here's mine--the duofold greenwich centennial, which i think was the most beautiful modern duofold ever made, certainly the only one with this chased chevron pattern.

"But isn't one of those pens a Jinhao" - Albinoni -

No....Bottom pen is a Namiki Bamboo with rhodium trim and top

pen Aurora 88 with chrome trim..which to your eye looks identical

to a Jinhao {model xxxvvbb}.

All of my pens are basically black but if i had to choose it would be

between my MB 149 models or my MB Edgar Allan Poe Writers Edition.

Good post!

Love the great photos in this thread. Black pens are so hard to photograph! I've been trying to take decent photos of my Lamy Al-Star "stealth" with limited success. The nib is black, it has no trim rings and it has a flat finish. Looks great in person, but hard to photograph...

I bought three of these special editions when they came out. I used one as a daily until I lost it! I just ground this nib to a .5mm cursive italic (like the one I lost) and was trying to take some pix for a potential bay appearance for the other one...

A Waterstone's book shop FP, I believe it has a nib by 'Jowo'.

A very smooth writer, using international converter, all metal, at 30gms.

An own brand FP sold at Blott stationer's shops.

It has a nib by Bock, with international cartridge or converter.

Section is heavy, (steel?) but barrel and cap plastic, so has a definite front heavy feel, and very comfortable to write with.

Colour is not black, but very dark grey/gunmetal.

here comes mine,an old fashion Chinese golden-star fountain pen,in its 70s probably, still in superb condition and never failed to please me whenever i use it, it is a gift from my aunt's husband who is 80 year old this year, he, as a teenager in a small village in northen china, got this pen from his father before he decided to try his luck in major cities of China decades ago.

Can't say I am prone to use one particular black pen. I do not usually purchase black pens, so the picture represents the ones I have. My black pen use is based on how I feel that particular day, or sometimes for "signature show." ;) From top to bottom:

1. Jinhao #159 with Knox nib (for signing paperwork)

2. Esterbrook J-with #2314 B-stub

3. Onoxcrom Mod. Oxford (Germany)

4. Jinhao 599 (nib smoothed almost like butter)

5. Replica Montblanc Thomas Mann with Knox nib

I can't pick a favorite, but my Esterbrook is my most photogenic black pen. :D

You can see my least photogenic pen hiding in the background.

Actually, now that I think of it, my Vis-Pen is pretty good-looking too. Once I fix the plunger seal I may have to fill it with some Lake Placid Blue and take some shots through the ink window. ;)

I have that exact same pen! It belonged to my great-grandmother and has her name on the barrel. The sac is ossified but I'm too afraid to try to get it apart. It really is a beautiful model.
