Best fountain pen paper for 3-ring binder

I am trying to find a good paper to write on with a fountain pen (Clairefontaine or Rhodia type paper would be ideal) that could be put in an American 3-ring binder. I know it will be tough to find paper already hole-punched, but does anyone know of an 8 1/2 x 11 paper good for using a fountain pen with that I could simply hole-punch myself?

I believe Rhodia has some pads that are 3 hole punched with 81/2 by 11 paper. Google it.

Rhodia does have 3-hole paper, but I'm not sure if it will fit in a standard binder, since the Rhodia tablets are 8.5 x 11.75. I don't know if it's available as filler paper. I've only seen them in tablet form.

I've seen quite a few posts here where people have used HP 24lb copy paper with good results. Although it's not ruled, you can create ruled sheets with the templates linked below:

Rhodia makes a pad that is three hole punched and lined. It's the Number 20 pad if I'm reading the chart right.

HOWEVER, if you are willing to go with a thinner, more cost effective, and widely available filler paper I recommend the Staples Eco-Friendly Filler paper. This is the famous Bagasse paper. It's available in college and wide rule. Many Staples are running a sale on it now. In my store it's selling for 70 cents. The Rhodia pads sell for $7-$8 each.

I'm a big fan of Miquelrius 90G A4 paper. Very fountain pen friendly and ultrawhite so you get a good contrast between ink and paper. The wire bound notebooks have the three hole punch already set and have the best perforation that I have ever seen (it keeps the paper in nice and tight but when you want to remove it, bend the page on the perforated part and pull).

After hearing so much about the Staples bagasse paper around this forum, I stopped by there today & got a pack of 100 sheets of 3-hole 8.5x11 for 70 cents. Such a deal! Now that I got it home I see what the fuss is about... my pen *loves* it & so do I. Will go back for more soon.

Staples bagasse paper is cheap and ideal for fountain pens. It's very thin but very tough. I use it exclusively.

As an aside to the Miquelrius recommendation, if you are seeking lined paper you can currently find these pads at Target. I personally restrict myself to graph paper so I am still forced to by my paper online.

BAGASSE!!! Seriously, this stuff RULES! I like my rhodia just as much, but the only reason I even bought the rhodia was because I had a $40 target gift card from my birthday 3 years ago and there were only 2 plumixes (otherwise, I would have just gotten plumixes and chewing gum. instead, since there were only 2 plumixes, I got 2 plumixes, 135 pieces of gum, 1 letter sized rhodia pad, 1 reverse rhodia pad). I LOVE bagasse! It is my FAVORITE paper of all time :) Crinkly and crisp, easy to write on in bright light, smooth, light, thin, durable!

The 3 hole punched paper with a plastic-reinforced left edge is very good. This paper is sold by Staples in plain unmarked cellophane packages. The packages are small - about 100 sheets - and expensive. The reinforced strip says "reinforced" in red letters, and 5 red stars. This paper is thick enough that you can write on both sides with no bleed through with wet bold pens. And the holes will not tear after years of use. The surface is toothy and takes a lot of ink and dries quickly. I use this paper for anything I have to leaf through every day, and that I plan to keep for years. It is tough stuff.

By the way, there are new 3 ring binders on the market. One half of the ring has a raised pin, the other half has a recessed hole of the same diameter. When latched, they form a solid, smooth ring. Stapes, Wal Mart.

Rhodia paper will fit a standard 3-ring binder. I just tore a sheet out of one of my pads, punched it and did a test fit. No problems. When torn from the pad the paper is approximately 8 1/4" x 11".

I've done the same thing. It fits.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.

Clairefontaine does loose sheets IIRc

Yeah, writers bloc sells them. If I recall correctly they are only Seyes ruled in A4 though.

I personally can recommend Staples bagasse paper. Cheap and fountain pen friendly - no bleed through with my wet-medium Parker Vector and J. Herbin Rose Cyclamen or Quink black. Only pens I have trouble with bleedthrough on it are bold point rollerballs.

Whitelines paper is available in pre-punched 3-hole pages.
