Hi Sean,

 

I would say a sign of fountain pen sickness is trying to offer a seller buy it now on a pen that you already have 5 examples of ;-) If you are trying to corner the market, count me in. As the guy who traded your YotGD back, I want to say the pen is impossible as a user and for that reason price has not gone up. If you notice the pens that have gone up in price substantially happen to be the better writing pens. (Hemingway, Medici, Proust, Imperial Dragon). Maybe there is hope after all for MB fans. We do have people like you who actually write with the pen.

I completely agree on multiple levels. I could not help but laugh when I saw that the seller said they would let the auction run through while making the answer public. I pretty much wanted to reply to him "can't you just make the auction end in a day, since all the serious buyers are going to show up in the last 20 seconds anyway, it would save us time." And yes, we should set up some kind of cartel on FPN to buy all Hemingways that come up at a certain price.

I agree. I use two of them every day and love them.

It goes without saying that my situation does not match all situations, but this is one of the reasons I have standardized on the modern style of the 139. I love the shape but the vintage ones are also quite pricey and for someone like me they are more difficult to maintain. I will stick with the modern ones and let the experts fight for the originals.
