My favorite black fountain pen has to be my Waterman. It was the first fountain pen my wife ever gave to me, so it has a very special place in my collection.

I found this (and other Conway Stewart Duro photos that I took last summer) by accident yesterday. It is surely one of the most stylish classic black pens that one can find. If it had been in black/silver I might have kept it... Anyway - if you want to see it with its friends in amethyst and dartmoor you find more photos here.

Thanks, Dandelion — it is a cool pen, with a soft and responsive nib. :)

ArchiMark — for the most part, I'm not attracted to metal caps on plastic barreled pens, and yet there are some that catch my eye. Your Pelikan is very handsome, and, yes — regal. Beautiful photos!

Thanks, Rena....it's funny that you mention metal caps...

I shied away from them too until this pen...not sure why, but now that I have it I really like it. The M1050 cap has a very nice quality about it...

So, now, I'm tempted by dandelion's Vienna with that handsome metal cap.....

This may not be my favorite black pen, but it's the most recent to land in my hands. A Bexley Equipose, ca. 1996, in glossy black, gold plated trim, 14K nib. This was special edition for a Columbus, OH, dealer, and not one of the standard colors.
