18K solid gold Parker 51?

I got a pen/pencil set with box this afternoon. The nib part seems to be Parker 51. But there are no Parker marks on the cap and the barrel. There is a 18K cp mark on the clip of the pen. Although there are no other hallmarks on the pen, I can confirm that the case of the pen is made by 18K solid gold. Is this set made by Parker? I really no nothing about this set. Can anyone help me? Many thanks

It looks like it could be solid gold.

However I'd doubt it it's a Parker original cap & barrel, so I doubt if it could be called a 'Presidential' Set. It just doesn't look like the photos of Presidential's I've seen. The end of the cap looks wrong, the barrel looks slightly too fussy & I thought 'Presidential's' came with a black hood.

If you were in the UK & it was solid 18K gold, it would be illegal to sell without a hallmark & you'd need to get it properly assayed.

Regards,

Richard.

I very seriously doubt it.... all the Presidentials had black hoods not grey hoods.....

Also the engraving pattern as well as the cap are totally wrong..

It was most likely custom made by a jeweler for someone with a bunch of money to play with..

Very nice looking, however.

Do you mind telling us how much you paid

I have seen pieces like this in the Middle East.....Saudi princes and such have them made up and handed out as gifts to visiting dignitaries. Also could have come out of Saddam Hussein's Iraq.....Where did you procure it?

I think this pen set is not the Presidential. It is made by solid gold and not by gold plated. This pen set came from Hongkong. But I think it should be made in US because I saw a same pen set in US.

His pens manufactured in Brazil. "CP" = Celestino Praça (artisan gold jewels from Rio de Janeiro in 50´s and 60´s)

Yes, I confirm that this pen is a Parker 51 and was customized in the '50s by the Brazil Goldsmith called Celestino Praça, from Rio de Janeiro, because I have one of these with me. it was inserted coat of Brazil on the cover

Parker 51 pens were a priced objects. In many parts of the world the owners ask for special finishes. I have seen some caps with different after factory additions. Some of them done in Mexico with traditional designs anther one made in Italy .Maybe artisans were more willing to do this time consuming works 60 years ago than today?
