Thanks for the review. I find it well done, and for me timely and useful.

I forgot to check back with you to say I got a 2000 with a B nib a couple weeks ago. A lot of my decision was based on this review. My 2000 with a M nib writes what I consider a very fine line. It is smooth, but quite fine. The B nib is wider, I think a true Western B, and does indeed have the stub-like character that you reported. It really does give a natural mild line variation without effort. I like the B nib much better for general writing, and it is getting a lot of use.

Just a side note. My 2000 with the M nib is older, and has the plastic "joint" in the section at the ink feed that you had been discussing. The one with the B nib was new in the box, and it has the newer all metal section. No leaks from either one. we shall see what happens in the long term.

belles-Lettres - You cannot change the nib yourself (unless you are a nib smith) you would have to send it back to Lamy, but if it's fairly new they will do so free of charge. Otherwise It's a case of finding a nib smith who can do it for you (and has a spare nib, too)

sorry for my off topic comment: I love your avatar! This is me!

Here is some writing in the BB nib. I have also included the Pelikan M400 BB nib for comparison.

I also plan to purchase a Lamy 2000 2B! :puddle: But I will modify to stub-cursive italic. I don't know BB, but B seems to be stubbish.

Thanks for posting!!

Best,

Fabricio

Thanks for the complement on the avatar Fabrimedeiros! I've got quite a few, keep an eye on them as they change...

On topic: I've just received my B nib L2K back from a dear friend and nib genius who has turned it into a cursive italic with a slight right foot oblique slant (I'm a leftie so it's perfect for me!)

I LOVE IT NOW!!!! Will try and put up a writing sample in a couple of days.
