polish clips and levers. I realise that my repairs will not be as complex as Henrys but when you consider I only started collecting FPs last Oct.(after 40 years of being a user)I've accomplished more than I would have believed possible. All pens are filling and writing well and when I received them not 1 of the pens (with the exception of the lone BP)was in working condition.

This is my list of repairs:-

1 CS 35, 2 CS 75s, 2 CS 85s,1 CS Dinkie,2 CS 479s,2 CS 70s, and 1 CS 759.

1 John Bull ED, 1 P75,1 Sheaffer Imperial,1 Eversharp Doric,1 Waterman Junior and a Wyvern NO 5. I also managed my first button filler a P Duofold.

Only needed to send 2 away for repair a P Vac and a Mabie Todd.

Definitely time for a shopping run! Well done

No milk shakes, Henry. Been bad this week on the caloric intake, so we'll have to cut back a little.

Did you manage to use all of those sacs you ordered or will some be wanting for a pen to wed? wub.gif

And Truffle, over here it's still too early for Mickey Finns....wink.gif

Esterbex Got some sacs left so I'm watching a few pens on E Bay to use them up. I'm trying to stay off the on line auctions cos I spend too much and I need my pennies for my HS overlay.

I'm just back from Portobello, and you'll never guess what happened!!!

I was visited by a foreign lady [who happens to be a real Princess] who I had met once before, about two years ago, when I was doing the Goldsmith's Hall Show, and she had bought one of my pens for her nephew. :cloud9:

This time the present was going to be for a member of our Royal Family who has a birthday coming up very soon! [it's not the Queen BTW!!!]

Anyway, She chose one of the 'One-Off' designs that were on display in the cabinet, paid by cheque, thanked me for looking after her, and left.

:bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

Jim Marshall and his wife popped in to see me, which was very nice, as I hadn't seen either of them since the London Pen Show last year.

Then my friend from Portugal came to pick up the Pelican Pen that had needed some nib re-setting and re-shaping, and he spent some time looking over some of my latest finds, which have joined my stocks since the last time that I saw him.

An Italian friend of mine came in to pick up two pens which he had asked me to work on, [one of which required major plastic surgery!] he was delighted with the results!

Anyway, yet again I resisted the temptation to book a helicopter to come home in! And instead I came home by tube!!!

A very busy, and very happy bunny :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

A very hoity toity day at the shop, dear Truffle!

The Prince (who's birthday is causing a chitter over here as well) will be quite the fortunate to receive his gift!

Stay grounded....the Princess may want one of her own....wink.gif

Freakman,

[i'm sorry, but I've only just read your 'post' about the Chinese Characters.]

I do not Speak, read or write Chinese, but if you are familiar with the Spirit of Life Pen, [about a year or so ago on a different thread] that had a prayer, and a greeting in the Farsi language, which was transferred to me via a calligrapher, [in that language], so the point I am trying to make is that I would be quite prepared to do a pen with Chinese Characters in the design of the overlay as a commissioned piece.

Food for thought perhaps!

What fun Henry! Off you go for a normal Saturday morning at Portobello Road - and Lo! and Behold! Here comes a Princess...........and a couple of Big Pen People............ do you have a red carpet you can roll out quickly? Helicopter indeed..........won't your stretch limo fit down the Lanes?

Only kidding............ but it lovely to know we knew you when you were 'an ordinary bloke'!!! :bunny01: :bunny01:

Each day is the start of the rest of your life!

So, there I was minding my own business, doing a few repairs actually! When the phone rang, and the voice at the other end told me that she was Princess XXXXXX, so I answered with a customary 'Yes!'

She then went on to explain that she would like to buy another pen, and would I mind delivering it to her, at her address in the West End of London? And 'would it be a problem to bring several so that she would be able to choose which one she liked the best?'

"No problem at all" I said in my best forelock tugging manner!

She then proceeded to give me the address to where I was to deliver the said pen, and that was it!

Not bad for a Sunday morning, I thought so anyway!

See Y'awll!!!

P.S. Does anyone here know what the correct way to address a Princess is?

A Duchess would be 'Your Grace', but I have not had an occasion to warrant the correct address for a Princess before!

I'll probably end up standing on her doorstep, and just saying...... good afternoon! So where would you like me to put these pens then? :roflmho:

I believe it's "Your Highness" but over around these parts we're more likely to default to "Ma'am." :roflmho:

Actually Ghost Plane, I've just phoned an old friend of mine who used to be the Duke Of Bedford's Gentleman's Gentleman, and he told me that if I felt that there was a need to address her formally, then it should be 'Your Highness', but thank you for thinking of me, 'Your Thoughtfulness!!!'

Stompie I only have 1 Doric and it does not have adjustable nib. It came in an auction lot and I did not even know it was a Doric. It's in such good condition I thought it was a new pen. Took me ages to identify it.

Ok, Stompie!

So you think that I ought to just say,"Yo, Momma!!! I got yer Pens baby!!! Wasssuppp!!!"

Yes that sounds good!!!

I might even try that!

Truffle Finder. :roflmho:

PS. Esterbex, thank you, but it is a little complicated, I think I'll stick to the 'Your Highness.'
