My father's Black Esterbrook J with a firm broad nib #9968. This pen holds memories as well as ink. So very much I am his daughter, so very much I miss him.

Aw, Kathleen, your post brought the sting of tears. Those of us with these pens that belonged to our loved ones are fortunate indeed. I posted my favorite black pen at the beginning of this thread — my father's black Estie SJ. My dad is still alive, but I feel the preciousness and fragility of time with each year's passing. What a wonderful photo of you and your dad! What a special pen to have and to use!

Schaeffer Connoisseur, my second anniversary present from my wife, 18 years ago. (Section replaced without my consent by a warranty repairman about 15 years ago.) Writes buttery smooth medium, although a bit wet.

I don't like to play favorites, but this pen gets a lot of regular use. It's a Pelikan M818, based of the M800 and made for Tiffany & Co. in 1990.

Or to keep with the black theme...

Very touching... quoting Elias Lieberman - "Memories are all we really own", and oh! a very nice pen too...

My favorite black pen is my LeBoeuf. I think this is a model 75. It is a sleeve-filler.

A Lady Sheaffer I stumbled upon. Circa 1930's. Restoring and giving to my wife.

My favorite black pen - Aurora 88 - nicest pen I've ever owned (there have been many)

My favourite black pen and I have yet to meet. When we do it will be a smooth flexible fine-nibbed Conway Stewart from around the 1930s, with gold appointments of course, and it will write better than I do.

When you're good at it, it's really miserable.

Others have posted wonderful photos of wonderful black pens - MBs I have, Black Wahl Signature, black Nakaya - black Pelikans - but this one stands out for some reason........a modern LE (#8/21) and made in Poland by Wiland! The Aleksandra........large, simple - I use it as an ED - and never uninked since it landed here June 2010 - and the nib by Greg Minuskin is deliciously CIM. Enjoy!

edited to add - forgot I have a Jet black Patrician too!

Nope, this is not the all black first year Pelikan 100 I ever wanted. But a pretty interesting pen though. It is a rare wartime Pelikan 100. There were made a very small number of celluloid cap tubes without the engraved capbands. (Mentioned in the Pelikan book of Dittmer/Lehmann)

...still looking for the first year pen...

Hi Christof, would you mind telling what ink you used in your signature. That's a really nice blue.

Thank you,

Simon.

it's vintage Pelikan royal blue 4001 ink. probably a bit more concentrated than new ink, that's why there is such a great saturation.
